Wow, that's a loaded question at the moment... Indeed we have an endgame. Multiple threads exist though so I'm sure you'll see the info.
If you've never played a controller before I might suggest something other than Electric. Electric Control is a beast of a set but does take some finese to use properly. I've found having a background knowledge of what controllers are expected to do and not do helps when playing Electric. With the sleeps being a tad more tricky to use than your standard AoE holds. Still EC is a wonderful set so...
In my mind, Earth and Fire are the perfect introductory sets. Nice strong holds mixed with utility lets you learn the ropes without too much failure, i.e. AoE immobs before the tank has aggro, holding minions instead of Lts etc etc.
I personally haven't played Corr past level 12 so I won't comment there.
Kinetic is best on Stalkers. All my stalkers are strictly shadow assasins that prefer to work alone so I can't testify to team performance. As for the set itself. Make sure you get and incorporate Siphon asayc. The set lends itself to a king fu/ elemental/ wind master concept to me. I will say by level 32 I was pretty tired of the sound effects though and subsequently stopped playing him shortly after.
That said. Welcome back!! -
Quote:Allow me;The I don't want to team to earn my stuff is probably at best a joke to me, a bad one at that, you're playing an a massive multiplayer online game. I won't break out the dictionary to tell you what multiplayer means. You want the devs to cater to people who refuse to team on a multiplayer game? In almost any other community you'd be laughed out and told to qq.
In short, you're being unreasonable, demanding and childish. Hope to see you in game.
MMO defined
and here
Multiplayer
Now show me the part of the definition that says you are forced to team in order to be playing an MMO. Oh wait, you can't because it's a fallacy.
The term Multiplayer simply refers to the environment we share. It's a multi-player environment. At no point should this be inferred to mean players playing together at all times. If that was the case then you wouldn't have PvP unless it was all squad based. It's fine for you to feel the way you do, just don't try to justify that stance with such a laughable statement as MMO = Teaming. -
Quote:First time I rolled up a Warshade at level 6 I instinctively reached for the Fly pool for Hover. I find it really annoying to use TP without having hover. Really, really annoying dropping out of the sky like a limp rag cause my pc lags or my reflexes seize or my attention falters for a split second... (tiny rant)I can see where it would just be a "dumb decision" with PBs grabbing flight, but Warshades grabbing flight or teleport pools on the other hand could have a slightly more profound effect. Especially with the latter case. think about it: teleport spammed to new levels, recall foe spam...
Actually, it would be pretty damn kickass. where can I sign for this?
So imagine my disdain when I found I was unable to pick the pool. For the life of me I couldn't imagine why it was made that way. Yeah I could accidently double up on travel powers but...
I'd gotten so excited to play a MFing warshade but was so dissappointed by this. I still hadn't figured out why it was like this. Until the post above reminded me that PvP still exists and as such has to be balanced around. Bah... -
Quote:*Snipped for brevity.
That's just the game's pattern, and though I want a progression option that does not require me to wait for a full league (or anyone for that matter) to start up, to want an equal time scale is unreasonable based on the rest of the game.
Not only would it be unreasonable, it would be boring as well. I'd actually prefer if it took a bit longer to fully kit out than running leagues. It would give me something to push for, to strive for. Without the added hassle of hurry up and wait syndrome and mass of confusion that is the iTrials.
Something I can knock away chunks at on my own time. At my leisure (since that's what I'm looking for when I log in, leisure time activity.)
So I know that even if I only have 20 to 30 minutes I can play, that I can still log in, knock out a few missions and accomplish 'something'. Even if that something is only a fraction of what a 30 minute trial could earn me. The A-Merits have this effect on me. I wouldn't bother to even log in, since I don't have much time but... but I only need to fill 2 more bubbles to get another morality mission.
A middle ground is needed. Drastically improved over the year+ solo path we currently have while still being slow enough to encourage constant iTrials being run. Honestly, after 7 years I have a great deal of faith that our Dev's can pull it off! -
I fail to see the purpose in you calling anyone out Pacur. Why be that antagonizing? Besides that. I SPECIFICALLY recall him stating that the iTrials are trivial... Which of us is right and does it really add anything to the conversation?
If I wanted to engage in forum PvP I'd say prove it, link to his complaining about it being too hard. But I'd prefer if everyone could avoid this sort of pointless one upmanship... -
No detailed information yet. Just a teaser pic of one of the auras.
I plan on remaking my Bots/Storm into a Bots/Time though!! -
Quote:My problem with all of the Incarnate stuff is it will continue to leave people playing their level 50s which in turn makes it hard for characters not level 50 to get onto teams. It's bad enough now and will only get worse as more trials are added. The more trials get added, the more desire I have just to get PLed to 50 and go where the people are at.
This at least shouldn't be an issue once Freedom is live. For one all the new blood will be starting at level 1 and needing teams. Add to that the Freebers can't even participate in Incarnate content without subbing and it should provide plenty of players running arcs and whatnot.
*crosses fingers* -
Quote:Actually, your post is one of the problems. Not to single you out or anything cause you seem like a reasonable chap but seriously...There's the problem right there....too many of us are treating it like work. "I HAVE to have my T4 Lore Power TODAY! I HAVE to unlock every costume part available THIS WEEKEND! Daddy I want an Oompahloompah NOW!"
WE are the ones creating part of this problem people. If it weren't for the fact that so many of us tear down the content road like speed-freaks the Devs MIGHT have dialed down the requirements for everything. Personally I'd have no problem with a costume set costing me a weekend's play. If I really want it, I'll do the content. But in part because of the few players chewing up 8 Trials a day the Devs have to raise the requirements on everything. Shards and Threads and Merits are the same way IMHO.
I know the horse is out of the barn and there's no way to go back. But maybe, just maybe, if we SLOW DOWN and enjoy the content once in a while the Devs will be able to worry more about WHAT rewards we're getting and not HOW FAST we get them. To me the former is the more important.
What we have going on here is a very serious case of Glossing over posts, picking them apart for ammunition and posters putting cliched words into others mouths and I'm forced to point it out.
NOBODY I'll repeat. NOBODY has been asking for quicker rewards. This is a classic case of reverse talk. A few of the more vocal iTrial fans make it a point to allude to this in every post they make but it's only a strawman they are using.
Point me to a single post that has someone clamoring for quicker rewards/rewards for less work. I'll wait...
When you search this topic and read the threads (with an open mind instead of coming in from a single PoV) you start to see the pattern.
What players are clamoring for.
What all this hubbub is over;
The locking of non-incarnate items behind the system.
The lack of a solo option that doesn't take literal years.
The fact that our choices just became really limited for progression.
To a lesser degree, the over abundance of Praetorian lore.
Nobody is asking to be T4 in 3 days.
Nobody is asking for the Incarnate armor to be given to us without doing the Incarnate content.
So everyone needs to start actually paying attention and stop glossing over any post that merely appears to be on the 'wrong' side of the fence. If we did there'd be alot less forum PvPing come next week. -
This happened to me on my throw away alt I made for the Freedom invasion event back on the 27th.
Half way through the night my screen flashed white with the amount of powers being thrown. Next thing I knew I had nothing in my trays. All my powers were greyed out as well and unclickable.
I was still flying though as I had been when it glitched. I have fly bound to my mouse button and clicking it did nothing. I was stuck flying.
I zoned to Atlas but it didn't revert. So then I just proceeded to fly around zones watching the mayhem and trying frantically to spot a Dev.
I haven't logged back in since then though so I can't say if it fixed after logging. Was one of the more... Unusual bugs I've experienced. -
Quote:I'm going to talk about my most Incarnate-powered character, Rushmore.
Rushmore is a Stone/Stone/Earth Tanker. He started off heroing at the age of 16, where on a visit to Mount Rushmore, he came across a mysterious crystal in a box. Picking it up, the Spirit of America gave him the power to fight the villains, crime and disasters that faced her citizens.
After fighting crime in his home state of South Dakota for 2 years, he came to Paragon City in 2007 at the request of a hero to join a training initiative. Over time, his powers have increased, as shown by his progression up in levels.
At level 22 when I upgraded him to SO's, his basic outfit changed to gain a cape, granted to him by the Spirit of America for good deeds and progress. At level 30, when he go Fly (The Iconic power of heroes, IMO) he gained a glowing aura, and his costume gained the addition of armour (Using the GVE Justice Pieces) and his height shot up a bit more.
At level 41, his costume was tweaked a little more. He was given some mastery over American soil, allowing him to summon up pillars and cages of earth, turn the ground to sodden mud to slow his foes, and call up shards of stone to get the attention of others.
And then he hit 50. No longer was America just going to be facing problems in the country. So she granted him the status of 'Ambassador'. Before hand, if he went into Mexico or Canada, his powers would fade and he'd resume being the young man that he is. Now, he can not only go to other countries and still keep his ties to America's power, but he can go to other dimensions also. He fights fitter, takes blows better, and stands as a pinnacle of the virtues of America he believes in. (Rare Cardiac Alpha)
But he's progressing. Growing stronger. And America is granting him the abilities befitting someone of his devotion, conviction and resolute nature (And his love for his county. Jamie Matthews is proud of who he is and where he's from, and hopes to go into politics to further help his home state and his land. He (as Rushmore) also love to go to the various memorial days, see the landmarks of America, and actually gets power or just gifts for doing so.)
His visit to Memorial Day parades granted him a Civil-war style jacket and cloak, something more formal to wear. (The Victorian Jacket with the arcane cloak, will have to grab a screenshot.)
His visit to Yellowstone National Park ended up with his powers gaining the ability to ignite his foes with righteous fire, burning away their will to fight (Reactive -Res, Fire DoT).
When the Praetorians invaded, he was given access to the lightning that strikes America's highest buildings, to show the invading forces just what they were facing. (Ion Judgement)
In times of strife and war, people will get hurt, and morale will decline. With Call to Justice, Rushmore can rally the spirits of people to take the fight back to the enemy. With his Rebirth Destiny power, he can heal those around them and let the residual power continue to aid them for a time.
And soon? Soon Rushmore will be getting married. And America will gift him with spirits representing Truth and Justice, to look out for him in the field of battle and ensure he can always come home to his wife. (Lore Phantom pets.)
What will the future hold for Rushmore? Well, it depends on what challenges he will face. Even now, he still trains hard and works to increase his baseline abilities (using the IO system) and he's setting his mind to spend the next decade or two working up to election for Senator for South Dakota, all while being a good husband and inspiring hero.
What powers he gains next from his beloved America? Well, that remains to be seen from what the Incarnate System presents us with.
/Faints from the sheer awesomeness! -
For all intensive purposes, my very 1st creation and namesake has always been an Incarnate.
The name Maestro has no connection to music, rather it stands for Master without trying to sound condescending. In short. He is a human that was able to utilize 100% of his mind and subsequently force his own evolution to a higher state. Upon doing so he was raised to another level of reality or higher consciousness. He then decided to return to our realm to save as many souls from The Coming Storm as possible through enlightenment.
Since he is by default a Master of our reality he can technically break the world. He can alter reality anyway he see's fit. However, his morality prevents him from abusing this power. Instead the most 'bending' he does is in the form of materializing costumes or music or various other small time tricks.
He is represented in game as an Energy/Energy blaster. I've never really bothered to RP with him that seriously though. His blasts are simply his power of choice, since he can use any power he wants this is what works best. Allowing him to knockout opponents without serious harm, he can't die so instead TP's to hosp to regroup etc. etc.
So, when I 1st heard about Incarnates I figured he'd be a natural to take down that path. Then I realized, he already was one. In essence his character could use the Judgement powers if he truly wanted without ever touching the well since he is beyond this reality. Mavius has never had a reason to use more power than his blasts or fists and I see no reason to change that now.
An Incarnate to me has more to do with the story than the power. True when you think of a demigod you picture immense levels of power but it could just as easily be someone with immense levels of intellect etc. The reason they have that power is more important. Born that way, trained, enraged, touched by a mystic power. This is more important than being able to punch the Earth into pieces as I feel non Incarnates can reach that level of power. Superman for instance. I don't classify him as an Incarnate. -
When I first learned of your tourney all those months ago it made me cringe...
Reading how much fun you get from it makes me smile!
Still, I'm really really hoping you can reach 50th level this time around! IF that happens be sure to announce it here before hand so we can throw you a party. -
Forget that. What on Earth is with her face???

Quote:Thanks for proving my point by conveniently missing the point. I equated the whole game to the iTrials as an extreme example. I never said I was being forced to do anything. I said if players want the new stuff then they have no choice, I suppose that's false as there is a choice. Grind or forget it exists. That's a great choice. What developer is forcing you to run incarnate trials? Did they remove every other costume piece, aura, that everyone has gotten by on for the previous 7 years before them? Are any of them necessary to play the game? Can you not still play the rest of the game solo just the same as always? Do you need incarnate powers?
Nothing is forcing you to run the trials except for you telling yourself that you NEED these new rewards right now that aren't necessary, especially if you aren't running incarnate trials.
But your right, the rest of the game is still there. The rest of the game we've seen for years, the rest of the costume pieces we've used for years. Now it starts to look like EVERY new thing to come out will be locked behind a system some just don't like. I've been making alts for 7 years. It's starting to get hard to come up with yet another concept for the same pieces. New stuff lends to new concepts which lends to more years playing.
If you'd bothered to read my post instead of picking it apart for ammo you'd have seen that I'm fine with not being Incarnate. I'm fine with things being locked behind the system if they relate to the lore. However I'm not dense enough to expect everyone to be just because nothing has been removed. That's just a lazy excuse that overlooks the true issue. I've said my piece though, take it or not. *Shrugs* -
I'm afraid it's not that cut and dry Tony...
To wit:
You love playing COH, doesn't matter what your doing you just love playing. Then one day the Dev's release a new issue that forces you to hear Hansen's MmmBop NONSTOP while you play. You can't mute it either, if the sound isn't coming through your speakers the game shuts off.
Now how many weeks would you continue to enjoy playing? How many days of that could you take? Probably not much. Very quickly the game would go from being enjoyable to 'why bother torturing myself'
Now this is an extreme example to be sure but it takes extremes to get the point across sometimes.
For some players, iTrials represent a seachange in the direction of this game. For some players the fact that they now have no choice but farm the hell out of a handful of trials is as annoying as my example. Literally.
Just saying 'Suck it up' because you have to do Y to get X is a disservice at best. While true in concept it slyly dodges the real issue at hand. Should we remain loyal or cut our losses?
That's the main question bringing us these threads daily.
I'm saying all this from the perspective of someone who doesn't play 50's and could care less about Endgame. Never have, never will. However, I keep playing because of Alts. It was really easy for me to decide not to bother with the iTrials once I realized the only place I'd really need those abilities is on more trials. However, they then decided to start locking interesting new tech (path auras) behind this system in an effort to get more players grinding.
This is having the opposite effect though. As the ones that are okay running trials would have kept doing them without the added perks while the players those perks where designed for feel slighted.
It doesn't matter if it's right to feel that way. All that matters is that paying customers are feeling punished.
This issue isn't going to go away before Freedom hits. IF we do get an influx of new players then perhaps it will become muted for a few months. Eventually though we'll have a second round of these threads when all the new blood gets to 50.
So you saying "Deal with it" expecting that to be the magic answer is akin to forcing you to listen to Spice girls at full volume while playing, sure you can deal with it, but how long will you?
This isn't about entitlement or wanting stuff for free. In the end it boils down to fun. If players aren't having fun they'll come here to find out if they can ever expect to start having fun again. If the only answers they get from us boil down to 'Suck it up' or 'You don't have to be an Incarnate' they won't become ViP's.
Which in the end is what we all want. So to that end I say this. Players are going to continue to bring this up. Cluttering up the threads with pointing out how stupid they are only serves to keep the subject fresh.
From now on if you (plural for anyone bothered by this topic) see one of these types of posts, move on. Don't bother to make your case. Because it's all been said before by both sides. Let the thread die quickly. They'll get a handful of posters agreeing with them and then it will vanish from the front page since it's not a constant back and forth PvP match. -
Really? Were you not here for the oh so serious Carp Armor requests?
-
I know what would happen. The force of the fist penetrating the air at such velocity would tear open a rip in the fabric of reality. The resulting punch would then land on the poor Hellion with unpredictable results (chaos theory) It's possible the poor thing would just vanish in a spray of pixels... It's just as likely however that the Hellion would be unharmed and find itself flung into our reality!
-
The longer we can prevent our game from turning into yet another 'Race to the cap' type MMO the better.
Now, I'm all for them adding PP or something just as enticing to some of the content ingame that gets ignored. Perhaps 100 PP when you take down a GM. On a month long timer per account, to prevent farming PP.
This way GM teams would become common again. Or something similar for long abandoned TF's and things like Terra Volta etc. etc.
Maybe a small PP reward for gaining the particularly timesink badges ala Overseers and the like. -
Quote:This shocks you? It's VoodooGirl, she's the most cheerful antagonist we've got.You know what? I liked these buttons. I was going to use one as my avatar.
Then I kept reading the thread and saw how VoodooGirl acted.Love the buttons by the way! Great idea VG.

Has an early days of FreddieW feel to them. That's a plus by the way!
If your going for realism the only thing I'd look at would be the energy effects. They seem a bit to... crayola colored. Otherwise Bravo! Looking forward to more tryouts. -
Zwill, I say this with utmost sincerity. Ask some longtime PS employees what the significance of this statement is if you need clarification...
You have just surpassed CuppaJo as my all-time favorite Communtiy rep!!! -
One thing I suggest is something that's long been 'off the table' from the Dev's point of view. Seeing as F2P was off the table at that time I feel it's appropriate to reintroduce the prospect.
NPC costume parts!
The helmet from Carnival of Shadows Strongmen? 150 PP please!
Always wanted the Councils jacket? 150 PP please!
Now you too can look like a Goldbricker, only 400 PP for the whole set minus working jetpack.
Excluding the signature NPC pieces and items with major clipping issues such as dresses of course. -
Wow! That Rocks
Must've made your forum viewing afterwards... interesting to say the least. -
Hehe...
I've been playing for 7 years and have bought a total of 3 Lotg. 2 of them with A-merits. I've been in possesion of (1) one purple and that netted me my largest payday at close to 200 million! Can't recall what it was...
I also only have 3 50's and severe altitis with little interest in endgame but there ya go. -
I do feel like this is one of the largest untapped markets going into Freedom. The overwhelming majority of those that left over PvP did so because it became overly complex and just plain boring.
I expect more than a few of the new players we attract will be highly interested in PvP and having little to no knowledge of the bemoaned system we have, will be quite turned off upon trying it. Thus being less likely to become a ViP.
However, from the sounds of the PvP bootcamp participation. It'll probably be more of a 'just adapt' strategy with the current system never changing, only our opinion of it once PvP starts hopping again with players that never knew how it was 'before'.
