Did anyone else see the Rangle Plot supergroup with all those Rangles? INSANITY!
-
Electric is my favorite armor set, with invul as a close second. Pretty much all can be made damned sturdy though.
Anyone remember that massive thread about the most survivable build possible? I can't remember if it was an Elec or a Willpower build that came out on top -
Here is a build with high SL resistance, decently high EN defense, and respectable survival numbers all around. Ranged is 35.7%, which is within a small purple inspiration of being at soft cap. SL defense is just under the 32.5 mark and FC is just below that, so it does come close to soft cap with that purple, and with the high resistance it should be fine.
I have watched a similar build handle off tank duties with ease.
If you wanted to go more defensive, by all means trade out mu mastery for mace mastery and grab scorpion shield, but honestly I don't think you will need it.
(this build was made in a hurry from what I remembered of a similar build, please do NOT take the powers in the order defined in this build)

pfft, despite the creator's perspective, the build forum is never more appropriate than the archetype forums ;}
I think a well built rad sonic would be pretty mean. i will be back to check your builds out. are you going for a cheap build or an ideal build? -
Did Mako ever show? I got bored after an hour and a half of hen... erm...
...fighting mutant Luscas.
Was it a case of Mako not knowing how many heroes it was going to take to kick his butt, but knowing how many we were going to use? That is useful information for sea kittens to have ;} -

Resistance cap to SL is fine, and can get you a long way, but their defense debuff will get you to a point you are taking 95% of their attacks.
Also, you really have no choice to ignore or not ignore defense debuff resistance, as that is specific to your power set. You either have it, or you don't, or you had option for it and didn't take it.
Quote:Again, I'd strongly suggest ignoring defence and defence resistance, and instead looking to resistance for protection. In the endgame, Electric is particularly close to cap and can get there a couple of ways. Earlier? go for oranges.
EDIT: this is in the context of S/L and romans. There are obviously places where res only presents serious problems -
Never be bothered by being eaten by Cimerorans, they are rather brutal. There is a reason Cim Incarnate pets are so good at single target DPS. You either need a defense that hits well above soft cap, or you need high defense debuff resistance.
-
I don't know about best, but I will second Dark Miasma as my favorite buff/debuff set. I have had Fluffy (my dark servant) lock down mobs by himself, including Cimerorans

I like mine, but I don't have her to 50 yet (gotta love alt-itis). Electric Armor has the potential to be one of the most survivable armor sets in the game for tankers. I have a build for mine that hits 33% defense to all types but psi. Aside from the ridiculously easy to reach energy resistance cap, I will have her at the resistance cap to smashing and lethal as well.
Being highly resistant to smashing, lethal, and energy damage helps out a lot with the new content as that is the bulk of what you find in it. -
It would be best if we could see your build and also know your overall goals for this character. If you do not have it, please download and install Mid's Hero & Villain Designer. It lets you work up your character outside of the game and see your stats as they would be in the game. Once you have created your character in Mid's, please post a forum export from Mid's into this thread. Once we can see your build, we can better help you.
Invul is a defense set with capped resistance to smashing and lethal and decent resistances to everything but psi, so focusing your energies on only going resistance isn't going to improve your survival by much. -
While the builds presented aren't cheap, I think anyone looking to answer survivability questions should check out this thread and read it in its entirety

I one star idiots like that raid leader and move on about my day. I much prefer playing with people who have a clue. I also don't team with anyone who calls an empathy defender a healer. Spamming heals can help on a Keyes, but I much prefer the RAs, AB, and Fort from the empath, then I don't need healing.
-
I should also add that I have considered dropping Combat Jumping and the KB/repel bubbles and picking up Maneuvers, Assault, and Tactics. Defense should stay very close to what I have now, but my to-hit/accuracy and damage would be better off.
I could keep Force Bubble and drop Fly (with Hover filling in for keeping the flying theme) and have a good way to force enemies to stay at range. -
Ignoring the power pick order, as that isn't that isn't important at the moment, does anyone have kind of critique for this attempt at a Ill/FF build? I realize that I am above softcap in a few areas, but I was going for as close to new softcap as I could get in ranged without gimping other areas of the toon. Force Bubble and Repulsion field are more there for using when needed and not to be ran the entire time. Phantom Army is perma if you ignore cast time. I prefer Psionic Mastery for the additional mez protection (namely sleep).

@Elektro
I have a Fire/Fire tank and while I don't have an Elec/Elec tank, I do have an Elec/Elec scrapper (and an Elec/Fire tank I am leveling up).
I like both combos quite a bit, and neither is a slouch, but I think I like Elec armor better than I do Fire. Also, there are few things in this game as satisfying to me as taking out a mob with lightning rod and/or shield charge (and LR edges out SC for me, YMMV). -
I do wish Mids factored the average from this proc into account, maybe with an on/off option. Would be useful for the Gaussian's proc as well
-
@Crimson_Knight
The problem with that (and it was something I looked at actually) is that it drops Dark Consumption from 45-ish endurance recovery to 30-ish endurance recovery per enemy hit. That is perfectly fine when I hit 3+ from the mob, but that isn't always an option. I know from play experience that Dark/Dark can drink blue like it is going out of style, so opted for the 45ish route.
Then again, with a Cardiac Core it could all be moot, and the toon is far from 50. -
I have been toying around with a Dark/Dark for a theme reasons and have been toying around with various ways of hitting softcap and still being at least moderately happy with my overall slotting.
so far here is what I have:

@Crimson_Knight
I would be interested in seeing your build, if you wouldn't mind posting it -
Actually my biggest hangup is how many absolutely terrible players of Khelds that there are compared with good players. The group I play with most often agrees. We have played with some epic Khelds, but they are so few and far between that it makes /regen without Integration look good.
Case in point, team ran an ITF a little while back with a pug Kheld. He had Stygian Circle, yet was constantly having to be healed and/or rezed by other team members. He never touched it. One of the other players who actually knows how to play a Warshade finally understood why we avoid teaming with Khelds most of the time. -
I went for high recharge, high resistance, and softcap while in Shadow Meld on my elec/elec scrapper. He is a lot of fun to play, but has a fair amount of things to manage compared with some of my other toons. If I recall correctly, I have Shadow Meld recharging in 24 seconds and some change. Too many Cimerorans too quickly and he can't hang, but have little trouble elsewhere.

That spreadsheet was exactly what I needed, looks like 30% is the highest defense on anyone outside of special tier 9 type powers

Ok, what I was meaning by the original question was numbers for specific AVs, not that AVs have a base number. how much defense does mako have outside of elude? What about other AVs?
