Bane/Widow crits? Lacking?
It's nice when it happens but it's not something I depend on when I play my bane. With heavy burst, venom grenade and arctic breath I never felt the need to compare my damage output against that of stalkers
Crowd control still makes my heart tickle when I hit a huge group with it after a placate though... STEALTH STRIKE!!!
SOA crits and crit chances have never been as good as a stalker. I don't see that as a problem.
I like the fact that I can choose when I want to crit, and that I can string 2 critical hits during a build up phase. (BU -> Slash (-> Gloom) -> Placate -> Eviscerate)
But the overall damage increase from crits feels a little lacking compared to the crit damage stalkers can reliably do, or the involuntary but more often occuring scrapper crits. I think both scrapper and stalker crits do 100% extra damage, while SoA crits do 50% extra.

Just wondering, with the new stalker changes, how are widows, forts and banes on the critting front? Good? Needs improvement? Bad?
I'm looking at them and way I see it, their crits look a little lacking, but I want to hear from others who might play banes/widows/forts more than me. |
Honestly I never thought the crits were that big a deal anyways: on my NW I use slash crits to one-shot pesky minions (sappers, etc), on my bane I use resist debuffs with crit shatter to soften up bosses... and that's really the limit of their use IMO (man I wish they'd replace shatter with clobber...).
But fear not: my NW has hit 345 DPS vs pylons (that's the highest I've been able to achieve because procs are so random, most of the time it averages 3:10 or so), so on the DPS front a correctly built NW can hang with the best stalker combos.
I still think the crits should be looked at and changed. Stick them still below stalker but above where they are now.
For banes, I'm thinking that everytime you kill an enemy or maybe if you hit them below 30%, you get a stack of executioners strike that increases your crit chance by 20%.
For widows/forts, every 5 many melee attacks will make your next attack add a burst of toxic damage, about 70 damage, equal to an IO proc. So you can crit normally and get these kind of toxic crit.

SoA don't need buffs (maybe banes a tad).
When something good happens to me, I can never enjoy it....
I am always too busy looking for the inevitable punchline...
