Vetrans Glitch: I didn't earn these
My peacebringer got the 9-42 month rewards, including 3 character redeem slots. I've sent in a submission to the people over it all. For now, though, Perry Winkle will have to sit in limbo.

I have one of my favorite characters affected as well. I even tried updating my petition to find out if I can use my character and they just said "we assure you we are still looking into what has caused this..." blah blah.
This Friday will make 2 weeks. (maybe 3). If nothing is done by then.. I'm just going to use the character anyway. I understand there is a lot going on, but that should be plenty of time if even to copy the info somewhere so they wont have to datamine through as much to find the cause.
I would not wait 2 weeks to use a toon.
Report it, give it some time, and then play away.
Support expecting someone to simply shelve effected toons without a time frame or set date for weeks on end is not ok.
I understand support needs to do things, at least just notify the person within the 24 hours they will be doing so.
What if they have to restore your character to before the glitch happened? Would you rather have to shelve that character until it's fixed, or lose everything you'd picked up because you continued to play them?
That might be why they recommended not playing them.
In this situation I'd be politely inquiring regularly as to whether they have any estimate for fixing it, am I likely to lose any legitimate gains since then when it is fixed, etc.
Any of your suggestions could be valid.
If that were the case, a little more information for the people that do follow up other than a canned response would go a long way.
That is not the case as people here are complaining about it.

Add me to this group as pf last night. My lvl 30 Rad/Rad Defender was awarded vets he wasn't suppose to have. Sent a petition on it, got the canned response. So I too have to sit and wait until the "all-good" is announced.
That is a ridiculous response from support.
An open ended demand that players not play their toons and a 2/3 week wait is beyond the realm of acceptable.
They should be ashamed of the canned response, disgusted with the time it is taking to fix it and apologetic to all affected.
I got the 45 month vet badges and rewards on my lvl 30 MM the other day. I should only have up to the 21 months stuff. I sent a bug report and got the standard, stock reply. I played her the very next day. I figure as long as I don't claim any of the extra rewards, or use anything I didn't have before then, I should be ok. I'm not gonna sit that toon on the shelf just because NC has a slower than molasses support team.

[/ QUOTE ] The reason they don't want you to play is so they can more easily datamine to find the last thing that character did that might have caused it. Not knowing how the data is exactly set up, it may not be easy for them to simply "ignore everything after X date".
Like I said above, 2 weeks is well over my limit, and I'm playing mine this Friday regardless. Once it gets to 1 month, I might even claim the Vet rewards too. lol j.k

This means that anything that you may have lost access to should have become available again. We are aware that certain Vet Rewards have also been affected as a result of this issue. If you have gained access to such rewards, we encourage you not to use them as they could cause problems with your character in the future when the bug is corrected. Basically.. check your rewards and be as specific as possible when sending the report... and DON'T claim anything you didn't actually earn.. no matter how tempting it might be! lol
I have plenty of Alts. I have become a regular Alt-a-holic. I have found I am also a Badge-a-holic and Level-a-holic. The issue is that I just did a respec on that toon ( a tanker ) and I was hoping to get some by-proxy stress relief. I have her copied to the test server, but I can't copy my progress from the test back to regular play. I have another friend who has a toon close to her level and we were going to have weekly mission-dates until we both hit 50. This kinda kills that plan.
I am patient and I understand this is probably far more complicated than I am making it but between I14, I15, and Going Rogue, I really think this is taking a back burner. :sigh:
I am almost sorry to say that I am glad I am not alone anymore. I don't know anyone else who was effected by this and while I am sorry we are all SOL, I am glad I have people to grief with.

Okay, this bug is still occurring. Logged into my MM Sunday night to recruit someone into my VG. Logged back into him later because I had forgotten to check his market transactions.
All of the sudden BOOM. 45 Month insta-vet.
Aroo?!?!?
Just the MM (which I don't really play much, thankfully). Had this happened on my main, or on one of the toons I'm actively playing right now, I'd have been peeved.
Even so, until the change gets reverted, my VG now has a pair of Arachnos Fliers for gits and shiggles.

my reply to canned response is often with canned laughter.
Ignoring anyone is a mistake. You might miss something viral to your cause.
why even bother submitting this as a glitch, i figure if they going to lock up your toon for a couple weeks because u have some badges you shouldn't honestly who cares, i've been around this game since the 2nd day after launch however i was late on the forums, but as a vet i could care less if someone else has the vet badges oh well, because seriously that 2 weeks time you could of been to lvl 50 by then from just playing the game regularly and not farming.

[/ QUOTE ] Because it's a fault in the system.. I don't care if people have extra rewards either, but the same bug is apparently causing accounts to be granted with access to items that other people PAID for, and also, some paid accounts are being stricken with trial limitations.
If it's at all related to an error on the billing server.. I'd hope to see it fixed ASAP so we don't all get charged extra money.. or even have our accounts unrightfully canceled... or who knows what else (if the problem were to persist and grow).
The point of reporting it is not necessarily because somebody has access to something they shouldn't, but because the way it was obtained is a flaw in the system that needs to be fixed. Not to mention.. the Devs asked us to report it so they can datamine and find the causes. That's good enough for me.

So what? They're going to remove 1000 prestige from my group permanently?
And again, the character is mainly a parody/placeholder (was created specifically for the winter event) and is a whopping 10th level (and has XP turned off). If he goes away, it's not a huge loss. There's only a couple things in the market that haven't sold off yet.
Is it a risk? Sure. Is it a huge risk? Not really.

For all we know, depending on how the script is written to remove the rewards, claimed items might not even be part of the script and they might not end up being removed correctly, and you'd just be stripped of your ownership over that item. Then the VG base could become corrupt and inaccessible because of the item that exists without an owner. Depending on how many other people it happens to when the rewards are removed, it could be a great deal of time before it's fixed.
Maybe it's not important or a great risk to you, but it could be important to other people in your group (providing it's not a solo VG). I just see it as very irresponsible to claim the item to begin with. You know it's not right. There have been posts and motds saying not to do it. It creates more work for the Devs to have to add the item-removal script to begin with. And for all we know, that very script could cause more issues for other people once it runs.
Obviously you can do what you want. I don't personally care. I just think people should be aware that it might not be a good idea to mess around with it. It could cause problems, and its not an honest thing to do.
My husband has two villians that gained the 12month and 18moth rewards. but it is good to know that he can still play the toons, he hasn't played them in over 2 weeks. Just got to let him know not to use the rewards.

I've bugged it as well. So it's not like the devs are going to "miss" that I have this stuff. And if it kills that toon, I'll lose an L10 toon that I didn't play, was a parody toon anyhow, and has a whopping 5000 inf on him. If it damages my VG, wow, they restore from a backup. Or I'm out a small VG that I prestige-botted myself.

[/ QUOTE ] I never said there was anything wrong with you mentioning that the main issue is still ongoing. That was a good point to make.
I only commented on you claiming the un-earned rewards, and explained how that might not have been a wise choice. It's only my opinion, but I felt people should be made aware of the information that has been circulating. Let them judge for themselves whether or not they want to take the chance on their own. Like you said.. you never saw the warnings either.
I logged in to one character on my account (my very first toon) and she was awarded Vetrans Rewards for the next two years. I am a new player and haven't earned my 6th Month Badge yet, officially.
I already have a support ticket submitted but the notice that came out about 2/3 weeks ago said I shouldn't play my character until the glitch is fixed. I know you are working on it (and I want to thank the Dev's for all the awesome work!) But can I please play my toon in the meantime?
Also, how many other people are out there? Until they fix this, maybe we can compare notes and help them figure out what went wrong.
