Considering that I hammered it out in two sessions and didn't go back through to check for problems I'm betting a lot more typos show up. I'm not a goth, never have been a goth and never would give in to that "I gotta look like everyone else" fad. Although there aren't so many goths around now so the look like everyone else factor isn't there as much as it used to be.

However I do love Gothic metal. I dare anybody to listen to "Dark Passion Play" by Nightwish and not immediately become a fan.

Arc #250142 Lockdown

A heroic 4 mission arc that involves an escalating danger to the city and culminates with a showdown against several elite bosses. (Not all at once).

Longbow needs your help. A massive villain group has made a surprise attack on the forcefield generating stations throughout Paragon. Longbow squadrons have been dispatched but there aren't nearly enough agents available to handle such a massive strike. An emergency call has gone out requesting the aid of any available heroes, including you.

This is a story driven arc that is designed for teams and designed to be tough. It spans all levels but probably shouldn't be attempted until the group is in their teens. The challenge level is intended to be much like the Faultline arc or at higher levels like the Praetorian missions. I meant this arc to feel like a silver age comic book story where the main opponents weren't paramilitary organizations or alien invasions but instead were extremely powerful costumed and themed super villains with loyal minions.

To be truthful I have no idea how tough it actually would be for teams because I've only tested it solo on my level 47 scrapper.

I would greatly appreciate any feedback either positive or negative.

That would be cool. Even supergroups who were out of prestige could furnish their bases.

Yes. When first introduced you did indeed remain as a pumpkin until you moved. The rumor as to why that aspect was removed is that players in pvp were using it to be able to hide behind short walls and objects or in shallow water. Since only their name would be visible they were a lot harder to spot when moving quickly around.

I'm going with the odds on favorite and most common cause. A reskinning program like Windowblinds. This is a program that gives your interface a custom feel to it. It's by Stardock so it will usually be found in a subfolder of stardock on your programs list. Tell it not to reskin any program in the city of heroes directory.

Second most common cause of this problem. A graphics tablet installed. Only solution for that one is to not only remove the tablet but uninstall it and remove its drivers.

If you are using Firefox just type about:config into the address bar. Then change the value of image.animation_mode from normal to none. That will prevent all gif animations.

Meh, I use Ventures reviews just like I use any movie reviews. I read the basic plot summary and then if it's in the genre I like I decide if I will go see it. Venture is just like any movie reviewer.

Some reviewers will go see a movie that has drama, depth, amazing performances and unbelievable special effects. Then they will give the movie a low rating because the actors accent was distinctly a New Jersey accent when he was supposed to be from New York. Heck, when Big Trouble in Little China first came out Siskel and Ebert gave a bad rating because it was too unbelievable.

Venture is the same way with his "Tropes" and especially with time travel. And I have seen him ranting in VU2009 over how difficult an arc is and how he has died 15 times so far. Then I run through the same arc with no problem. Different play styles, different likes and dislikes. A review isn't an actual indication of how good or bad your arc is. It's just one persons opinion. And Venture's opinion holds no more weight than that of anybody else. It's only level of importance is that which you assign to it.

When the speed limit of the road is raised from 50 to 60 and suddenly your car can't keep up with the rest of the traffic that doesn't mean that the freeway is bugged.

When your county road maintenance department refuses to patch all the potholes in your local streets so it takes you an hour just to get 10 miles that doesn't mean that the problem is the new buildings that the city is putting up.

Just because you can't get a signal from your cell phone carrier where you live that doesn't mean everybody has terrible cell phone service.

And calling people jerks just because they point out to you that they aren't experiencing any of the problems you are will not suddenly cause them to experience those problems nor will it magically make your problems go away.

That particular problem was indeed a video driver one. I had it myself at one point but don't remember if that was back when I was using an ATI card or if I had already switched to Nvidia.

It's almost certainly the power supply. 450 isn't that great and I'm willing to bet it's a non name brand which means that the wattage to the rails will likely be lower than it should.

And bets are in. Mateo picked the odds on favorite of insufficient memory. Mandu is going big and trying for the trifecta of insufficient memory, single core processor, and no dedicated video. Any more wagers before the betting window is closed?

How is it that Peter Noone seems to know everything? I thought that no one knew when except the devs but I should have known that Noone would have the inside scoop.

Right click on your desktop shortcut to the updater. Then choose properties. Under target it probably looks like this
"C:\Program Files\City of Heroes\CohUpdater.exe"

Change it to look like this

"C:\Program Files\City of Heroes\CohUpdater.exe" -port 13094

Notice, there is a space before -port 13094, and that addition goes outside the quotes.

From the symptoms I'm going to guess you have a very low quality computer that isn't really made for gaming. The long load times followed by a crash is almost always a sign of a slow processor combined with less than 1 gig of ram and an onboard video chip rather than a video card.

Please download and run CoHHelper and Hijack This

The first one will let us know what sort of system you have set up and what driver versions you have. The second one will show what programs you have running so we can see which ones if any might be interfering.

The driver date in CoH Helper shows as 01/01/0001. They are probably corrupt.

Uninstall current drivers

Run Driver Sweeper to clean fully

Install new drivers.

Change the names of the files. Remove the .eu part and it should work fine.

At least I'm guessing that still works since it only took thesourchicken 20 seconds to get it working and nothing else would be that fast.

Unless the creator has a global that is a common word. I'm sure somebody must have the global @war and somebody else must have the global @robot. Searching for there names would unleash a flood of unrelated stuff. In fact searching for @venture returns every arc with the word adventure.

What does it matter? They won't get exp or even a badge unless they are there for a significant part of the final mission. You can kick them if they show back up.

Try installing the latest version of directx. Your crash report shows a "not found" on a lot of the directx .dll files.
