I've played all three. You can't go wrong. But, if you can only try one, or if you are trying 1 first, go with the rad. AM is a difference maker at low to mid levels for an AT that has debuff toggles. At higher levels, AM is even better.

Quote:In my experience, Kin Defs lack defense as a power combo, so their solo-ability suffers. I'm sure you'll have dozens of forumites telling you how they solo with Kin Defs at +7/x40 and don't miss a beat, but I'm skeptical. They are awesome on teams. And they can be effective solo, but it seems, to my experience, to require more patience than most defs do.Okay, thanks for the help. I ended up going with siphon power in place of superspeed I think. Other than that I followed the basic formula for what you gave me. If my kinetic travel powers is ever inefficient I can always just hop on my rocket board if I don't need my leadership and armor the instant I hop off of it.
However when I tried to go out and solo in order to get the hang of the basic controls and functions of this toon I had..quite a bit of trouble even on standard difficulty settings(+0x1nobossnoav). I realize that I'll obviously be my most powerful in groups but if anybody has advice that can help my ability to solo, it should also help my ability to help in smaller teams right?
Caveat: My lvl 50 Kin Def is a Kin/Sonic. My lvl 50 /energy def is a FFer. So, my opinions are based purely on extrapolation, not on having actually played that combo. My Kin/Energy's are totally non-existent. -
Sorta surprised that Neutrino Bolt isn't slotted better. Either with more procs (as I'd advise) or at least more damage, as it's super speed makes it very fun in my experience.

Quote:I generally grab Sands, Wand, and Nemi. If I'm going for a slayer/weapon theme, I'll take the axe.
I generally don't bother with all three.. 1, or even 2 are helpful until you have a decent chain, but three is mostly a waste of spots on the tray, in my opinion. Given that, and the temp powers limited value, get what ever you like. If you aren't melee focused, tho, get Neme and Wand first, then either power you hope to rarely use last...
If you are are a melee type, get whichever, as it is probably on your chain between a real power and Brawl.. -
Quote:Celerity: +Stealth is good to slot in Super Speed. Super Speed gives you +35% stealth on its own. Celerity: +Stealth on top of that gives you 65% stealth, making you invisible to NPCs. Generally not worth slotting in Sprint, imo, as it does not give you enough stealth on its own to make you invisible, only when combined with Super Speed.
I totally disagree, since you can always toggle both on at once, and are not usually trying to fight while stealthing, so end usage isn't a big deal. I like having stealth abilities individually selectable for end usage reasons during a fight, as sometimes just sprint (+plus the proc) is plenty, and cheaper on the end consumption that Super Speed (with or without the proc) would be.
But, it's really a minor difference, so if you slot it in either Super Speed, or Sprint, it's not a big deal. If you slotted a +Stealth proc in say, Recall Friend, then I'd consider burning a respec, but otherwise, not so much.
PS: I really can't believe how many people out there seem unaware of the fact that Super Speed and Sprint aren't mutually exclusive toggles.. Even if you have no Stealthiness to consider, toggling both on will let you go faster, assuming you aren't already at the speed cap. -
It's worth having in Sprint, especially if you have another +stealth effect to stack with them.
-
Or perhaps it's a Narwhal! A Shadow Narwhal! That allows you to cross water faster, and will gore Lusca with it's horn!
-
Well, you actually paid for Ninja Run, so that was the problem at the outset.. Everything else was just compounding.
-
Seriously, at the way early stages, your biggest problem is a lack of anything to round out an attack chain, and the ax helps as well here as any of the others.. Later, after you should have a chain, all of the temp powers are lacking, assuming you actually slot your real powers.
That said, the ax is weaker in my experience, than Sands or the dmg bonus ranged. It's not a lot different in the 3rd position as far as temp powers go, though.. -
Yes, but how often is a trial on that much of a knife-edge? Not usually, if ever, in my experience. If most folks are incarnated out, then victory is pretty likely, regardless of the percentage of folks with Reactive.

When MARTy was released (live), a number of CEBR folks intentionally tried
to trigger it ... and couldn't.
............(deleted some for brevity)........................
OTOH, I think your vague paranoia is out-of-place, and largely ill conceived as well.
Mind you, my opinion on any of that is worth zero, as is yours. We may have
our own ideas on where the devs draw their lines, but last I checked, neither
you or I wrote a single line of code for this game - they did. Consequently,
they can set any limits they want, and we are free to abide within them, or
go write our own mmo (or play someone elses)...
End of Story. End of Threadjack.

Dang FourSpeed, I think you're my new hero, for a moment or two at least.
I have to totally concur with all of the above.
I farm, maybe only 1/4 of my game time, give or take, but enough that I sympathize with the farmers on a lot of topics. But, the paranoia around it always seems severely misplaced to me.
Every so often a new farming method appears that's more than just a degree or 2 more efficient than all the rest. Sometimes, it's a "Exploit (TM)." But, a lot of times it is just a case of 'explot'ing some imbalance. Most of the farming rule changes I've seen, have not only been clearly predicted, as you've said, but only been executed in such a way to bring the newest outlier into line with all the other farming methods. If they wanted to end farming (for inf or XP) they could just drastically lower MARTy's threshold to be at about twice as efficient as the gamewide average. That would end even the oldest and most conventional farms, and end the DFB farm. It would also make MARTy useless for it's Dev reported purpose, which is catching "Exploits (TM)." And call me crazy, but the MARTy paranoia from the pro-farmers side (and the MARTy-worship from the rabid anti-farmers) I think is way off base. I tend to believe the Dev's stated purpose behind MARTy is exactly as reported (and if not, I think it's far more nefarious and insidious the anti-farming; maybe mind control, as it plants neural bots in your brain, making our brains their distributed network slaves).
Well, long story short (too late) I agree with ya, and find the paranoia a bit unfounded, and frankly, tiresome, at this point.
To the OP: I agree with 4Speed again. Valid question. No, I've neither seen nor heard any shred of evidence at all that you can be banned for this. I can imagine, as others have speculated, that in process of running/hyping such a farm, you might run afoul of other rules. Again, assuming you mean farm for inf, as opposed to farm for Real Life Currency. If you are trading farm for RLC, as others have said, that's gonna be a problem. -
Quote:Er, I'll address your second point first: I'm not looking at powers, I'm looking at builds. I'm not expecting a categorical breakdown of every power in the game, I'm not sure how anyone could. This is about: This is my build, these are the groups it can confront at 54/8. These are groups it cant. Obviously there will be gaps. Not everyone is going to bother to fight elder snakes.
And with regards to what's the rules are for waiting on barrier (or any destiny) plus judgement, and or inspiration use? It doesn't matter what you do as long as you're clear and honest about it. Be as clear as you can about what you did, and people can use that to assess your build's performance. There may need to be some clarifications from time to time, but a simple question might establish exactly what someone did when they say they used occasional purples, or if they had to wait for barrier to recharge for spawns with two dark ring mistrisses, or whatever.
My Claws/SR Scrapper has her lvl shift. Runs Alpha extra damage (muscul) and Interface for even more damage (reactive), Skipped everything else (mostly didn't fit, but maybe willing to see some of the new options).
And she will solo anything without a huge acc bonus. I can only think of DE with quartz's and Nemesis' with stacked Veng, but perhaps I recall a shadow shard critter that also had stupic acc. -
Quote:This is mostly my experience with a Claws/SR scrapper. She rolls vs carnies at any diff, occasionally needs an inspire, but mostly everything misses.. Focused Acc helps to offset tohit debuffs.. Conserve Power helps whenever the end hits get lucky and stack up a bit.. DE and Quartz are that alts banes, tho, and to a lesser degree Nemesis, is I kill indiscriminately, I can end up giving them a lot of stacked Veng, which isn't good. Otherwise, mostly everyting is easy, since most all debuffs are irrelevant, but a bad patch of luck can always faceplant ya at +4 with a defense on;y build.True. The best build I have vs Carnies is my soft capped BS/Shield scrapper; thanks to the high def the death drain almost never hits, likewise with the various debuffs. I do have to be careful vs MI's and Dark Ring Mistresses since they have attacks that ignore positional def but I can solo 4x8 Carnie missions. It helps that most of them are weak to Lethal damage.
The biggest PITA mobs for that scrapper are Knives of Artemis thanks to those damned caltrops.... I'm coming to kill you... eventually... The mobs I fear with that character however are the Devouring Earth Guardians and those Quartz pets they drop... if I let them drop that thing I'm very likely to be eating dirt a few seconds later.
Like CMAwesome, Knives are a big PITA, but 'd not say the biggest, as SR has -speed resistance, and I slotted for more, and I slotted for a lot of +speed, so while I will always hate the caltrops, I certainly have other alts that dislike them more..
I guess my point is, every alt that can run at +4/x8 is going to have some mobs or missions that will make death really a lot more likely at that setting, and some that they just laugh at. And it will vary from AT/power-combo to AT/power-combo. I am somewhat skeptical that all the people that claim they run at this setting face everything at that setting. I'm sure some stick to radios, and pick and choose. Some stick to tips, and again pick and choose. Some rerun certain mishes/arcs.. Some stick to certain TFs.. Or certain AE stories. I doubt any alt can run at that setting on ANY mish at a fast clip. I'm sure we all hedge against some mish types, or, if we don't avoid them, at least slow to a crawl occasionally vs some things.. There may be a few uber well built alts that run at +4/x8 and can face literally anything, but they are a lot less frequent than the forums would have you believe.
As a caveat, I consider Incarnate powers a bonus. As in, I generally still consider accomplishments based on if it can be done with IOs. I will grant that Incarnate powers have sorta changed the playing field. Maybe with all t4s well selected it becomes much easier. Much, much easier. I know it gets less tough, but I'm not sure the task ever becomes trivial, even with Incarnates. -
Quote:Sure would be nice if KBing into walls of off ledges generated impact damage, or falling damage as a bonus. KB would probably be a bit more popular then. No, it's just the game mechanics are optimized (heavily so) around AoE. I personally love the Aesthetics of KB and wish the game made it a beneficial thing. But Eye Candy is pretty much all it is, outside of some who use if for mitigation while soloing (they're delusional when they argue that KB mitigation is needed on teams larger than two).
Might also help KBs popularity if AoE effects like damage patches and debuffs had a lingering effect on enemies after they left it, and thus if KB didn't immediately save them from whatever effect.
Just a couple of thoughts.
But, until that time, KB is a largely cosmetic benefit, and largely an efficacy detriment, so, I'd also be in favour of allowing one to self limit ones KB at Null the Gull, if such a thing were possible within coding limitations and without breaking something else and without requiring man-hours in the thousands. -

Quote:I like Firebase Zulu. South central area of the map one of the islands there has a large number of them, and they oftenhave multiple fakes in a single spawn.Hi folks,
I was wondering where would be the best location to kill 100 Fake Nemesis would be for the Unveiler Badge? This is the last badge I have to get before I receive the Freedom Phalanx Reserve Power.
Regards and TIA,
Kirk
The biggest advantage to firebase zulu is that you can pick up a couple of other badges as you go, as both Paragon Protectors and Overseers are plentiful here, too.
A second choice is PI. They can be found all over PIs main island, especially near the docks on the west end.
You might be better served for getting Fakes by turning you difficulty slider all the way up for Nemesis missions only, and running a lot of hero tips. -
Is it just me, or is the Villain colour set for the forums now also jacked up like the hero one? Anyone have any workarounds to make it more usable, since it seems a real fix for the forum interface is fairly unlikely.

" You must fill out the account and password fields to log in to your account!"
So, recently (last few hours), I'm getting the above error whenever I try to log in. Rest assured, I have made sure that all the fields are filled and correct. Anyone have a suggestion, or a similar experience? -
Quote:I personally don't find the pet purples worth it. I find a pet purple as a way to make a pile of Inf and nothing moreSo, I'm a Robotic/Time manipulation Mastermind and I've just noticed how cheap the pet purples are and I am looking at buying the set. And while I'm asking one question, I might ask a few more so...
1) Is it worth getting the MM Purple set?
2) Which pet should I slot it for?
3) Is it worth losing 1 slot in the protector bot for the 7.5% global recharge aswell as having one in far sight and manuvers.
4) For the other two bot sets, any enhancements you suggest?
5) I'm also going to incarnate and wondering which lore pet I should take. My main has a T4 Core Cim which does nice damage, but I'm wondering if any of them give nice debuffs which work well with an MM.
Thank you! ^^ -
Easy version, lots of pets, and -regen tools.
Tougher, -regen and a lot of dps (often leveraged with -res, too).
Both versions require decent anti damage tools. Most often 1 or more of these... Def, hover/kiting, and using pets to draw aggro, -
I'd love for Roman Armour sets to be available to purchase so it'd be available from the start. I have a few Roman alt ideas that I'd love to have in proper attire from lvl 1-50. It'd be even better if they attached a starting Cimerora zone next to the existing one, but I don't expect that to ever happen.

Quote:It doesn't need to be, and hasn't been, 'disincentivized.' It's just been put on even footing with non-AE farming. The incentive to farm in AE is now closer to the incentive to farm any other map.I don't see why AE farming needs to be nerfed or otherwise disincentivized. If players are having fun with it, why get in their way? They are paying to have fun with the game, and it's not interfering with anyone else's fun, right? Methinks the devs may have too much ego invested in "their" view of how the game should be played. They aren't the paying customers after all.
And for the record, I have no dog in this particular race. I don't participate in AE farms (not since learning what they are). But I do feel that in the absence of Level Pacts or some other sanctioned way to bypass the level grind for alts, farming mechanisms should be left alone or maybe even boosted rather than nerfed.
As to teh argument about fun, if it was fun because of the activity, it will still be fun. If it wasn't fun, but getting the rewards was the only motivation, then the idea by normalizing teh reward to even with other forms of farming is that the farmers won't feel the need to continue with an activity that is less fun just for the sake of the better reward scale. If you prefer to farm AE now that it's rewards are more closely even with the other forms of farming, by all means, enjoy yourself, and keep at it, but if you prefer to farm some of the Unai missions, and had stopped because AE farming is more lucrative, the hope is that now you'll go back to farming what you enjoy. Because if you're having more fun,and getting the rewards of farming as opposed to just getting rewards but not having as much fun, you'll stick with the game for longer.
So, I don't think it has anything to do with their ego, but their pocketbooks. And I can totally understand and respect a company wanting to make money, and help it's players have more fun. And, as a bonus to me, the longer they are around, the longer I have the choice to subscribe and play the game. -
Every change is a reduction on somethings capability relative to something else, so every change is a nerf by this nomenclature. Sure, oft times that's how it's used in practice, but that means it's a basically useless word, unless you really just mean change and want to freight some negative connotation in there.
I always thought it had a more precise meaning, and was over (and mis) used. But if it does just mean a change, I guess it isn't overused. -
Quote:TM is very good, so any set could work with it. For hard targets, Beam and Sonic are the best choices. For large spawns, Rad and Fire are the best choices. If you want to do both, I'd say Fire for sure, maybe Rad, and a an outside contender, just because of the different scaling, Ice.What do you recommend as a secondary for Time Manipulation?
I solo alot so a secondary that's capable of taking down hard targets like EB's (and maybe AV's if possible) is preferrable. I understand that both Beam Rifle and Sonic Blast are good for hard targets. Any others?
I don't have enough points for Beam Rifle yet; and, furthermore, I'm planning on making a Beam Rifle/? corruptor. (I want one toon with BR as primary and one toon with Time as primary).
Also, I've already got a Rad/Sonic Defender.
Now don't get me wrong, I'm not averse to pairing BR or Sonic with this toon, just trying to see if there are other options.
Is TM (like Rad) so good that ANY blast set could be usable against hard targets?
