And if the above advice doesn't get you there, try posting in the Technical Issues and Bugs section of the forums (make sure you read the "++ Common Solutions & Posting Guidelines ++" post first). They're a great group of people in that thread and should get you all fixed up.
From the symptoms I'm going to guess you have a very low quality computer that isn't really made for gaming. The long load times followed by a crash is almost always a sign of a slow processor combined with less than 1 gig of ram and an onboard video chip rather than a video card.
Please download and run CoHHelper and Hijack This
The first one will let us know what sort of system you have set up and what driver versions you have. The second one will show what programs you have running so we can see which ones if any might be interfering.

I'm guessing insufficient memory. We'll see when the reports come down..
And bets are in. Mateo picked the odds on favorite of insufficient memory. Mandu is going big and trying for the trifecta of insufficient memory, single core processor, and no dedicated video. Any more wagers before the betting window is closed?

[/ QUOTE ] Oh man.. I should have gone with the trifecta too.. lol

I know someone who played CoH on dial-up when it first came out. He was always lagging and disconnecting. Then he went and got married and I haven't seen him since...

I played on dial-up for a year and some months. It didn't play like the OP's symptoms, so I am putting my money elsewhere, probably too little RAM and/or old or no graphics card.
IIRC, one of the active Tech Issues frequent posters plays on dial-up, though I can't remember which one it is off the top of my head.

Something I found a few weeks ago. A trojan that my virus protection isn't screening out. When I start my computer, I pull up the task manager, look under processes, and find the non vital one that is taking up 99% of my CPU. In my case it hides in the svchost.
I started with 56k Dialup, 256 MB RAM, onboard sound, and an PNY Verto GeForce MX200 w/32 MB SDRAM. Villains was NOT an option.
I still have the onboard RealTek on-board sound.
Mizz, what AV program are you using? My personal choice is AVG Free. I had a trojan a few years back, and Norton, Avast!, and um... one other popular one I forget (Not McAffee), all claimed that they got the trojan. I'd reboot, and it was still there. Someone told me to try AVG, and it not only got the trojan, but other stuff that those other scanners missed...

My money is on malware.
Hey there, I'm having a problem with the game. Everytime I open the game it takes forever for the screen to pop up, (and sometimes the games even closes before the login appears). And then when I try to log into a character it starts to load and completely stops and I end up at the login screen again. This can also happen when I try to go into missions... but not always. Does anyone have any advice that can help me? Thanks so much in advanced.
