May have been someones bid for 28 mill that they accidentally added a zero to, making someone very happy and rich.
[/ QUOTE ]
Nope.
I had one drop (the way I can afford them, should I choose) that I didn't need - sold for 170 mil.
You can either be impatient and spend market prices, or be patient (and have a good network of friends) and wait for them to drop or trade. *shrug* -
Only one of those task forces goes for "most hated" (Quarterfield.) The others aren't so bad. And there's a little bit of content in there, actually.
That said, yes, it needs more. -
I don't mind higher requirements for this - but I do think this is a little extreme, yes. I have characters that pretty much do *all* the IO crafting of commons for the SG that don't have this.
I think 10 badges might be a little low for it - there are a LOT of IOs out there - but, say, Craftsman (500 inventions) might have this tied to it.
I disagree with having the set IOs count for the category IOs, though. That's just cheesy to me. -
/seconding Oldeb.
I have over 12 characters on some servers. Giving me a full server swap for $25 would definitely be a bargain for me (not that I'd do so) and a huge chunk of potential income gone for them. $150 of transfers (15 characters on one server) for $25? I don't think they'd go for that, for some reason.
The packages make sense.
Of course, having to purchase extra slots for those characters would have to be separate. -
While not "secret," there are plenty of little out of the way places that are just nice to go to. No enemies (usually,) no missions, nobody zipping by on their way anywhere - there are islands south and (west?) of the ferry in Peregrine that are rather nice and relaxing feeling, not to mention the various waterfalls in Founders and Talos.
I do agree with the Moth Cemetery mausoleum (of course, I like DA in general,) and the Shard - especially the different skies you can come across. Just give me the sky as an (animated) background for my PC...
And even though you need to go into a TF to see it, pretty much the whole Crystal Guardian map. Giant bones and such sticking out, a different texture from anywhere else - Really wish we had more areas like that.
Of course, there's the "technical interest" of the pool on the west side (outside) of the Grandville walls - the only spot, pre-Cimerora, that you could "swim" in three dimensions in. -

That's a fairly good idea. I'd suggest moving it to Jay's Costume Request thread up at the top.
Nicely done, Artic!

[/ QUOTE ]
Rain-On-Your-Parade Technicality Note: Jay just makes the costumes, he doesn't decide how we get them or where in the menus they're found. Because of that, this is a job for someone on the coding team, since they're the ones who create the menu layouts.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm reasonably sure he was involved in one of the last "reorganizations" of those menus... about the time skirts twisted sideways.
But I may be rmembering wrong. -

I'm seeing $800-$1k notebooks with real graphics cards as opposed to integrated these days. Been somewhat tempted, too.
Maybe once Win7 comes out. (Though it'll have to be a bit more than $1k. And I'll spend a few hours ripping preinstalled junk out, I know.) Already have two desktops... -

I spent a couple minutes once trying to go in the "out" door of the tram,
[/ QUOTE ]
We've all done that. It's a CoH rite of passage.
[/ QUOTE ]
::chuckle:: I still remember the time I left a character parked at the out door and then when I logged back in couldn't figure out why the tram wasn't working....
[/ QUOTE ]
... at least we don't have to go tram to tram to cross multiple zones. -
Of all of them, I have to work on motivation to play the VEATs. :P
Generally, I have a good group of folks to play with, so it really "just happens" - look up, notice I'm at 48, mention it and say "let's try to get this one done." If the character's put down for a while, it's because we're working on *other* characters right then. -
And while we're at it -
Follow the link in my signature to the wiki. Bookmark it.
That leads to the ParagonWiki. While player-created and player-maintained, it's a good source of information. You can search on archetypes and look through powersets, search on whatever you have a question on (such as "Enhancements,") read through lore and more.
And ignore the AE completely this time up.
Soloing really isn't that hard in the game, and even then - you're still going to be invited to teams.
Click on "Team." In the blank area, type in "No AE teams please" - again, given what you went through, you want to avoid the AE. There are plenty of folks out there who are quite happy to do missions, task forces and more. (And "What is a task force?" Well... look it up in the wiki!
)

It used to be access to another zone (I don't recall if it was perez or not,) yes - there's never been any actual gate there since... well, launch.

Okay 10$ is not alot in most senses but im also one of the very few people of age 17 playing this game and yes i played when i was 12 over 5 years ago! i make jewelery and sell it at craft fairs and i make a some good money doing this for the summer. Along the lines of expenses i just got a brand new car for my 17th birthday unlike most kids my age im trying to be some what responsible for it and paying as mutch of the monthly payments as i can! so when 90% of my money is being put into a car $10 is alot D:!
[/ QUOTE ]
Congratulations. I don't think anyone really asked for your financial situation.
[/ QUOTE ]
I will say he's in better shape, though, than the guy who insisted the game was too expensive because he was also paying a bunch for porn, for his brother to clean his apartment, for a bunch of other video games each month, etc. etc. etc.
Wouldn't be quite so hard on him - though I kept this going while unemployed, dealing with a sick wife, etc. - since after all, this IS about the time to really get a handle on budgeting and such. Big difference from "allowance" to "job and serious expenses with consequences" in the teens

Thanks all for the amazing advice. I ended up making a Fire/Energy Blaster and I'm loving it so far,
[/ QUOTE ]
That set... is quite a bit of fun, even if my blaster with it is one of the most reckless ones I play.
Good damage at all ranges.

and even though this game doesn't have that same open and alive world as WoW, it's still fun as hell to play. I look forward to meeting everyone and if you see me around stop by and say hello

Most of my virtueites are redside -
As far as the open world, we don't have as many "hunt 10 this" and such (and no spawn camping!) so, yeah, most people are "inside" doing missions... but what would you expect in a city?
-
Yeah, a LOT of extra info is needed.
That said, just on the mission you mentioned (unlocking extra slots) -
1. Drop your reputation to Heroic. *shrug* Just on general principle, if you're having trouble, lower the rep.
2. Grab breakfrees. You'll be fighting Tsoo, which have ink men (mezzing) and Ancestor Spirits (stuns.)
3. Keep at range.
4. Go down the west side, between the tailor and the hospital. Attack greys. Just to get that over with.
If you're doing the cape mission, same thing - break frees because of the anathema.
Plus, all the other questions - what powersets, how are you slotted, and what are you doing for each spawn? -
If you don't remember, type /whereami and it'll tell you server and zone/map.
-
Well, drop down into the Scrapper board and poke around.
Fire's two parts - and you don't have to take them together - Fiery Aura and Fire Melee. Fiery Aura's a pretty decent resist-based set (including AOE damage, a self heal and an End recovery power,) just be aware it has no knockback resistance and plan accordingly. (Full disclosure - Fire Aura's my favourite set on tanks. I am most assuredly biased.)
Champion's not a bad server - and with the upcoming double XP weekend, won't get locked out (Freedom generally will be capped, Virtue may be.) To get an idea of server load (which is not *directly* a result of population, but it does play a part,) just look at the server select screen - it goes from last on, then lowest to highest load.
You may also want to go into the Champion server boards and find a supergroup, and watch for events that are going on.
Welcome to the game! -

Question: Has anyone ever died from falling?
[/ QUOTE ]You can't, it always stops at 1 hp. I've tried
(way back when it might have been able to kill you, but that'd been a long time ago)
[/ QUOTE ]
I want to say it used to be able to and was changed years ago, but can't find it in the patch notes. Might be a PVP change of some sort I'm half-remembering. -

Edit:
If you were on a team full of people making fun of you because you didn't have IOs, you were on a team full of complete and utter idiots. An IO'd out character does not mean the player is any *good.*
I'd rather have a team full of people on TOs that know how to play and have fun doing it than a team full of idiots with a five mile long list of set bonuses.
Edit 2:
To touch on specific questions:
[ QUOTE ]
i get confused on how to get them, what they are, how to manage them, etc.
[/ QUOTE ]
I still say go to the wiki, but for a readers digest version:
IOs are Invention Origin enhancements. They, like TOs (Training Origin,) DOs (Dual Origin) and SOs (Single origin) are enhancements you slot into your powers to increase various attributes.
Unlike the previously mentioned TOs/DOs/SOs, though, IOs do not expire. If you slot a level 10 Accuracy (for instance,) at level 50 it will still be providing a bonus (where a regular level 10 enhancement would be useless by 14.)
Also, IOs cannot be combined - if you try to drag, say, a level 30 Acc IO on top of that level 10 IO, where a regular enhancement would attempt to combine and (if successful) give you a level "30+" enhancement, an IO will just replace it. IOs cannot combine with other enhancements.
There are two "subsets," if you will, of IOs:
- Common IOs.
These are just like the regular enhancements you get, being just plain damage, accuracy, and the like.
- Set IOs
These are what people were probably making comments about. Set IOs come in, well, a set of a specific type (melee, range, AOE and the like,) and each set is named. Each IO in a set can enhance from one to four attributes (say, Damage, or Damage/Accuracy, Damage/Accuracy/Recharge, or Dam/Acc/Rech/Endurance.) If it enhances more than one, the value for each is diminished - but not cut in half. (Again, follow the link.)
While you can only have one type of IO *from a set* in a specific power, you can mix and match sets in a power (aka Frankenslotting,) and can have multiples of the same set across a build. (For instance, Crushing Impact, a Melee set, might have a Damage and Damage/Acc in a power. You could not put another Damage/Acc from Crushing Impact in that same power, but you could put it in another power.)
Why worry about sets? Because of set bonuses.
When you have more than one piece of a set slotted in a power, you will get a bonus to something. While at the wiki, search for "Invention Origin Enhancement Sets." For instance, two pieces of a set might give you 5% Regeneration. Three pieces might add 1.5% Recovery. Four pieces, 5% Defense and so on. Each bonus at a specific value can stack up to five times. While there's no limit on the number of times you can use a specific set over an entire character (short of having appropriate powers,) the bonuses dont' stack past five times.
(The exception is the rare Purple set, dropping only from enemies 47+ that can drop recipes - these you can have only one of each set piece in per build.)
How to get them -
You can buy them at Wentworths.
You can buy them from Invention tables.
They will drop from enemies as you defeat them.
To use:
Open the recipe, it will list the salvage. Missing salvage (and INF) is in red. If it's all lit up, you can make it at any invention table, such as those in the University. -
I played my latest 50 Peacebringer as a primarily human (dual build - other build was triform) around that time, from... pretty sure high-20s to low-30s all the way through 50.
It was certainly *different.*
Still far less annoying than dealing with the VEATs to me, IMHO.

Note: It's a small wastage of space, but I mount up all 5 teleporters. Why waste a long-recharge travel power (Pocket D VIP Pass) when I shouldn't have to?
So, for me, it's slightly more expensive.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm assuming you're going with both the Pocket D and RWZ beacons, then - in which case, yeah, you'd need another.
Don't tend to visit Pocket D enough to want to burn a porter slot on it myself. *shrug* Besides, I was mostly looking at "all villain zones."

[ QUOTE ]
Back on topic however, I see someone mentioned coralax.
I would LOVE to be able to make a coralax toon. In that body form also! Would be a lot of fun & have good canon (or however you say that) as in could be tied to the lore of the game. :-)
[/ QUOTE ]
I have, frankly, been waiting for this - they're perfectly suited to work against both sides of the game. That said, the "plan" was to bring Incarnates in next. No word on how that's going. -
[ QUOTE ]
Just an FYI, if your Villain base is still fairly small (8x8 or 8x12) go with individual 2x2 TP rooms rather than the monster 5x5 TP room.
It costs just a little bit more, but you have less wasted floorspace and you won't have to burn the prestige on a plot upgrade as soon.
[/ QUOTE ]
Actually, it's cheaper (villainside) to go with the two 2x2 teleporter rooms.
2 - 2x2 Teleporter rooms, 2 porters each (room cost only) - 200,000 Pres
Secure bay 1 (holds 4 teleporters) - 253,000
Secure Bay 2 (also holds 4) - 275,000
In between there's a room that holds 3 for 162,500. That plus a single-bay, single-destination room would cover all the Isles (except the RWZ and/or Pocket D) but still run 212,500.
I go with the one room when I can and other things are taken care of mostly for a nice, centralized "space."
