Heheh, I seem to be doing quite the opposite. I only have two fifties:
Dark/Rad/Dark Defender
Rad/Dark/Soul Corruptor
>_> -
Quote:Force Feedback would have a chance to proc every time you use the power regardless if knockback actually happens or not.Edit : Oh, the knockback is also only a 25%. Won't that have an impact on the Forced Feedback triggering (will FF only get a chance to PROC if the knockback actually occurs?)
I can't say I've tried it, nor will I. I put Posi's Blast in there with a recharge replacing the proc. It is most excellent. -
-
I dislike Energy Blast because it's exactly standard. Aside from the secondary effect, it has very little in the way of its own quirks. It's like it's the template from which all other blast sets are drawn.

Dark Miasma doesn't play terribly well with IOs. Many times, to get the set bonuses you want from sets, you end up needing more slots than you would otherwise need. As such, I usually end up frankenslotting to maximize the effects I want or to cut a slot here and there.
Dampened Spirits is your friend here since it has a lot of the effects you want.
I usually put Glimpse of the Abyss (minus the proc) into Fearsome Stare and fill the last slot with a ToHit Debuff enhancement (in the case of my Defender, a Lysosome HO)
Rad Blast is easier to do:
Obliteration in Irradiate (5 IOs from the set + 1 generic recharge IO)
Positron's Blast in Electron Haze (which I suggest you get) and Neutron Bomb (skip the proc, substitute in a generic recharge IO)
Sting of the Manticore in Proton Volley
Frankenslot Cosmic Burst for Damage, Accuracy and Recharge if you can't afford to put Apocalypse (minus the proc) in it.
The only outliers are Neutrino Bolt and X-Ray Beam.
In Neutrino Bolt, it's suggested that you frankenslot in two Dam/Acc IOs, put in the Achilles Heel proc, and then follow up with any 3 damage procs (any combination of Touch of Lady Grey, Shield Breaker, Apocalypse and Gladiator's Javelin). The Apocalypse proc is highly recommended since it both deals more damage and fires more often than other available procs.
X-ray beam doesn't need quite the same treatment, but it's still very worthwhile to load it up with procs after some normal slotting or frankenslotting.
I do highly suggest that you get Electron Haze and put as many slots into it as you can. It's the best AoE in an AoE-heavy set. It does more damage, recharges quicker and uses less endurance than Irradiate. It's really good.
I also find that, on a Dark/Rad, it's fairly painless to drop Petrifying Gaze. Rad Blast has Cosmic Burst, which fills in nicely for when you want single-target control. -

I have found myself replying to global chat that was some 20 minutes old before. -
Yeah, Dark Miasma does very little to help you in PvP. You'd pretty much be relying on the awesomeness of Fire Blast to pull you through, which it won't once someone uses Heat Exhaustion or Infrigidate+Benumb on you.

Focus on other things. The PBAoE fear in the presence pool isn't very good, and it's not worth being able to stack it with Fearsome Stare. If it wasn't something you need to get 2 other powers for, then I could maybe see getting it. It really is lackluster compared to Fearsome Stare, though.
Also, if you play your Dark/Rad the way I do, you'll be getting most of the aggro anyways. There's no need to try to get yourself more of it.
Just keep doing what you're doing. Focus on your AoEs and debuffs. They're what make the combo shine. -

At least, that's what I thought of when I read "prompt for ALL powers." -
It's different because the foe intangible powers use a magnitude system to determine what does and does not get phased. The phase protection of minions/LTs/Bosses is something on the order of 1/1.3/1.6. Nothing specifically resists the phase, but level scaling will bring the phase magnitude down.
Black Hole, for instance, is a 2.1 magnitude phase (at least I think it is).Against even-level targets, it has no trouble phasing entire groups. Against target 4 levels above the user, however, it does. Against +4s, the effect is at 46% effectiveness, or just above magnitude 1. This is only enough to phase minions. LTs and bosses you hit with it will not become phased.
The phase magnitude of these powers can be increased with Intangibility enhancements. -
There's something of an unwritten sign convention. People expect purple to be ultra-rare, so it is.

My worst idea is extremely similar to my best idea. The only difference is that everyone on the team has now taken Tornado.

If you're invited, then the hidden forums will appear for you beneath the regular forums. That's an easier way of checking than trying to log in.
Unless, of course, things have changed since the I11 beta... -
Pffft, if you want us to get creative, don't limit us to just 2 of the same AT.
My dream team would be:
Storm/Sonic Defender
Storm/Sonic Defender
Storm/Sonic Defender
Storm/Sonic Defender
Storm/Sonic Defender
Storm/Sonic Defender
Storm/Sonic Defender
Storm/Sonic Defender
Each with both gale and shockwave. We'll give a new meaning to the word 'herding'. -

Dark Miasma
Remove Black Hole. Do not replace it with anything. The powerset will have 8 powers. Dark Servant will still be acquired at level 32/38. -
Quote:It'll work better against Super Arachnoids than it will against AVs, who have an 86% resistance to it. That -100% becomes -14%, and it's been figured out that AVs only regen some 26HP/second without any special buffs, so it's not particularly worth it.The -regen in twilight grasp was enough to be very noticeable against Super Arachnoids and Biff, so it's not completely trivial -- it was clear that spamming TG was much more effective than spending that animation time using (rad) blasts.
So it might not be enough against an AV to let you solo it or whatever, but it's probably worth doing. There's also the -tohit! Plus, you'll keep people healed as a side effect.
Against giant monsters or enemies with heightened regen powers, it's certainly more worthwhile. -
It also seems to matter if the power spawns a pet or not. Powers that spawn pets tend to be identical between ATs (see Tar Patch, Traps, half of Fulcrum Shift). It's not a definite rule, though, and there are exceptions.

I made a Dark/Rad Defender before Issue 2
But no, really, I did a lot of stupid stuff. I'm just glad nobody was around to watch me do it xD
I did the tram thing for a few months, and I'm very sure I bugged it at least once.
I bought shiny new training origin enhancements at level 7, not knowing they weren't worth it.
I forgot to level between levels 2 and 6 (they didn't come nearly as quickly back then). It was mostly because I was having too much fun. The first time I played the game, I went at it for 8 hours straight.
I was ghastly afraid of anything above my level for a good while. I had exactly no idea of what my limits were.
It's actually kind of forgivable because, throughout my 20's, I was relegated to fighting things a few levels below me. I couldn't do my missions because they were frontloaded, and nobody wanted me on their team because I was a Dark Defender, so I had to wait until I out-leveled them. Hunting on the street, though, I couldn't defeat enemies that were my level.
You imagine being a Dark/Rad Defender with no help from your primary but an unenhanced Darkest Night (you couldn't enhance the -ToHit due to a bug), Shadowfall (which slowed you and didn't allow resistance enhancements), Twilight Grasp with an animation twice as long as it is now that was also weaker against higher-level enemies (yes, the heal amount scaled), blasts that used significantly more endurance than they do now, and incomplete slotting due to being unable to afford a full set of IOs (nobody could until their mid/late 30's). My only saving grace was Petrifying Gaze (which was a lot better back then).
Then imagine that missions gave 1/3rd the experience they do now and were filled with +3s at the beginning and -5s at the end. Then imagine that you got twice as much debt when you died as well as considerably less experience from bosses and LTs.
Somehow, I still managed to love this game. -
Quote:What I do is turn off a victory condition when I win with it. This encourages me to play the game differently each time.I usually win by a cultural victory, although I've worked with friends to clear the map with military forces. I prefer brains over brawns victory myself (but the thrill of battle is too much fun).
I wish I was invited to beta, though. The last one I was in was I11. Come on, you know I'm good for it :P -
Mine is decidedly odd, but I have become fond of it.
It is unquestionably acceptable on a size front (it's smaller than a lot of text-only signatures), especially since I don't combine it with any text, and it's just 16kb in size. What's not to love? -
Most AVs/Heroes don't move that much, so keeping them in Tar Patch is trivial. You just have to get into melee with them.
Deploy fluffy on top of them, put Darkest Night on them, put Tar Patch under them, and sprinkle with Fearsome Stare every now and then.
The -regen in Twilight Grasp isn't going to do much of anything, it's too weak. Only the -regen in Howling Twilight has a high enough value to really make a difference, so don't waste your time spamming Twilight Grasp, it'd be more advantageous to use that time to blast.
Petrifying Gaze won't be terribly useful against AVs. First of all, they have mag 50 protection against status effects half the time, and you can't hope to get through that. Secondly, you really don't need to hold them because of how much you'll be debuffing them. Again, it's time that's better spent blasting.
I wouldn't use a Dark/Dark to fight AVs. Dark Blast is better at AoE damage than it is at single target damage. -
But nobody opens up with their blasts. That's a silly thing to do. You open up with Fearsome Stare.
Quote:Hey everyone, I have this rad/dark and I don't mean to steal this guys post, but it was mostly dont anyway. I was just wondering if I would be okay with only the two ST blasts - cosmic burst and neutron? And do I need to take the pet from leviathan mastery? If I don't, I can take recall friend which will be good with howling twilight.
You'll find the set to be underwhelming if you don't take the AoEs, especially Electron Haze. The single-target damage is rather lackluster until you've slotted 3 damage procs into Neutrino Bolt. For most of the game, it's the AoEs that make it worthwhile, and Electron Haze is the best AoE in the set. -
Count me in with the people who would do if it Auto Assault and Tabula Rasa were still running.
