you should be able to verify your account status there.
It is possible that you may have created a "new" account rather than using a pre-existing account.
It says my account is a trial even though i verified it before I ever got the trial invite. Its rather confusing. If i try "upgrading" the account with my CD key though it always asks for billing info and stops there. So I'm guessing I have to give them that before I can even use the free month?

For example. Log in to account, apply code and put in card information. Log into game. Cancel billing. Still get the free month, nothing else paid for.
If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

What happens if they don't have a way to give billing information? I mean, he already bought the Collectors Edition which did not specify that you needed to have a previous account to play. (At least not that I saw.)
Does that mean that he successfully wasted his money on something that he cannot use?

That's where you're confusing me a little on this matter. He has the Collectors Edition and the CD-Key it provides, but from what I understand he needs to have some sort of credit/debit card to input in order to use the Collectors Edition along with the free month that it gives.
Sorry, but this is just confusing to me. (I'm speaking on his behalf btw.)

Game time cards count as billing information, btw. It's a separate radio button to select in the process.

Tip for you - Steam will keep track of the CD Key for you, but if you do subscribe and pay after the free month is up :
If with a time card, save the card / card "number" - even if just in an email.
If with a credit/debit card - Last four digits of the sixteen digit card number (what shows on your receipts, etc) & type of card.
This info can greatly speed up any issues that arise if you lose control of your account somehow (not saying it will happen, but it can with any game).

Also, is there no way to add a payment option to your NCSoft account without actually buying anything?

Ok, if somebody mentioned this above I didn't see it and if they did then I guess I'm just emphasizing it.
Yes you have to put in some sort of payment method. Any bank credit/debit card will do. So will pre loaded credit cards you can purchase at various locations.
After you have put in the information and activated your account you can then cancel your account immediately.
Canceling your account at this point doesn't mean you can't play the game. It just means that you won't be charged or be able to play the game after your free month of play is up. If you don't cancel then you will be charged but only after your free month is up.

Well the GR "disk" is almost Issue 18 and we are now on Issue 20.5. A good chunk of the pigg files have changed since then.
