Discussion - Extra Life (Thank you COH Community!)

First, That is awesome!! I've participated in many charitable events and it's true that every bit helps. I wasn't able to participate in this event, but I am looking into making a donation. Children's Miracle Network is on my short list of charities that I support.
At the end of the day Paragon raised over $7,000 (I said if we got over $5k I'd shave my beard, which I promptly did), and all of Extra Life raised over $1.1 million dollars!

Second, Pics or the shave didn't happen.

We Will Remember This One Moment In Time! ~ Shadow Ravenwolf
Just to ask, have your kids ever seen you without a beard? If not, you might want to make sure they are there when you shave
(I remember a friend who's dad did that... the dad said his kid was all 'put it back! Put it back!')

Negaduck: I see you found the crumb. I knew you'd never notice the huge flag.
Before.
After.
If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.
Black Pebble is my new hero.
I was happy to be able to make the contribution that pushed it over 6k, and then watch it skyrocket as more and more people donated. Plus you guys were entertaining as all get out. Rock Band legends indeed.
Don't count your weasels before they pop dink!

I put a variation of this up on my blog, but I wanted to share it with all of you:
Charity is a weird thing. Organizations and hospitals depend on charitable donations to operate and do what they do, and meanwhile most of us just go on with our lives and assume someone "else" is doing it. A rich philanthropist must be keeping these organizations running, right? Well, this past weekend Paragon Studios participated in something that proved that everyone can make a difference, we all just need to be prompted. The Extra Life marathon on Saturday challenged gamers to play games for 24 hours, while asking for sponsorships. Gamers could organize into teams and choose which children's hospital in the Children's Miracle Network received their donations.
This past weekend Paragon Studios put together a team and spent the day playing City of Heroes, D&D, League of Legends, Rock Band and Starcraft II among other games, all in the name of charity. At the end of the day Paragon raised over $7,000 (I said if we got over $5k I'd shave my beard, which I promptly did), and all of Extra Life raised over $1.1 million dollars! This was not simply a rich philanthropist but thousands and thousands of gamers and ordinary folk simply chipping in what they could. $5, $25, $100, $200, it all adds up people. You CAN make a difference in this world, my only wish is that we didn't need to do "events" to call attention to these things.
If this message strikes a chord with you, then I am here to inform you that it's not too late to donate. Visit the Paragon Team page here, select a team member and then hit the "Support me" button and make a contribution. 100% of the funds raised go to the hospitals chosen by the teams, in our case, the Children's Hospital & Research Center of Oakland.
If you were one of the many players who donated prior to or during the event, Paragon Studios thanks you for your donation, and we commend our community for their generosity. Charity is a powerful tool, we just need to remember how to use it sometimes and you guys did an awesome job of that.
