Natural Origin ONLY include: Peacebringers, Arachnos Soldiers and Arachnos Widows.
Science Origin Only includes Warshades.
How is, the idea I am suggesting ANY different than these?
[/ QUOTE ]
These are epic archetypes, tied to an origin specifically because of the storyline behind them. Not powersets.
[ QUOTE ]
Did all of you whiners complain when these four Archetypes were created? If you did then im sorry, go cry about it, they are here.
[/ QUOTE ]
Some people skills you have there, bucko. Surefire way to change peoples mind and get agreement, there. A winner are you - wait, not winner, the other thing. -
I play on Victory, and there most certainly are people playing and teaming. Don't know what you're doing. *shrug*

The list goes from last played at the top, then from least to most load at the time after that. -

Also, I don't like the idea of Redside having as many zones as Blueside, namely because, while I admit to being more of a blueside player (though I do play redside), one of the draws for redside to me, is the less zones.
I do think Redside needs a lvl 25-30 SF. And I would love it if redside got access to the Shadow Shard.
[/ QUOTE ]
*More* zones is not the same as "As many as blueside." It's "More than the piddly number there now, for more visual and gameplay variety."
[/ QUOTE ]
If by zones you mean like some with STORY arcs sure. If you mean empty husks like hazzard zones or the shard, hell [censored] no.
With that said I would not mind new zones if each new zone has at least 5-6 FULL story arcs.
[/ QUOTE ]
And why is the shard generally empty?

That said, yes, I actually DO want something hazard-zone-ish. It doesn't need to be a zone in and of itself. Give me a "Nobody goes there, too dangerous" island a good ways off to fight large, hazard-zone-style spawns on. I happen to like going through Dark Astoria and Boomtown, for instance. There's just not much that's similar redside - heck, I was finally having fun taking my Plant/Thorn solo vs. Scrapyard's followers while they were even-con or above to me. Got a few hundred of them on my own. (Both scrapyarder badges, and I kept on going.) -
[ QUOTE ]
Anyways I'm against this, I'm sure recipe prices would go up because lack of supply.
[/ QUOTE ]
And I call that a load of BS. Why?
I already store recipes in Wentworths/BM, or on my higher level characters. Or make them and throw them in my various SGs "IO Hold" bins. I know many, many others who do the same thing. It's roughly as common as breathing.
It's *already happening,* and has been since inventions came in. Removing the 60 day limit from the consignment house made it even easier.
And "Enhancement hogging?" Really? So actually doing things like, oh, crafting a bunch of lvl 15-20 Acc, Damage, and END reduciton IOs for the lowbies in the SG is a bad thing? I don't think so. Guess where they go? Hasn't seemed to hurt the market so far. Heck, I've been throwing SOs and DOs in bins since we had them to help out lowbies. -

I think that in itself is the issue right there. Tier 9 powers are what people strive for in sets, that one shining power that generally defines the set. Trollers get pets for the most part. Mind gets an AE confuse that is for the most part duplicated as a lvl 8 power in a newer set.
[/ QUOTE ]
I disagree - I look at the set as a whole.
Illusion isn't defined by Phantasm. Most people are going to think of PA (lvl 18) as a "defining" power of Illusion instead.
Plant? Just look at your own argument and that of others here - SoC is what people think of, not Audrey.
Ice? Ice slick (also an early power) more than jack. At least in my experience.
Earth is defined by... well, *everything* in it, not Rocky. VG, EQ, QS are more "signatures' of the set.
Grav and Fire, perhaps, are known for the pets, but the rest of them... not so much, IMHO.
The same's true in other ATs, as well - some (such as Granite) are defined by their Tier9, yes, while others (Fire) aren't. Radiation Emission isn't the "EM Pulse" set, it's the debuff set - which you get early, even as a controller. FF isn't the "Force bubble" set.
Saying the Tier9 of a set is "that one shining power that generally defines the set," even with the "generally" thrown in there, just isn't accurate, and shouldn't be the way to measure or judge a set.
[ QUOTE ]
As far as the "cottage" rule, and who made up that name btw, they should be shot, anyone remember Grav didn't have a tier 9 pet.... remember those days.
It's happened before....

Only thing I'd disagree with right offhand is adding any sort of damage to TK. And even that's not set in stone. Mostly arguing against it because I like keeping my confused buffer around as long as I can, shoving them where needed. That and I play mind doms as well, and would not want something else lowered to make up for having a damage secondary.
With a quick read, I agree overall on total dom - except for removing its aggro component. With the longer duration, etc. the aggro's just fine to keep in IMHO. Especially since, when it's about to wear off, stuff is either dead, has a secondary control on it, or is nice and confused in preparation.
And with a quick scan, I see the Mass Confuse vs SoC coming up again - MC's lack of aggro is a big plus to me. Yes, SoC is good as well, but it's in a much more offensive set, even when NOT in the hands of a Dom - Seeds, Roots, Creepers, AOE damage, watch XP roll in, rinse, repeat. Mind is more single-target focused when it comes to damage. NOT having that aggro be guaranteed in mind is, to me, a plus.
Personally I don't mind not having a pet, with all the other tricks in the set. (No pun intended.) -

The other major issue is the whole "villains fighting villains 24/7" vibe. In CoH, you're mostly fighting bad guys. In CoV, you fight one 'good' faction, and the rest of the time you're beating up fellow villains.

More than one.
Longbow. And longbow. And more longbow. And more longbow. And, look, more longbow!
That said, there's at least some *potential* good vs evil without them that just hasn't been picked up:
Legacy Chain - is just not delved into. And they vanish rather quickly.
Wyvern - if anyplace is good for turning "sorta-good" guys into bad, it's these. Why aren't we, as villains, trying this?
Where's the Civic Squad other than a brief mention?
Neutral:
Luddites - OK, more protesters than "good guys," admittedly. But again, more story that's just not touched on.
Scrapyarders - Yeah, I call them neutral. They'll fight against Cage, they know Mako killed Scrapyard, but looking at their dialog, most just want fair treatment and have been pushed too far, so they're striking back (as opposed to just striking.)
Yeah, perhaps I could throw in Wyvern here, too.
Arachnos.
... wait, arachnos? Yeah. Yes, Recluse and crew are evil. Yes, some of the rank-and-file are fanatics, hardcore, out for themselves - but the rest are a police force/army. Are they joining out of any real loyalty to Recluse, or because "this is my home, this is a good way to get a leg up and get a better life/looks good on the resume/looks good politically?" RL example - how many of the Soviet Union's army were fanatic communists, versus "This is at least a steady paycheck and meal, and better than working in the field?" I know, Arachnos rank-and-file dialog doesn't always tend toward that, but for the most part, well... 18-21 years of propaganda before joining up has an effect.
Saying all that, of course, brings out just how much story *isn't touched on at all.* The same's somewhat true blueside, admittedly, but a good number of the groups have stories that blend into each other.
I get, of course, having this massive population of low-level villains to fight. It's an MMO, you have to level somehow. And I get that it's hard to write "real" villainy - especially keeping it generic enough that more characters WOULD do something like whatever the plot would be, without being someone's lackey.
Doesn't mean it doesn't get old/tiring, or that there's not quite a bit of potential that's untouched, though. -

And about the possibility of kids playing and the parents have closed their chat window? Honestly, if they parent thinks they can't handle chat, they shouldn't be letting them play the game in the first place. Sorry, this game is rated T. If your kid can't play without interfering with others playing, don't inflict them on us. Or, at the very least, don't just let them go unmonitored and use the game (and us players) as a babysitter.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah, I have to agree with this as well. If the kid is too young to handle a T-rated game by themselves then the parent has no one to blame but themselves if junior gets upset or learns new words.
[/ QUOTE ]
Have to disagree, simply because I *know* some of those parents. They'll be nearby and watching anyway - but just because the chat window's there doesn't mean their kid has to be exposed to what goes on in it. Sometimes they DO just want to run around playing with or like their mom or dad, because they have someone dressed colorfully doing *stuff.* -
Or wait for Issue 15 where you can set levels (with some caveats as to behaviour. Not everything scales up, etc.)
-
[ QUOTE ]
You should go back and clear old arcs anyways especially if you have more than 1 arc open (red flag?) as that will stop you from getting really good arcs in the 40s.
[/ QUOTE ]
Note, this isn't the case exactly - There used to be red and gold "books," red being major, gold being minor (think I'm remembering that) story arcs, with limits to each. The books have changed to blue and green - and since I can't tell them apart thanks to the size of the icon (it's a tiny, tiny "bookmark" strip) ...
Well, look here. -
[ QUOTE ]
And does the Rikti have any other "hostages" heroes like Honoree, like the other heroes who went missing (can't remember their names off the top of my head) after the war.
[/ QUOTE ]
... note that you save two of them who have been in hiding/causing trouble.
And usually within a minute of them starting to chatter, you consider leaving them with the Rikti. -
I have the same thing on at least one character. Who definitely did the cape mission, as she's *wearing* a normal (Rings) cape at the moment - and the version on test has full access.
/petition to CS says it's a known issue being worked on. -
Don't forget, there ARE kids in the game (pre-teen, some very young.) Generally I'll do this:
First time - tell them "Thanks, I don't need the help though/not teaming right now" or some variant of that.
If they keep following me, right click, grab their info. If it's a kid playing, the parent may have their chat box minimized among other things - and will often have "This is being played by a 5 year old, they can't see chat" or some such in it. In which case, sigh, go to Wentworths or your SG base (since even wanting to help them... they won't see it) and kill a couple of minutes while they get bored.
If it's not a kid - often giving some lame response back (some I've gotten were "lol ur takin too long" when it takes a lower level three hits to kill a mob, or "you were in trouble" when I'm at full health and 3/4 END) I'll tell them again, I don't need the help and am not interested in teaming. If they continue to follow me through two or three more spawns doing the same thing, stop, /petition for harassment, drop them on global ignore and hit the SG base. With the timestamp on the petition, the GMs can see in the chat log that I've specifically said I didn't want or need help and they continued to "assist." Don't bother telling this type they're /petitioned, just get out of their sight and let them get bored.
Most of the time I've had it happen, it's either an accident/simul-attack from a corner, or a kid. Also, yeah, don't forget that anything that doesn't do damage (a Rad/ debuff, ice slick, earthquake, tar patch, taunt) doesn't affect your XP at all. -
I'd go for that too - my thinking was more that this would (potentially) not need much added functionality to do.
-
Yes, we've had other suggestions on how to pay base rent, having it pulled automatically, etc.
The biggest irritation from it (aside from "why are we bothering again?" it seems) is traveling to a specific location to do so (Atlas Park or Port Oakes.) This gets a touch more irritating if your base is powered down and you don't have a Pocket D teleporter (at least redside) or the marketeer teleporter.
So, to add to all the other suggestions on "how to make paying more convenient," how about an option at the bottom of the base entry list (either any base portal, the base teleporter power, etc.) to "Go to Pay Base Upkeep."
This teleports you and drops you right at the door to pay rent. (Or, barring that, at least to the correct zone's usual teleport drop site.) One click, in to pay, and you're up and running again.
(Now, personally, I like some of the other suggestions - pay at any arbiter/trainer/fateweaver/hero corps rep, pay automatically, let the leader have a "Pay now" button, etc. - but this is just one other option to chew over to at least make the travel slightly less irritating.) -
Why?
Should we have web server, forum, NCSoft Store entries as well?
Only thing I'm interested in is the status of the game "world" servers. -
[ QUOTE ]
When you choose your origin, it should affect on how exactly you use your powers and how they look.
[/ QUOTE ]
No. Absolutely not.
What's to say YOUR interpretation of my origin is the same as mine? Some people think "Magic" means dangling charms and waving their wands at everything, that Tech has to have gizmos everywhere, that Natural shouldn't be able to do anything like, oh, Fly.
For instance, my first 50 was an Elec/Elec blaster. Origin - Magic. She didn't use wands, chant spells or anything else. Her family is descended from priestesses of a forgotten goddess. She just channels the energy in the form that came to mind. Why should she have a "magic sigil" or wave a wand or something? That's not part of her.
If you pushed for origin-*inspired* pieces of costumes, customizations, etc... hey, fine. But telling me my character has to do something that, frankly, is out of character because of someone else's preconceived notion of "how an origin does things?" No freaking thanks.
(And I think I need to write up another cut-paste on this.) -
[ QUOTE ]
3) Red Side doesn't need Hazard zones (this is in response to the poster who wanted a red zone analog to them). It wouldn't make sinse.
Why would any villain stop another villain from entering a zone that's to tough for them?
That said, why do people keep wanting more zones redside? It's one draw for me, is that it's not bogged down with a bunch of zones.
[/ QUOTE ]
Who said anything about a villain doing so?
Hazard zones, for some of my characters, tend to be *fun.* Bigger spawns, more possibility of things going south *fast* if you're not really on your game. It's a different sort of gameplay from the mission-to-mission with maybe a SF gameplay redside has now.
As for why more zones? Something different from the current "We found a garbage dump and built a house here." I've made the statement before - blueside, I can roll multiple heroes and take totally different paths, rarely visiting the same zones other than passing through. While redside may not need to double what they have, *more* zones with more variety - and there have been many good ones suggested - would be very welcome, for both a visual break from the dirt and gloom and for the new contacts and adventures inside.
For instance, Blueside I can go:
Atlas - Hollows - Skyway - Talos - Brickstown - PI and be at 50.
Next character:
Galaxy - King's Row - Steel Canyon - Faultline - Croatoa - Founder's Falls - RWZ/Cimerora. I *may* have to dip into PI. Or may just want to.
Next character's going for atmosphere -
Galaxy - King's Row - Boomtown to hunt a bit, dip into Hollows to run Talshak's stuff - Play in Dark Astoria - run Croatoa - do Magic contacts like Cadao Kestrel, jump between zones- deal with RWZ and Cim since one has the Rikti trying to destroy magic, the other deals with the Midnighters.
Doesn't even deal with the (decent size) arcs you get if you roll a Kheld that you can add to this.
Redside?
Kalinda/Mongoose or Burke/Creed.
Newspaper.
Heck, Bocor, Vancetti, Radio. If you're suicidal, you can try to get ghosts and do Veluta's stuff, which isn't really worth the effort.
Wheeler, Brass, Roller, run back to mercy for Marino unless you're sick of her. Krylov and Percy. You might, MIGHT actually miss one. And don't bother counting the VEAT contacts. Early? Sure, actual arcs. But they quickly go to 2-3 mission *jokes,* ending at a *single* mission. It's exceptionally disappointing.
Heck, 20-26 there are as many contacts for one *origin* as for the entire level stretch redside. And for the redside count you have to find out that some of them are there to unlock, or it feels like even fewer.
Redside needs more contacts and more variety - which can be gotten, visually, through more zones. I can go through my contact chain redside in my sleep, and sometimes think I do. -
I believe it should be as well - I know I just saw it, reasonably sure it was a lvl 17-18 character.
Edit: Nope, unobtainable via ouro according to the wiki. -
>.<
Energy's issues - well, I'll let others get into that. Opinion may change on it whenever we get our buff after I15. We'll see.
Leadership...I'd say it's kind of early to even worry about. Pick a travel power and get its prerequisite, figure out if you feel you'll need Stamina or not (possibly not, depending on Domination.)
One thing I'll say you should do, if nothing else just so you can get ideas on where you want to go with the builds, is to go and grab Mids planner from the titan network. Also, go to and bookmark the Paragon Wiki and look at ... well, just about any question there, first. Good reference in general. -
1.
Return? >.> I'm assuming you're thinking of the CoP. That said, the only "SG TF" is redside - the mission computer/oracle is completely and totally useless blueside, and yes, should be utilized more, I agree. Both for this and perhaps SG-based MA missions. (Seen only through the computer.)
2.
Think they were working on this - no news, though. News would be good.
3.
Yeah, redside does need some, a good hazard zone analog, as well as more content. Blueside - I wouldn't argue with some revamps. No more coop for a good long while, please.
4.
Coming.
5.
"Eh" for me, but as long as they don't feel tacked on, why not.
6.
Plenty of suggestions have come up for these, in arena and zone. Some folks don't like PVP as it is because there's no "point" to it... this would, at least, get some of those folks involved. -
Going to start out with your ending comment:
[ QUOTE ]
NOTE: Please dont come in here with negativity, I aint got time for nonsense.
[/ QUOTE ]
Don't take criticism as negativity. "This sucks and so do you," well, that's unproductive negativity, yes. But negative comments ("The problem I see with this is..." and even "Well, we've heard from the devs this can't be done for X reason") can help you refine an idea, and should be taken specifically as that.
Don't know which way you meant it - but take the comments as what they are.
Now, as for the ideas themselves?
- Baseball
I'm not sure there *should* be a bonus for this, though it could be amusing. Honestly, just the off chance (say, 5% to hit, unenhanceable, unbuffable) that you might hit a teammate with the ball and "stun" them (no actual mez, just stars) might be worth the occasional laugh.
Alternately, just as a time-killer, "catch" with a teammate - which can be passed on to others - might be interesting, given how people seem to like the snowball. You trigger the power and toss to a target, they catch (with a chance to miss, yes,) and can toss the ball to someone else 'til someone misses or doesn't toss it in X amount of time.
- Basketball courts
Not sure what sort of work would have to go into making the hoops "real" hoops, but if they do that, give me a SG "hoop" I can either hang on the wall or, with pole, stick on the floor. Not sure about the "give inf," especially with being able to get your to-hit buffed with aim (especially with ATs that have no "Aim" inherent to their powersets.) If it's a small buff on each successful throw up to some cap, though, it'd be good for everyone.
- Costumes
The under-eyes stripe is available already, IIRC. (Not the one going across your eyes, but one actually under the eyes.)
- Trophy
Give an SG base item - large, small, trophy case with trophies. -
Yeah, my biggest argument when it comes to villain accolades is requiring PVP interaction for some of them, when heroside can ignore it completely.
I wouldn't argue if you had to get PVP badges to make PVP-specific accolades (that, like the PVP IO set PVP bonuses, worked only in PVP zones) - that makes sense, after all, people are doing what they like.
Not fond of the "If you want it, you have to go into PVP" for everyone, though - and that's with me *enjoying* it for the most part.
(And Eva's point for High Pain Threshhold... yeah, patrol XP hurts that. I try NOT to get debt, thanks - that, I think, should be looked at.)
