Quote:As someone who has already spent a lot of money on boosters, slots, and upgrades, the VIP subscription really doesn't add much extra value to the game for me. I've boughten over the years 10-20 character slots on all the servers I play frequently, and as a tier 8 vet, I keep for free everything I want and enjoy out of the game (IO access, market access, all AT access), which is great for me if I want to go premium. What can we do to add even more value to our VIP subscription?
The issue with paying $15 a month for VIP subscription now is a tough call. All it gives me that I really want is 400 points a month, which I would be better off simply paying $5 a month for as a premium to unlock new costume parts. Incarnate access, while mildly appealing, doesn't really fill in the desire to pay that extra $10 a month for VIP status, since most of my enjoyment comes from taking a new character from the beginning up until they have really fleshed out the concept I had for them. And since I have no desire to server transfer any characters, the free character transfers just build up.
From a cost/value standpoint right now, it seems better for me to go premium for what I want out of the game, which is not a good thing. We actually had a discussion on this at the Repeat Offenders forums if you care to read (although it goes off topic a bit now and then).
Things I could see enticing me to be VIP:
*Redeem the free character transfer for something else (maybe a new character slot instead?)
*More free VIP content (it shouldn't be cheaper for me to play as a premium and just buy points for what I want)
*Incarnate content that doesn't have the 'dodge or die' and 'gather all these temps' mini games found in the current iTrials. I'd like to see some good old fundamental CoH gameplay for my incarnates. -
The thing with Energy Melee as it currently stands is there is just way too much delay in the set between when you queue an attack and when it actually hits the target.
On teams often a lot of the damage becomes overkill damage because between that amount of time it takes for an attack I have queued to actually hit the target often someone else has decided to attack that target as well, and often kills them before the attack even lands.
It almost makes me want to make a /macro TF "$$team Using Total Focus on $target, it will be dead in 3 seconds, please attack another target!" -
Quote:Yes, yes, yes! Carp Melee! Everyone wants it, and this is the shortest route to it.Giant Fish weapons (possible Carp) for Broadsword and Katana with a Swordfish for Titan weapons.
And honestly, I was half surprised it wasn't one of the weapons first released with the set. -
Off topic, but I really miss just being able to walk into an AE mission knowing I'd be earning full rewards for everything I played. Now, it's such a big database of 1/10 XP, 1/2 XP, etc arcs, that it's a pain to play if you just want something fun and that will level you.

Had a guy in our network (Smurphy, many know him) who fielded six accounts running characters all named NEMESIS ClONE with variations of the 'i' 'I', which looks the same in-game.
They were all Thugs/(some buff/debuff set) MMs who used Gang War. Let's just say, it was a little wacky to watch. -
There is always flipping going on when a niche is profitable enough, but the main reason it can and does spike is as others said, very low supply.
With the speed people blaze through the lower levels, only so much low level common salvage gets generated, and even then, it's likely many don't even put them on the market.
Issues with low level common salvage:
A) People tend to blaze through the levels
B) People tend to just 'let it remain full' and continue working towards their next level without unloading/selling salvage
C) A lot of it regularly and almost always sells for less than vendor price because their is no demand, so they get in a habit of just vendoring low level salvage. Myself, I often just delete it, unless I know the price is spiked on something, to save myself time.
D) Even when the price is high, it's often less valuable to try and sell 1-2 pieces of 50k salvage than being able to use that market slot for something else. 50k inf or leave a bid on a IO or piece of salvage I need for my build. Myself, I usually have all of my market slots working for me, and tend to either dump all my salvage quick on the market for 1 inf just to clear it or I vendor/delete it.
Anyways, those are some of the reasons, many of which others have stated too. -
The Signature Story Arc #1 can be easily ran once a week (and twice the first week) for an A merit in about 10 minutes.
If you have multiple characters with 'confirmed' hero/villain status, you can easily run it twice and pick up 2 A merits each to buy a rare recipe immediately to e-mail over to a character you are slotting. -
The only thing that I never understand/use is the Sweep combo.
Most of the time when I set it up, One Thousand Cuts will knock down the target and by the time I get to the 'SWEEP' portion of the combo, the target is still under KB surpression from just being knocked down. -
Quote:A well voiced complaint, and something that will be fixed in future releases. As such, I can understand passing this one up.This is looking like the first costume set I won't buy. The pre-tint causing my costumes to look dramatically different at different graphics settings and making it impossible to mix and match has just gone too far.
I'll make the best use of it I can, personally. But it is of limited use. -
They say gunslinger, but they really mean...your male protagonist might meet this female harlot in a gunslinger inspired movie.

While I definetly enjoy some powersets more than others (e.g. Super Strength, Dual Pistols, etc.), and others sometimes drive me a bit batty (e.g. Energy Melee post-nerf, Peacebringers), the ability to swap and always play sometime different is what keeps me in this game.
Variety is the spice of life. -
Honestly, I believe it is simply marketing.
They have waited on desired proliferations before because they want to have proliferations to get people excited to play said powerset with said AT.
It will come, someday, possibly with slight changes. But mostly, I think it's all about the schedule and when they want to release/use something for hype. -

Quote:Meh. That must be way civilians push player characters out of the way these days, huh?Won't work, due to the "the server's data wins" setup for the positioning system in the game. Having the power somehow reset it to "client side position wins" would create a potential exploit.
I always wondered what 'game breaking exploit' required that change. -
Quote:I suppose I could see that. It really just makes me always want to roll a Brute because they get all the best caps and most upward potential.No.... its not. If the Tank damage cap was increased to 400% then so should every other AT sporting a 300% damage cap, and all that would do is be unfair to ATs that actually deserve the 400% damage cap and indirectly be a buff to how good kinetics is. A buff to an AT balanced around every team having a Kinetics user on the team is silly.
And frankly, if you look at my character list, of the melee ATs, it's usually what I roll. -
Quote:That is another good point. The aggro cap of 16 really needs to be rethought out, in my opinion. My Stone tank never gets to use his 'extra mitigation' because even at +4, with only being able to aggro 16 enemies, they don't hardly phase him.I was thinking of the fairly common scenario of engaging two (or three) spawns at once. There's that kink in the office corridor, or the T-shaped Rikti cave, and so on, where this often happens.
On my Dominator, I can apply Volcanic Gasses to one group, Stalagmites to another, maybe resummon my Animated Stone and drop an Earthquake, and basically neutralise 30-40 enemies at once. Sure, each power has its own target cap, but I dont have a global cap for all my controls.
On my Tanker, I can get one spawn to concentrate on me, but if I engage the other one, half of Spawn A forget about me instantly.
Considering judgement powers can hit 'what is it?' 30 targets, I really don't see how allowing a tanker to aggro 30 enemies would unbalance things. Most of my tankers can handle the aggro of 16 targets without so much as a deep breath, and only when there is more than 16 aggro'd does the team run into trouble because I am beyond the aggro cap and cannot control them, which as you mentioned, many controllers can work around. -

I did not buy either, as I won't be buying any consumables from the market.
It may be just me, but it is quite easy to earn these in game. -
The pace of unlocking things with iTrials is something I can stand to do with multiple characters.
I'm hoping the solo version retains the speed while adding the fun element back in of being able to do small group/solo content amongst friends, and avoiding some of the iTrial gimmicks. -
I thought it would be heartless imps that feed on the darkness in everyones' souls. :P

Quote:This. I really don't see the 'need' to buy these IOs when you can run two Sig Story Arcs or a few BAFs and simply 'earn' them. These IOs can be bought for 1 or 2 alignment merits, which are easily had by running tip missions with a minimal investment in time.
Additionally, they can be bought for 16 or 32 astral merits. Considering that you get 4 or 5 astrals per trial, it's another relatively painless way to get them, especially if you're running trials to get that last very rare you need for your T4.
Still, I suppose some would rather just click 'buy', slot them, and run whatever content they want, but I find these IOs pretty low hanging fruit to earn in game. -
No consumables for me!
And I already own the Martial Arts pack.
I want to spend my points, I do, I do!
Oh well. :P -
-
Hmm, consumables and/or IO sets, not interested in any of those, ever.
And, of course, I already own everything else. :P
Great pricing on them though, that is a pricing that would entice people, I do believe!
