Trial Account Problem
I know it can take a moment for the account to swap over but it should still let you in.
I would go ahead and change my password and try to log in.
I changed the password once just incase, I'll try again but i dont think it will make much difference.
EDIT: Just tried it again and still doesn't work
Go to the support center and submit a support ticket. There are account bugs of various types going around recently.

Check the files in your game directory. The most common cause of this is installing the European version and having a North American account or vice versa.
The names of the executable files for the NA client are cityofheroes.exe and cohupdater.exe. For the EU client they are cityofheroes.eu.exe and cohupdater.eu.exe.
Don't count your weasels before they pop dink!
How do you find out what kind of Account you have? i have the EU client but even when going from the EU site it leads me to the same account page as the NA site.
You have a North American account, otherwise you would not be able to post here.
This is just from a vague memory but currently I don't believe there are any trial accounts available for the EU version except through the "invite a friend" program.
The first thing you can attempt is just to remove the .eu from the filenames. Once upon a time long ago this would work perfectly but I don't know if it does any more.
If that doesn't work then I would suggest going Here and downloading cohupdater.exe file. Delete the executable files and the checksum from your city of heroes directory. Then run the cohupdater.exe from your desktop and point it at the directory that your current city of heroes is installed in. You have to run it from the desktop otherwise it will try to overwrite itself and fail. If things work out correctly then running it should wind up just having to download the updater and executables and then verify everything else. I could be wrong but that's likely to be the quickest method of getting the NA version set up since the two are almost identical.
Once you are in game then post here and I'm sure you can get yourself a partner to show you the ropes. The CoH community is a friendly and helpful one.

And off topic. Happy B-Day Lisar!

Thanks VERY much Mandu for that, that worked perfectly and only took about 20 seconds for everything
I'm not sure what server to go with so I'll go for the most populated server "Freedom"
Maybe I should start including instructions with my suggestions.
So is there no way to procure the NA client other than by going through ncsoft/cohupdater?
I ask because i have the same problem (downloaded the eu client) but have a recently upgraded US account, and i can only get about a maximum of around 20-40kb/s from the updater on a good day.. and let me tell you 2.7 gig @ 40kb/s is a LONG time.. not even worth it, if you ask me.
Follow the instructions in Mandu's post above.
Also, if you have any friends in your area you could copy their CoH folder to your computer, delete the log files and screenshots files, copy the updater to your desktop and point it to the folder you copied the files to.
If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

thanks, but you entirely didnt answer my question, or i didnt explain it correctly.
I cant use the small NA client because of download speed issues (honestly, would you wait for a 8-10 hour download and be cheerful about it?)
As far as the second point goes, no, not really.. so i guess im either just stuck waiting the 10 hours for the game download, or marking it down to yet more money wasted with ncsoft and learn a valuable lesson (i had a similar problem with dungeon runners, too).
Well, thanks anyway for your help. I appreciate the fast response.
Change the names of the files. Remove the .eu part and it should work fine.
At least I'm guessing that still works since it only took thesourchicken 20 seconds to get it working and nothing else would be that fast.

Another option, which may or may not be feasible for you, would be to take your computer to a friends house, a business or even to a local computer shop that has a faster connection and run the updater to get the files.
If you go to a personally owned computer shop, some of them are quite friendly and willing to be of help in a case like this.
Since I don't know your personal situation, all I can do is offer some suggestions.
If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

[/ QUOTE ] You could buy a retail BOXED version of the game. The CD/DVD included will install most of it for you and will cut down your download time significantly. It'll only have to download an update patch instead of the full client.

And it will get you a month of playtime with the included code. Depending on which box version you find, you can also get access to either the Magic Pack or the Cyborg Pack if you buy the Architect Edition box set.
And yes, I've seen some older boxed versions still on the shelves at some small computer shops and software outlets.
Seems a bit odd seeing the CoH DvD Collector Box set and GvE still on shelves, but the people I've talked to in those shops said they like having them there and dread when someone actually wants to buy them. Those guys are a bit quirky, but fun to visit with.

thank you VERY MUCH. I did just that, and it completely did the trick.
Also, thank you everyone else for the lightning fast responses, i really do appreciate you all trying to help, and i do apologise for originally sounding irritated.
Certainly, it should be noted somewhere that you can do a folder swap (so long as you run the NA updater from your desktop, which you aquire by running the 10 mb NA client installer).
I'm off to play CoV, thanks again!

Mateo, glad you were able to rephrase what Mandu's earlier post said in a way that I apparently wasn't able to convey by telling them to follow Mandu's instructions.

[/ QUOTE ] I admit I didn't read the whole thing and didn't realize that was already suggested. Glancing through, it looked like Mandu was just suggesting renaming the EXE, and you agreeing. I'm not sure why that would ever work anyway since the actual file contents would still be the same. You could rename it PleaseWorkNAO.exe and still come up with the same results. lol
Mandu reinforced that again after the OP got it fixed in "20 seconds".. when it was apparently the other alternate method they used. I see now that it must have been the alternate suggestion you were referring to when you said to follow Mandu's post. It seems the other person skipped over it just as I did. Oops!
Either way, the OP (and somebody else) got it fixed, so that's a win for everybody. lol
Hey i wondered if anyone could help me, I activated a trial account about 30 Minutes ago and got the confirmation E-Mail to say it was active and i can happily log into the site aswell with the same details.
The problem is when i try and log into the game it says "The account name or password that you have entered is incorrect." Even when i know the account details are right.
Does it take longer to activate the trial account even when it says its active? Or is there another reason why it wont let me log into the account?
Thanks for any help, its greatly appreciated
