  2. BRB now please.

Heck, I'll spend a ton of tokens and points just to get the ability to spawn it.
  3. Tick should be number 2. If it had lasted more than two seasons I would have put it at number 1.
  4. I'm sure it was a very special thread Steelclaw. One which required a lot of thought and alcohol.

I want the charity aura for myself. And I want the mudball temp power.
  5. Let's say you have a store that gives out free samples in hopes of getting you to buy the product that you are sampling.

Now lets say you have a person who comes into the store every single day faithfully and tries each and every sample.

It doesn't matter if they keep coming back to the store for three months, three years or three decades. Unless they actually buy something they aren't a customer at all let alone a good customer. And the only reason to give them a real product for free would be as a bribe to keep them away and leave the samples for people who might actually buy something.

    Comics Anyone?

None in good shape but all the original series. Not the reprints or spinoffs.

    Metal Men #1-3
    X-Men 1-10
    Hulk #3

And some others I can't remember right now. Maybe I'll dig the boxes out this weekend or something.
  7. seriously if you want group control I love love love Dual Blades scrappers. It takes a while to get them to the point where they have all the chains needed but once there I can keep an entire group bouncing on the ground and almost never getting a shot at me. DB has multiple knockdown attacks. Sweep PBAOE knockdown. Vengeful Slice cone knockdown.

But the most important part of it is that even without global recharge bonuses you can use sweep often enough to keep any non tiny mob from ever climbing to their feet. The only ones I have trouble playing earthquake with are redcaps. And I can even manage them with a lot of maneuvering and timing and I probably wouldn't even need that with some global recharge.
  8. I just wish I had a bolo. A tank 5 stories tall would be awesome.

  9. I was happy to be able to make the contribution that pushed it over 6k, and then watch it skyrocket as more and more people donated. Plus you guys were entertaining as all get out. Rock Band legends indeed.

    Zones froze over?!

Why the hell did that get taken out of the game?! That sounds AWESOME!! D=

I believe the reason given for removing that aspect is that if somebody happened to log out before the event in a body of water that got frozen when the event happened that they could wind up being stuck in the ice. Of course this was before the /stuck command and the pocket d transporter and base teleports and wentworth teleport and O portal etc etc etc... so it would probably be no problem now. And I would love to see it again.
  11. It's history lesson time kids.

Once upon a time giant monsters spawned rarely, did not have their own announcement channel, and gave huge experience rewards.

This was a pretty cool thing. Somebody would broadcast that Lusca was up and it would take time to gather the two or more teams required for a beatdown. This was also before IOs and even SOs weren't easy to get so the GMs presented a real challenge.

Now part of the problem is that experience was shared equally among the team. This meant that if you had a fairly balanced team in the right level range you could gain two or three bars of experience from Lusca. GMs didn't scale back then so it also meant that if you had 2 level 50s and 6 level 1s on the team Lusca would drop fast. The level 50s would get some trivial amount of experience that they didn't need anyway and the level 1s would get half a level or better.

This made power leveling fast but sporadic because like I said, the monsters spawned rarely and people flocked to the event because it was good experience and unusual. Then came the rise of the Winterlords.

Winterlords when originally brought into existence weren't like they are today. Originally all the zones froze over. Bodies of water everywhere turned into ice. And the Winterlords would spawn in multiple locations in various zones each of them appropriate level to the zone but worth tremendous experience. Level 50s flocked to the low level zones and gathered up their flocks of lowbies. Then they would fly or sprint or teleport from place to place and put the smackdown on the Winter Lords.

This meant it was almost impossible for lowbies to enjoy the challenge of fighting a GM because almost as soon as it spawned there would be 3 or 4 level 50 toons there killing it with a few hits. Meanwhile the groups of lowbies who were teamed with those level 50's would watch their experience bar climb half a level, three quarters of a level, sometimes even an entire level with each Winterlord that spawned. And soon Atlas parks all across the servers were filled with level 50s asking where the tram was, where PI was and what did PI stand for? They came to be known as Winterlord babies.

That is when the devs instituted a major beatdown on GMs. Unfortunately they approached it from two different angles and wound up instituting those two different angles at the same exact time. The first one is that they dropped the experience per monster to about one tenth what it formerly was. Kind of harsh but it would stop any of the half a level kills. But at almost the same time they put in the scaling of the GMs so that no matter what level you fought them at they were level appropriate to you.

This glorious combination of tactics now meant that if you actually fought the GMs as they were originally intended to be fought with a full team of zone level appropriate characters it became great fun. You could spend a few minutes to half an hour fighting, possibly take a couple trips to the hospital (especially in the case of Lusca) and when all was said and done get approximately the same amount of experience you would get for a solo defeat of one lieutenant level mob. Which if you were lucky might wipe out half the debt you got fighting them.

At which point the GMs became just another thing for badge hunters to go after. Although I do sometimes stop and wave at Lusca. After all she spends all her time waving at the tourists on the docks. I bet she likes it when somebody occasionally acknowledges her with an answering wave.
  12. I'll be the odd man out here and say that I love ambushes. Yes I faceplant a lot but I also like the rush of seeing if my blaster who is already half dead and low on inspirations can somehow survive.

That being said whenever I'm not in the mood for something like that I make sure to visit the market before hand and purchase two or three large lucks.

But even though I myself love those ambushes I'll have to say they should be changed because it's obvious that so many people hate them.
  13. After seeing yet another returning player unable to find their old characters I've come up with an idea. I would like to see an alternate character selection screen. Not a replacement screen but rather an alternate screen that you can switch to from your server selection screen and back.

This screen would consist of a screen full of small character icons approximately the size of our forum avatars. Each one would be listed alphabetically by character name and under their name would be the server they are on.

That way new players or returning players would be able to find the characters they wanted to use without having to play the server/character page juggling act. Also this would prove of use to those altaholics who find themselves wondering "Just where was it that I left my elec/elec blaster Zzzzzzzkkkkk that I played on Haloween 2 years ago?".
  14. Just make sure you check through each of the servers by name. The server list is constantly changing because of how it is set up.

Top server on the list is the last server you were on.

Each server from that point down is listed from lightest load to heaviest load.

If you haven't been on any servers since you installed the game then the list is just lightest load to heaviest.

This means you absolutely can not work your way from the top of the list to the bottom or the bottom up. If you were on say Freedom last it's on the top. Then let's say you click on liberty which is third in the list. When you back out of Liberty to the server selection screen the list will now be Liberty at the top and Freedom will be in one of the bottom two because it's always one of the two busiest. Since the servers are no longer in their original order just going down the list will always wind up skipping at least a couple. That's why you have to check each by name.

Second. Each server has multiple pages that the characters can be on. Usually they are on the first page but occasionally a glitch puts them on a different page. So you have to check each page on each server to make sure everything is covered. If you only had a couple characters and played them a while ago it can make finding them a chore.
  15. I also noticed that you rerolled UF between episodes 8 and 9. Too bad really because the archery nuke (rain of arrows) is awesome.
  16. Not bad so far. I'm just boggled that you got Unbridled Fury. You must have had a place holder.
  17. Young Justice was great but I am really really really getting tired of kid flash being nothing more than some guy who can run around 60mph and occasionally grab something out of a villain's hands but mostly just get knocked down.

Weapon Sheathed: Animate redraw (1s) then animate power (3s)

Result: Power always takes 4s to animate. The redraw penalty is baked into every attack, but there is no cost to redraw when playing.

    How it works now:

    Redraw: 1s
    Animation: 3s

    Weapon Out: Animate power (3s)
Weapon Sheathed: Animate redraw (1s) then animate power (3s)

Result: Power is much stronger because it doesn't have a built in delay. There is now a cost to redrawing your weapons when playing.
This is correct. The dev team was just having too much difficulty balancing the times out so the powers came out equal across the board. That and because players were complaining that they were being penalized for having weapons out because they were frozen for a period of inaction. It was purely perception but in most cases perception is everything. My own suggestion was to add in a extra little animation.

    Example:
Weapon Sheathed: Animate redraw (1s) then animate power (3s)
Weapon Drawn: Animate power (3s) then animate flourish (twirl of the blade, character spin, hammer toss and catch etc... (1s)

This way once your weapon was out you would have a constant flow of a fight with zero pauses (unless you didn't use an attack). It would be just like in the movies. Watch weapon combat in a movie some time and you will notice that a good percentage of the weapons movement isn't an attack or a defense but just an extra flourish thrown in. It makes the combat look much more fluid and fast. It's understandable why they didn't implement my idea though since it would have been a bunch of extra animations.

And yes the reason there is redraw is so that they don't have to create new animations for every single weapon set out there in combination with every single power that can also be had with that set. Let's suppose for example a scrapper were to take darkness mastery as their app. If there were no weapon redraw then an animation would have to be created for dark blast to emanate from a clawed hand, a katana, a broadsword, and dual blades. And that is just one attack for scrappers. An alternate animation would have to be come up with for every possible combination of a weapon and a power that normally used the hand holding that weapon. That's a lot of animations.

Mind you, Doc Savage and his team also used to give the villains they captured a delicate brain operation to remove their evilness, teach them a lawful trade, and release them back into society as productive citizens, so these were clearly not books being written by anyone who knew anything whatsoever about science in the first place.
I'm pretty sure that it was explained in at least one of the books that the bullets were glass shells that contained a powerful tranquilizer. The glass cut the skin and allowed the tranquilizer to enter the blood.

I've got the entire series of books around here somewhere in a box though it has probably been 20 years since I read any of them. I wish these books were in the public domain so somebody could release a mega anthology for the Kindle.

    Movies....

The Matrix 2 is pretty lame but does have the best live action mech combat sequences I've yet seen in a movie.
  21. I've been thinking. Those of you who think that somebody who isn't a cop but steps in and breaks up a fight that is none of his business should be arrested. Do you feel the same way about bouncers? Start a fight in a club and they will break it up and toss you out.

Since I know you are about to use the "That's different, it's private property." argument I'll head you off. Start a fight in the street in front of a club and the bouncers there will still break it up even though you are on public property. Fights out front aren't good for business. So should the bouncers be arrested and shamed for breaking up fights that are none of their business and using physical force against somebody who didn't attack them first?

    I can fly!

The one ability that I have in every single dream (at least every dream in which it might come up) is the ability to not be injured. Stab me, shoot me, hit me with a car, drop a cliff on me or whatever. The most that happens is I feel a slight ache and continue on as if nothing had happened.

If I had been in Nightmare on Elm Street III then Freddie would have been seriously annoyed.

Other abilities that show up occasionally are flight and the ability to phase through object at will.

    Movies....

Just remembered another one that probably isn't popular with too many people.

    Jingle All The Way

    "It's turbo time!"
  24. Latest word is that they are not going to try and press any charges against Phoenix. He was in court for less than 10 minutes.

My own suspicion is that the cops did this so that he would have to unmask in hopes that would dissuade him from continuing to patrol.

    Movies....

    Sky High (yeah, me too)
    The Crow
    The Matrix
    Blade
    Mystery Men
    Dark City
    Scott Pilgrim vs the World
    Equilibrium
    The Incredibles
    Demolition Man
    Running Man

Probably tons more that I can't think of at the moment. And I've seen each of these movies probably somewhere in the triple digits. The reason for that is a lot of the time I'll keep the tv on in the background and if I'm channel surfing for something to watch and I see one of these listed I'll stop right there. I may ignore most of the movie while I'm reading or doing this for example but the moment one of my favorite scenes comes on I'll stop and watch. And since the movie channels tend to show the same movies over and over again for a couple months that leads to a lot of repeat viewings.
