Castle,
Thank you.
This game wouldn't have made it this long without you!
Farewell Hero.
/em Bows -
Take Flurry from Speed pool
Jump Kick from Super Leap pool
Air Superiority from Fly pool.
Profit.
That is if you can actually find anyone to PvP with. -
My entire office is in tears thanks to that!
"Whyyyy?!? Oh it hurts..."
Perfect. -
I dropped SB on my Kin/Rad Defender at level 34, made that toon actually enjoyable to play! I don't miss it at all and like Michelle stated, what I can leverage with Fulcrum/Trans et al is usually more than enough for any team. When I team that is.

That final hour conversation would be rather boring I'd think.
You'd have one person who lived the events, learned the knowledge 1st hand and long ago grew tired of the cyclical pattern that emerges in life.
Talking to the other who just instantly downloaded the entire Akashic record of time in one nanosecond. They'd have the knowledge, but would lack the 1st hand experience. So they might be more willing to debate and dissect things the other had long ago mastered.
This is like a nifty way of asking what's better, book smarts or street smarts. I always go with street smarts in those questions, unless we're talking about something like quantum mechanics. Then I think having the book smarts might outweigh any 1st hand knowledge.
Personally, I'd choose to go back. Maybe not to the dawn of time, lord knows I wouldn't want to spend hundreds of millions of years without any humans around. But maybe to the dawn of civilization. It would be really cool to get to trace the origins of cultures and ethnic groups. Though the temptation to alter the timeline might prove overwhelming at times.
Then there is the whole immortality depression to deal with. But that would be the price you pay for gaining the knowledge 1st hand.
It's that or only have the answers for an hour before you die.
I've recently started to create a timeline notebook just for my own personal knowledge. I printed out 100 blank maps of the world and have started mapping out the 1st tribes and their migrations, leading to the 1st cities etc etc.
It's been an interesting hobby as of late, which is why your question appealled to me.
What was your choice Durakken? -
I found myself asking a simple question after my last post.
What's the harm in trying? Oh yeah, there isn't any.
So yeah, lets get some promotional material ready to go.
I'm thinking maybe a mass leaflet dropping over major metropolitan areas with pleas for help from the invasion of Cole.
I don't have a plane at the moment though...
Maybe I'll just stick to touting the virtues of COX over whatever other game my friends are playing. I still have hope that one day I'll be able to convince a (gasp) girl to try it too. I've heard girl gamers exist... somewhere. -
I'll say again. I applaud the effort, I just don't see it gaining us more than 1 or 2 new players in total.
In my area alone (Alabama) I could plaster the place with posters and free trial deals and even stand outside Wal-Mart during peak Christmas time with a bullhorn warning folks of the Praetorian invasion.
I even go so far as to pull up Ftp.coh and play the Atlas theme and a few other choice selections whenever a guest is sitting in the lobby. My hope is one day someone will recognize it and we can strike up a conversation about it. As it stands, I think I'm the only COX subscriber in the entire Birmingham metro area... how sad is that?
Thing is, even if one of those people saw the poster they'd still be out of luck. Of the 3 Gamestops in my area not a single one has a copy of this game, not even GR. Best buy is the only place in town still carrying it and the manager there said if he sells the last 2 copies they won't be re-ordering...
I'm not saying the game is in trouble, far from it. I can see your fear about the Korean Won becoming more valued to the investors but with a sustanable base like we have, even a selling of the IP would come with a few more years of support.
I'd love to see an influx of 100,000 or more new blood, I just don't see it happening with whats looming on the horizen. Maybe if one of the big dogs was to fold, but even then I think we'd only pick up 10,000 or so.
Fact is, this is a niche title. Not all gamers like superheroes. -
My initial reaction was "Whoa sweet!"
Then I realized it wouldn't be all that useful to me here in the states.
Now if they could make an app that allows my Spanish speaking guests to talk in their language, while my phone instantly translates to text I can read or a voice in my bluetooth I'll be stoked! -
Here is the part I don't get.
Wouldn't we all be doing that to begin with? From the moment we realized this was the game for us?
I just can't see anyone standing in Atlas on their Blaster and thinking. "Man, I hope Jim doesn't find out about this game! I'd hate if my real friends were on here."
I think, by default, anyone playing and posting would have already exhausted their resources for gaining new subscriptions. Heck NC even rewards you for doing so. I've personally begged and pleaded with numerous friends just to give it a chance. These are the ones who refuse to pay to play. I've managed to talk one into playing, but he grew tired of it after only a few months. Came back a year and half later and stayed a few days. Just wasn't for him.
Truth of the matter is. At this point there isn't some huge pool of potential subscribers who just don't know about the game. Thinking that we just need to 'Spread the word' as it were just won't work. Lets face it, if you like superheroes and MMOs you know about COX and have probably tried it. Those that fell in love stayed, the others went looking for greener fields.
Now, whenever I hear about a friend or even a friend of a friend that has burned out on whatever MMO they play I always talk up this one. Most often I get the response that they tried and just couldn't get into it for various reasons. I'll go into detail about all the changes but more often than not, it's the core engine that they disliked so...
I applaud your efforts to secure the longterm future, I just don't see it working. Then again, I can't see any advertising working either, even TV ads, simply for the reasons stated above. After 6 years we have a recognized brand already. -
I don't even watch the show but the few times I tried she always had the best lines. My GF on the other hand is now married to the show and would probably die if any of them left. -
I never really saw the appeal of Fire/Kins myself.
I haven't found any new FOTM type builds running rampant since Issue 19. I'm sure it's just a matter of time before someone finds some combo that was previously mediocre but now shines, but right now the shiny new shards are so attractive. -
No problem with being modded. If I break the rules it's to be expected.
What I have a problem with is unique and thought provoking threads vanishing without justifiable cause. I'm dismayed at the direction things are going is all. Since the rules change was supposed to lesson the amount of Mod work, yet has increased it significantly.
Go figure. -
I'd reply but...
The heavy handed, unresponsive and poorly thought out choices of those in charge lately have me seriously looking for more welcoming pastures.
Lets just hope nobody mentions the forbidden in this one... -
I laughed.
Then again I'm a person and not the forums. -
Way to beat up on the new guy Chad...
He's been here for all of a possible 6 days, how was he supposed to know these 'suggestions' have been discussed time and again?
Yeah, spelling mistakes irk me too. English is such a funny language, we have words that sound the same but are spelled in various ways. We have words that sound nothing like each other, but are spelled the same.
It's called slack, here's a knife so you can cut him some.
In response to the OP. Give it time. This forum isn't as active as it usually is due to the new issue just launching. So most posters are busy in game.
That and the Suggestions sub-forum is highly regarded as flame central.
You'll get half the posters thinking they have a great original idea, while the other half actually have copypasta novels pertaining to why it's a dead horse. Years back the suggestions section was moved down to the 'for fun' category so...
That said. Welcome to the Cities Alpha Dog! Be sure to check out
Paragonwiki.com for useful info.
Cohplanner.com will give you a great program to download that lets you plan out builds.

1st off. Welcome to the City!
2nd off. Paragonwiki.com will be your friend
3rd off. Mid's Hero builder is a very useful program
That's enough off's for one post.
As far as 'sloppy' servers go, I'd imagine it would be the most populated by default. Sure you'll have a great deal of Min/Max types, but you'll also have a greater selection of button mashers.
Virtue does tend to take itself a bit seriously at times.
Infinity is middle ground, not overly populated, not sparse.
One of the great things about this game though, you are actually encouraged to roll as many alts as possible. I'd advise you to roll up a toon on a few servers. That way you can find your home server by personal feel rather than outsider opinion!
Also, check your PM's -

We used to have a mouse over info box for enhancements.
That broke years ago and seems to be unfixable though. -
Since you mentioned looking specifically for AE arcs with AV's I too have had trouble finding any reliable way to determine if an AE arc has AV's or EB's.
I really wish one of the search options was for Archvillain/Hero.
I've made a few crucible type AV runs for my Scrappers but none of them are currently published. -
I really should start paying closer attention to changes.
I'm so used to my standard 3 slots on Fly that in all the respecs I've done this week... I included the 3 slots by default.
Now I come here and find out I wasted 2 slots and should vetspec them all over. At least I still have the respec sheets handy.
That's what I get for still being so old school I don't pay attention to #'s in game. -
Haven't had any issues with her not being conned an enemy. The few times I've run it though she does always end up floating about 4 feet off the ground once I've beaten her. Then she just stands there in the air like a statue.

Pretty much what Flarstux said. Level 50 for me is retirement. As it stands, I've been playing for this long and still have only 2, and they are both blasters.
Altitis combined with a 'full' career behind them means it's just time to move on. I have never slotted a purple and probably never will. Heck one of my 50's doesn't even have any enhancements as I striped him clean in order to re-build him with IO's and just never got around to it...
I'm mainly a solo player these days, as my time is erratic and my computer takes 5 to 10 minutes to load any time I zone, so I don't like making others wait.
And to be entirely honest. I feel the Incarnate system is interesting in concept but needs to be reimagined as something else entirely.
Like some form of Super supergroup. Maybe even call it Freedom Phalanx members instead of reserve.
My point is. To me an Incarnate is someone with so much power, they don't need others. To have a system that means you have to surround yourself with other demi-gods just to enjoy your own power levels just doesn't sit right with me. I wouldn't mind having a few TFs and such in the game that require teaming with other incarnates, Universal threats such as Rullaruu and etc. But making it such an enormous time sink, if you don't have the ability or willingness to team constantly means I won't be an incarnate any time soon.
But I'm okay with that. -
You know it might, I never really noticed as the respec screen pops up so quick. Oh well, it's more so anyone passing by knows I'm blind.
