It will not be gone. No zone ever really goes away. You can still theoretically have characters in Old Faultline or the Rikti Combat zone. Thing is, those zones no longer have any active connections, and any characters that log into them are subject to a zone wide power that instantly ports them to AP.

As others have said, they are revamping Mercy. All we know so far is the starting location has been moved to Mercy City, and Longbow took over Fort Darwin.

Quote:Kind of hard to buy into your point when our most recent Hero TF destroys a quarter of Skyway, then after the mission dumps you in a perfectly repaired neighborhood like nothing had happened.Thing is, that Other Game's tutorial takes place in the center of the city...which you see minutes later as a pristine and wholly undamaged area. Yeah, way to have a lasting impact.
In this game, however...Galaxy is GONE. There is no 'MIRACULOUS REBUILDING AND RECOVERY EFFORT MAKES GALAXY LIVABLE IN MINUTES!' ******** going on here.
Makes a nice joke and Take That from our devs. 'Unlike those Chumps over there, our tutorial has an impact on the game world."
To be fair, that's the ONLY thing I don't like about the new Sutter TF. It's got 4.9 stars from me, except for that one niggling little thing. -
I'll miss the peace and quiet. I started most of my blue side characters in GC just because I enjoyed the laid back change of pace before getting into the rest of the game.

Quote:If you're running into people who can make that kind of joke out of that kind of name, it's really not going to help changing it. They have the mentality of a teenage American boy, which can turn ANYTHING into a coarse sexual comment. The Interface Slot.
Sounds innocent enough...until a female character (or worse, a female player) starts discussing it. Doesn't help that it's a Physical Incarnate Slot.
Now, if you don't mind, I'm off to retrieve my mind from the Gutter before the Arachnoids get to it. -
Sorry. Nope. New character creation process, and new tutorial. Pick any basic AT, play the tutorial and choose a side. Old tired, outdated tutorials gone the way of the dodo.

Quote:Only mostly idle if that's the only alt you want to play and the only one you're interested in side switching.A few... mostly idle... days.
Yeah, not really impressed with that design choice.
5 today, 5 tomorrow and the morality mission, and you're in the gray area and allowed to go visit. Mission accomplished, you're out of the Isles.
Be glad they listened to feedback and didn't go with their original system. It would have taken longer. -
Quote:No. It's forcing him to give valid billing information because most payment methods aren't given to minors, and that's an easy age check. He can set up a payment method then cancel it before it's billed, and still have an active account for the duration of the free time.So wait, are you telling me that the game is forcing him to buy another month just to upgrade his account with the Going Rogue Collectors Edition?
Edit- you win this round TJ! -
A mirror image of Galaxy City pre disaster will be preserved in Ouroboros. All badges and plaques will be able to be obtained there. No badges or titles will be lost.
I think contacts will be moved, but no longer offer missions. Simply relocated for nostalgia's sake. Current missions still in people's queue may have to be dropped and most probably won't be continued.
People who log out in either zone will probably get the same treatment as characters logged out in Old Faultline, and the Rikti Combat Zone. In other words, auto ported to the steps in Atlas Park.
I suppose it's possible the SG beacon may transit people to the Ouroboros mirror, but I doubt it.
Since the addition of the /ai command, actual physical locations for arenas have become superfluous. But I wouldn't be surprised to see a new one in Atlas just because. -
Let's not stop there. I say fix them in all the ways they need to be fixed.
1) make a pass on all costume pieces and fix the cases where you get "levitating emblem"
2) fix all the emblems so they scale properly into larger versions (for Shields)
3) Update the list of available SG emblems.
4) last (and probably most important to me) fix the way a lot of edging and "white" space on emblems turns into see through holes in my chest when I'm under the effect of certain buffs, auras, and powers. -
Just to cover a couple quick points. How much RAM your graphics card has isn't as important as what kind of gpu it is, when it comes to Ultra Mode settings in this game.
And for a point of reference, my Win7 machine doesn't crash in CoH except in rare cases. The info you gave is limited, so I cant compare, but I'm pretty sure it's not an issue with 64 bit processors or Win7.
Here's a quick copypaste from Speccy for my machine:

Intel Core i7 920 @ 2.67GHz 56 °C

Quote:I dont agree with the way it was said, but the point remains that the link is a relevant answer.God forbid a person not obsessively read each and every single post a dev makes. That post was over a month ago, maybe the OP returned after that? I check the Dev Digest on a regular basis and even I missed that one, so maybe chill out a touch.
It's not a question of "letting" us. It's a question of adjusting the system and then doing the graphics work. With luck, the fact we can customize Incarnate powers is a step along the path and we will get what we want sooner than later. -
It took a little more work than Adeon described but I did it. I couldnt just create my Steam account buy the game then get the CD Key from the site. I had to download the Steam Client and get it there. Still, my old Trial is now shiny and upgraded, and will be Premium once Freedom hits. Good deal.

The number of color and costume piece options available in this game are several orders of magnitude more than what they deal with in making characters for that other game. I doubt they're even capable of making things to the level of complexity most of the costumes in this game would require.

Quote:This was uncalled for. I don't praise and worship the devs, I just have slightly higher expectations of the players in the game than you do. "Don't stand in the fire" mechanics are one of the most basic. They're boring and easy and always will be. Dealing with ambushes requires 2-3 people out of 16-24.sigh... I don't know why I even bother posting feedback anymore. All folks here wanna do is praise and worship the devs for everything. It's clear to me now that nothing the bosses use is unbalanced on these trials. You've convinced me, you really have!
In the end I'm not saying the mechanic is fair or unfair. I'm saying deciding it is or isn't when the community is still learning the best ways to deal with the raid is hasty and unnecessary. -
Quote:One of the biggest draws of this game is that your stats aren't tied to your appearance. So, Issue 20.5 Ascend came out, and I used ten Astral Merits and bought a random aura, the Magnetic Aura. Looks pretty cool. And it got me thinking, what if the customization of a costume actually benefited your character? My first thought of course was having Smashing, Lethal, and Energy resistance from having Magnetic as my current aura. I thought it would be interesting to add small buffs, maybe the same percentages as things from Secondary Mutation of the Mutant Pack, and just add those to the variety of different auras. Thing's like certain types of resistance or defense, or say, if you're costume is using the Glowing aura, its a PBAoE -tohit debuff? ie. its Blinding the enemies. Just an idea I thought up, let me know what you all think.
Guess what you just suggested. -
Quote:Don't try Rainbow + Beast Run then, you're in for disappointment. It kind of turns into a blobby purple streak. It's pretty and all, but what I really like about that travel aura is that it changes its size based on your character's profile (i.e., different fly poses)while flying, and I wish I could get other travel auras to follow behind and do the same, especially Electricity.
Electricity aura appears at your feet, or a few (ahem) feet below you, where your feet were, when you change to a flying pose. I don't like that. -
They have powers that pass for water powers on a limited basis, but when you get down to it they look like poo. It's not a matter of "just need to be ported over" because if they made those powers into something they expected people to play 1-50, it would be acclaimed to be the worst looking powerset ingame.
It's the same reason they didn't take any of the existing pistol attacks (or even dual pistol attacks) when they made the Dual Pistols set. If you're going to make a full powerset meant to showcase something, you do it right. -
Quote:That's the point. Other trials aren't a challenge now that the majority of people have the hang of them. Hamidon isn't a challenge now that people have the hang of it, even though originally it took a full zone almost 2 hours to beat it in Beta (after the final balance pass). The other trials still remain a challenge without an undodgeable death sentence power. No reason that this one trial needs one to be difficult. Keep the power but adjust it to a more reasonable level that isn't relying on you to always be at full health.
This "one trial" won't be difficult once people get the hang of it. People aren't asking you to complete a laundry list of things just to survive, they're asking you to wait until you and the people you play with have time to practice and get past the kinks.
In a game where midcombat battle rezzes and huge buffs centered on fallen teammates are the norm, one near instant death power isn't any more unfair than losing the ability to talk to other contacts during a TF. By which I mean, it's not at all unfair, it's simply a fact of life that can be dealt with like anything else. -
Quote:No, they've said what is now Energy Blast was their first attempt way back in the day 7 years ago. That doesn't mean they think it's an adequate stand-in today.1) Im fairly sure they also said that Energy Blast coloured blue is as good a stand in.
I've also never heard them say that making Water would make Ultra mode mandatory, but that could easily have been something I missed. I'm more likely to accept that they said to do Water the way they'd like to would require Ultra Mode levels of graphics, which isn't the same thing. -
By all means fix them. Make them not look waxy and artificial. Make them look like the person has 2 nostrils and not 1 black smudge. Make them look at least somewhat good on other face and head scalings other than defaults. We have sliders for a reason, and I'm getting tired of new costume pieces that almost never account for them.
PS: B_I it's pretty silly to say all histrionics aside then dive right back into breaking things out in all caps, or "begging" It's almost like you can't help but type that way, but it doesn't really make your point any better. -
In an encounter designed to be faced by 12-24 people, I'm of the opinion that one person by themselves should expect to be killed in 1 shot, without help from the other people around them. Sorry it's a bummer, but I'm not sure your expectations are reasonable in this case.
-
The tactics to beat it involve cohesive teamwork, just as it's designed to. When I've been on good KIR teams healers were on top of Disint targets before they had a chance to call out for an assist. Eventually even PuGs will get the hang of this.

I think the devs should add new versions of existing Safeguards and Mayhems that can be earned and run by Rogues and Vigilantes.
Create Outdoor maps for each of the RI zones.
Set up a Mayhem like Preemptive Strike mission for Vigilantes, where they go in cause some chaos, and stop a few key villainous plots aimed at Paragon (Arachnos plots, Family Drug factories, Council and Freakshow conversion labs, etc).
Set up a Safeguard like mission for Rogues, where they end up protecting people from truly evil villains, or even just reckless heroes. They can also have side missions where they make choices about going after loot, but it could cost them time from their overall goal.
Have these missions awarded in the normal fashion. HOWEVER, completing them (and regular Mayhems and Safeguards) should award appropriate Fame and Alignment points, possibly even count as a Morality mission.
This would allow Heroes and Villains to tag along and get new badges, but not without (minor) consequences. It would also add a new wrinkle to side switching, and give everyone justifiable chances to smash the bejeesus out of things (or protect them from smashing).
