Today is frustrating in general, I woke up at 6am CST and couldn't sleep so I wanted to play before going to my 1st class of the day, but server maintenence. no biggie i thought, i'll wait the 2 hours.

2 hours later: servers are still down. hmmm maybe they are fixing pvp or kheldians finally?

an hour later: servers still down. well i gotta goto class now, i guess i'll play after my last class/meeting of the day.

5pm CST rolls around: wtf servers are still down? oh wait they came up and crashed a few times and were taken down to fix the problem the devs made in the 1st place.

an hour later: ah Chipotle, the cause and cure of all lives little problems.

11 minutes later: food coma, who cares about the servers anymore?

Alright guys I read through the last 8 pages of posts, thats like 200 posts per page and didn't see anything in reference to this powerset combination, so I apologize if this is an extraneous post.

I rolled a Kinetic Melee/ Fire Armor brute. Mainly because I wanted to try out Kinetic Melee since I just recently reactivated a couple accounts. I ended up going with Fire Armor, its a set I have a lot of experience with I think maybe like 6 or so lvl 50 characters of mine have Fire Armor. Don't get me wrong the other sets are great too and I have lvl 50 verisons of those with the exception of Energy Armor. I suppose that set is better now, its just I was extremely turned off from it when CoV went live, it seemed lackluster and generally weak compared to other sets.

The Brute I made is a Praetorian who just went to Talos and joined the Heroes of Paragon. He's only lvl 20 and sure the attacks and powers I have currently are weak as they are unslotted, I see potential in this combination. I've looked at mids and have a fair understanding of how power siphon works. I really think this combination could turn out to be really strong.

I mean looking over the powers there's tons of damage output, mitigation through: (-damage, and knock down), and a self heal. I rolled the combination as a brute to make use to building damage via fury and the survival of the build via the numbers I ran in mids.

My questions are:
1. Why haven't I seen anyone else with this combination of powers ingame?
2. If there are anyone out there with a high lvl kin/fire brute, what's your experience been with the combination and what kind of playstyle do you have?

Hey guys I'm looking into getting a new laptop. I want it to be able to handle CoX, infact I want it to be able to run minimally 2 accounts at a given time without much if any lag. I'm just a college student so I'll be looking at keeping the price down as well as much as possible. Thanks for any help you can provide.

thanks, i'll keep an eye out for it, but unfortunately i don't have test installed as i have a lot of uncompressed video footage i have to edit for a final due next week, so i guess i'll look for the patch in the coming week, hopefully it works again, cause i have no intention on leaving my last character unfinished. i'll check back here later this week when i try this supposed patch to see how it works or if not. hopefully everyone has a great weekend!

yea i tried even though i knew what the results would be. because its from toshiba, they have a locked jumper on the intel gma chipset, which has prevented me from installing any driver updates from intel. i know its extremely annoying.

hey pretty much just what the title says. i'm using a toshiba qosmio f45 laptop which uses the ever ****** intel 965m chipset (i'd change it but the ***** is intregrated, and i'm a broke *** college student), i'm also on vista with 2gb of ram.

in the past this has never been a problem, hell about a year ago i managed to quad box the game on this laptop (running 4 instances of the game on 1 machine, for those of you to which the concept is alien), and even as of like last week when it was still i16 it worked fine.

my problem is now, under i17, whenever i click on the cohupdater and after it downloads what it needs to and i click next, it opens for a second and acts like its gonna load the login screen but then it crashes unexpectely. it says the fault is in ig4dev32.dll. naturally i thought maybe the dll was corrupt so i redownloaded another, but no luck. i re-verified my coh files, no luck. i attempted to update my intel 965m drivers which i'm stuck with getting toshiba's variant of them (in which all i can say is next time your looking for a computer shoot yourself in the foot with a stapler twice before buying a toshiba, they never release driver updates). after that failed attempt i ran ms-config and set up a selective startup so no 3rd party software/services were running in the background. after that i tried to bypass the updater with the old -project "coh" that didn't work, then i tried -compatiblecursors 1, still nothing, then i went with -renderthread 1 and still nothing.

seriously i've played this game since launch and have 3 accounts, i have 1 character that's not at level 50, hes at like lvl 47 or possibly lvl 48 ( i can't remember, so sue me its finals week) and believe me i've quit the game already like 3 times on temporary periods, as honestly the game gets stale and im usually too busy to play, however i wanted to get my last character to lvl 50 and since i17 has came out i've been unable to log in and finish that character off and at this point i'm running out of ideas. (i mean hell i even made a backup of my drivers and then installed some modded drivers which makes them look like i was using the nvidia 7900 gts, which incidentally didn't work, however it works wonders on games like fallout 3 and bioshock and prototype) so honestly at this point i'm not sure what to do aside of deactivating my accounts in the hope that this gets fixed or ay the very least i get a coupon to Outback for a free Sirloin Steak couresty of the devs for making the game unplayable for me.

I miss the old forums, these days its always out with the old and in with the new, now with the forum nerf, there is truly nothing left. i mean first i missed having my 4 stars next to my name in the forums and when they nerfed the player rankings i thought the world was ending, and then they finish ruining the world with these servers, i mean seriously the color scheme is icky.

pfft brand new ppl dont need any special care, when i was brand new i went to pvp and some guy popped build up aim and then i popped phase, and then popped build up aim and detoggled phase and 2 shot him. i was told i wasn't any good because i forgot to tell him to l2pvp or pwnt.

as for policing zones back when i played (i'm since retired) i'd duo box a hero and villain in rv and once i saw a fight club usually at atlas, i brought both toons there, and then quickly killed all the heroes, and then switched to my hero and killed all the villains. do that like 30 times each time in zone with an "arena if for duels, this is open pvp" auto response message.

but now that i'm retired there's no one left to stop the madness or illegal dueling on guardian.

i play aion, well the korean version of it currently i got an eloysian sorc and just boom the [censored] outta stuff, i was planning on making a gladiator too. but i'm prolly gonna step back from computer games completely for a while and really buckle down on my favorite august/septemeber pasttime, and since there's a whole new bunch of freshly turned 18 year old girls willing to play once school starts up again in a few weeks i think i gotta et focused on the important aspects of the fall if u know what i mean.

i would if i was planning on staying around the game, i'd just duo-box and be my own partner for 2v2s, problem is i cancelled my accounts and hanging the cape up again, maybe down the road if pvp gets awesome again ill come back, but i puke each time i see pvp and what its become.

but with me leaving is there really any reason to play? well i guess the game will be safer for parents not wanting to have to explain things to their kids when i make interesting quips and references to anatomy.

rumor has it there's a hidden pvper you can unlock during the tournament given the right combination of buttons, but its not advised to put that code in because its almost guranteed death.

that's my thought too, so back when i'd actually get in game and there would be action in rv, if i saw ppl just standing around trying to duel, i'd kill all of the villains, then alt-tab to my villain in rv and kill all of the heroes, and explain that they wouldn't of died like that if they were in the arena where duels are supposed to take place. good times, oh well.

granite/dm is very survivable, the only time you'd die is if you got into arena with a decent pvper with good burst/debuff.

naturally you'll have to par your granite tank with your buddy who will be playing a kin, so you'll have speed boost and fulcrum shift on at all times, so yea in pve you will not die if you play your cards right.
