I know 12 points isn't much but I would be mad if I found this out after I bought it, trying to give people a heads up.
Next up on the Paragon Market, a pack to facilitate a heavy session of drinking in a microbrewery goes horribly wrong.
Dang, I didn't realize they were selling them as anything other than a complete set. Coulda saved myself some money if I'd know that, but since only the set part was listed under the sale category, I didn't think to check individually. Wish I had known, since I really didn't need/want those Basilisk's Gaze procs.
Since I only ever slot 4 LotGs, it's also cheaper for me to get the Def, Def/End, Def/End/Rech, and Def/+7.5%; the same with 4 Basilisk's Gazes.
But I decided not to spend money to add points so I didn't buy anything and just banked the 400. If I do anything I'll buy a transfer for 200 pts and bank it with the freebie for a rename that I don't have to wait 2 months for.
it has gone from unconscionable to downright appalling that we have no way of measuring our characters' wetness.

Thanks for the heads up. Sort of a "five bucks each or three for $20" kinda ripoff they got going on.

Yeah, people looking to buy KinCombats for the 4-slot bonus are better off buying them individually too.
50 - Acc/Dam
70 - Dam/End
85 - Dam/Rech
113 - Triple
318
Set Cost: 400
Ah well, that's a few points I didn't need right? Right?
Hmm, I hadn't looked, but I wasn't aware you could purchase them individually either. Thanks for the heads-up.
(I *probably* won't buy any, but in case I'm tempted.)

I actually have decent luck rolling those with merits. I don't exemp much at all and I slot them as early as I can w/o worrying about the effectiveness of the enhancement much (most are in mule powers anyway).
My Ice/Time controller is slated to 4-slot FOUR sets of Basilisk's though...
(which I should probably just hunker down and buy at WW)

Well that... Is that...
It's really hard to not think the worst of the Paragon Market when stuff like this keeps happening.
Stand UP.
FIGHT BACK!
Additionally, they can be bought for 16 or 32 astral merits. Considering that you get 4 or 5 astrals per trial, it's another relatively painless way to get them, especially if you're running trials to get that last very rare you need for your T4.
These IOs can be bought for 1 or 2 alignment merits, which are easily had by running tip missions with a minimal investment in time.

I can earn a buck fifty much easier and faster than any of those things you listed.

It's all a matter of perspective, priority, and tradeoffs.

A tip of the hat to the power of marketing.

As could I. But I'm cheap anyway (and I'm not likely to take on any sort of project that would have me working at midnight on a Friday).

Still, I suppose some would rather just click 'buy', slot them, and run whatever content they want, but I find these IOs pretty low hanging fruit to earn in game.

They're real benefit is being able to slot them as you're leveling, and they level up with you to their maximum aspect enhancement.
And while the aspect enhancement gets hit by exemplar scaling, the bonus remain to a pretty low level.
So, that's two things they do that ordinary versions can't.

This. I really don't see the 'need' to buy these IOs when you can run two Sig Story Arcs or a few BAFs and simply 'earn' them.

Aside the proc, set sells from the mid to upper prices in the 8 figure range, the triple can go into the 9 figure range. If anything, I'd use my stipend to buy a couple of the triples since they're the most expensive of the set.
Its cheaper to buy all the individuals pieces then it is to buy the set.
Set costs 400 Points,
Individual pieces are:
ACC/DMG -- 50 points
DAM/END -- 70 points
DMG/RECH -- 85 Points
DMG/END/RECH 113
Knockdown Bonus -- 70
Total cost 388...
