  1. That is a ridiculous response from support.

An open ended demand that players not play their toons and a 2/3 week wait is beyond the realm of acceptable.

They should be ashamed of the canned response, disgusted with the time it is taking to fix it and apologetic to all affected.
  2. I am guessing this is a respec build?

If alphas are a problem, the easiest solutions include liberal inspiration use and the Medicine pool.

[/ QUOTE ] If you have enough time to fire off aid self, alpha strikes aren't your problem.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    I don't get it.

Alpha's come in, health goes down, /WP has no self heal, take Medicine pool, fire off Aid Self...heal damage from alpha's.

Sounds about like a /Regen or /Invul after they take an alpha volley, but I guess I am stupid.

I would swap Mind Over Body and Taunt in where you take them.

I would go with Focused Accuracy over Conserve Power (you don't need it on a WP Tanker) so you can slot Gaussian's: Chance for Build Up in it.

You have the Numina's and Miracle rares (and Performance Shifter?) in there. You don't need any of those (especially since you elected not to take Hasten) ... you will never see the middle of your endurance bar) and they would probably serve another of your characters better. That's including SoW crashes.

I would take Hurl over Laser Beam Eyes (more damage) unless you're really just trying for a Superman knockoff.

Worry less about slotting for +recovery in set bonuses and more for +regen and +health.

    Otherwise you're looking good.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Right now at level 43 with no recharge bonuses and fully slotted Quick Recovery and Stamina I am still having to down blues to keep my End bar from crashing over long fights.

I can't see it getting any better once I have a global recharge level of 55% added to the mix making my attacks run even faster. Thus my reason for pushing End recovery up.

As to Conserve Power, it is basically a filler to get to Laser Beam Eyes.

While I would rarely use CP I doubt that I would ever turn on Focused Accuracy since after the nerf it is essentially worthless and still costs an insane amount of endurance to run.

I prefer LBE over Hurl for a ranged attack as it costs less endurance to use, has a faster recharge time and a faster animation. It also adds a different type of damage to the set (energy) which can be helpful when fighting things with high levels of Smashing defense or resistance.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Something doesn't sound right with Stamina and Quick Recovery and still running out of Endurance.

I'm guessing that prior to long fights you are probably clicking Rage and Strength of Will?

They both have 120 second duration and crash your Endurance when they expire.

  6. OP:

    Is that a leveling build?

If so, I'd rethink the order you chose your powers. You aren't going to be killing much with Lunge, Spine Burst, Impale and Quills without taking Build Up much earlier than 28.

Your slotting seems off too; you seem to be picking powers and slotting for set bonuses instead of leveling, so sorry if this is a respec build.
  7. I'll give some love to Spines for taking on bosses, rather than a boss.

Assuming this is for some sort of boss farm build, if you are taking on bosses, Spines is worth at least two glances.
  8. I'd take a minute to learn about IO's and set bonuses before I invested anything into a build. You can really break a build taking for a set bonus you don't really need while gimping your build. Figure out your goal (Tanking, Damage, etc.) and make sure it fits the role you play.

First, what is your goal for the IO set's? Are you looking for improved Regen, improved Recharge, Damage, Defense, Resistances, etc? My 50 Spines/WP, for example, went more towards maximum health and Regen bonuses.

Second, your slotting seems to be more towards getting a full set of 6, but you gain bonuses for sets once you get 2 slotted, so you may want to rethink 6 slotting Stamina and only one slotting Health (for example, 3 Numina's in Health gains 12% Regen and 2% to max health, versus 2% DMG Buff and 3% Defense buff).

You can play around and see how your bonuses can really stack up without taking full sets.
  9. I've got a 50 Spines/WP that I've put through a few different builds for fun, and I stayed away from Tough/Weave and took Aid Other/Aid Self.

The big hole in /WP being no self heal. I ran mine to 50 with neither Aid Self, Tough or Leadership, as I never cared for Leadership or Tough's rather smallish bonus, and never have taken Aid-Self because of the interrupt.

But now that I've respecced into Aid Self, I have noticed its benefits are actually quite strong. First, you only have to take 2 powers in the pool to get it, and you can ignore slotting or even using Aid Other, which is nice. So that's two powers versus three, and only having to slot and use the one. So you've "wasted" a power pick (pretty typical of Pool Powers), but saved a power and slots.

Basically, my build is all of the Spines powers but Confront (I wish I could take it with the -Range, but single target...meh) and all of the /WP powers except Resurgence. Hasten, Aid Other/Aid Self, Hurdle/Health/Stamina, Focused Accuracy, travel power.

I also built for set bonuses that focus on +Max Health and + Regen have made this the best toon I've ever made, hands down.
  10. It would help if it were easier to read.

    Blue on blue..ugh.
  11. I'd be interested in seeing how this translates to one enemy, two, three, etc. battles, like a DPS/per target calculation, to see how this translates to battle.

For instance, with Scrappers, the attack chains for DM (#1) maximize DPS, but each attack is single target. For Spines (last on the list), 2 of the four attacks are multiple target attacks and 2 are epic powers.

In other words, how does DPS translate in game, with multiple targets?
  12. I would start out with a simple IO build, make sure powers like Hasten aren't missing (your first build had it late, last build not at all) and that you are going to be able to slot the powers effectively while leveling (I know you've got experience from what you've said, so it should be easy) without sacrificing effectiveness early for set bonuses later.

I found /WP to be the best Secondary for my playstyle, its survivability is huge. I'd seriously consider giving Aid Other/Aid Self a shot over Boxing/Tough/Weave. I respecced mine (not B/T/W but other powers) into AS/AO and the change was very noticeable. Perhaps on a second build you could give it a try.

I'll log on and grab my build and run it through Mid's, just for comparison (of course its Spines but it should be comparable).
  13. Are you building with set bonuses in mind?

I stopped using those hero planners, mainly because I've been playing so long I know what works for me.

What is the goal of your build (as in, what playstyle is this matching)?

And is this a levling build or respec?
  14. I run FA full time and with 3 slotted Stamina and 4 slotted QR (one PERF SHIFT +END) my Endurance is NEVER an issue. Of course my primary is different (Spines), but Ednnurance has never been an issue running FA full time. I believe I have it 3 slotted with Guiassan's (SP?), but will have to check.
  15. I'd drop Boxing, Tough and Weave, Resurgence and Conserve Power.

Never been a fan of Tough/Weave for Scrappers; I think you'd get more bang for the buck by taking Aid Other/Aid Self. You should be able to get set bonuses that do better than Tough/Weave anyways.

I'd also choose Focused Accuracy over Conserve Power, mainly because you have both Stamina and Quick Recovery. Just a note you have two Perf Shifter Unique's in your build, which will skew your bonus totals on your build. You've also got a ton of slots in these two powers, which I'd shift elsewhere, like into RTTC and HS, for instance

..... all this effort to make some really intricate and gorgeous magic costumes, and no sign of a simple Wizard Robe variation of the Trenchcoat? Comeon devs, people have been asking for a basic Wiz's Robe for ages!

    [/ QUOTE ]

SexyJ has said that with the current engine, player robes are an impossibility, IIRC. Seems he's tried it several times, but could never get the to work.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yeah, it basically comes down to the fact that there are certain powersets (coughmartialartscough) that make true "wizard robes" impossible to animate. Jay explained this as much in the Q&A at HeroCon.

    [/ QUOTE ]

If you can exclude primaries from mixing with certain secondaries, why not exclude costumes from certain powersets, but not all?
  18. I always wonder what else is coming down the pipeline that they've neglected to properly data mine, and how significant a change will they implement to fix the "problem?"
  19. Ah the old need to fix bugs but have to roll out a new Issue paradox: each Issue has bugs that won't be fixed in any kind of reasonable timeframe because they are too busy making a new Issue with new bugs...

    Snow_Globe,

We realize that Positron set an expectation, however this was done without consultation of our publishing schedule. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you.

Unfortunately this is the only date before next year we can grant this gift.

2 days' notice is far more annoying to me than Posi not getting the date right.
  21. Objective: The ability to change builds "on the fly" would be nice, rather than having to do it at a trainer. And the timer should be shorter as you level. 15 minutes at lvl 1, down to something nreasonable at 50.

Subjective: I wish I had enough infl. to pay for a second build...
  22. Objective: Choosing shields on the character creator couldn't be more annoying. Unless it included being poked in the eye.

Subjective: My year old is in love with Shields. Someday I hope he gives me some time to play so I can try it out...
  23. Perma rewards for not doing anything sounds like a bad idea to me.

Frankly, this and the new Merits are so "meh" to me that I really, really, REALLY don't care one way or another about them.
  24. Merits:

Objective: No opinion. Haven't done anything that gave me a merit.

Subjective: Once I learn wtf to do with Vanguard Merits, perhaps I'll give a flying flock enough to learn wtf to do with these newfangled Merits.

    Perhaps.

But my overall impression is similar to what I've read from other people: what possible purpose could be served by adding more ways to buy stuff when we already have ways of buying that stuff?

If stuff is too expensive, increase drop rates and focus on making what is in game work right instead of adding yet MORE BROKEN CRAP to a game that is filled with BROKEN CRAP.

  25. Sorry you had to arrive at such a tumultuous time in the game.

About the only two worse times might have been the GDN and ED.

Other than that, welcome, hope you enjoy the game!
