  1. I guess Spiritual is still the obvious choice. I was just worried it'd increase my end problems a bit at times.
  2. Nooo I've been loving my Dark/Dark! Ah well still playing her as best I can.
  3. I'm with you guys on the Water/Poison boat I don't play a lot of powerful characters, so I wanted to try to make Poison work and thought I may be able to be ok with it since Water mitigates a bit.
I heard it couldn't stack with itself as a primary target, but if you switch targets the splash will stack with the primary hit. Though that seems a little difficult to engineer at times and I don't know how long it lasts.
  4. I really do want to love this set too, but for differing reasons. I agree the variety is somewhat lacking, but honestly a lot of MM sets suffer from it. We're lucky to get new models. I feel like its pretty lackluster playing too. I'm trying to ride it out until I get the 2nd enhancement, but I feel like it takes me so long to even take down one target and they're pretty squishy. I'm re-feeling the pain of playing Ninjas. I know not all MM sets are going to be fantastic, but for a paid set I wanted something more :< Yeah I'm probably spoiled by playing demons and thugs. I've tried all the sets now to varying levels.
  5. I thought zombies were pretty stupid and squishy- can Time keep them going?
I didn't know you could /release and then be able to use the Soul Extraction, I thought they had to die naturally. But its been a while since I played her, maybe that changed. I think some people consider SE a skippable power, but I think its fun. It fires from very long range, flies, and is just generally fun. I use him as a pulling sniper sometimes. He does oddly stay alive after you die, though its not likely he'll live long since he's not super durable. I wonder if its a bug they never bothered fixing.
  6. I made a Water/Poison for thematic synnergy (poison looks nice colored blue) but I have a feeling I'm going to regret it later. I got to 50 on a Necro/Poison MM, but I never felt she was a good character once I hit high level content (I really think I got there just because I liked her, not because she was effective). I just really want Poison to be good since I like the graphics and splash :/ But I think it still needs more love.

Hmm, the effects really look pretty firey even when different colors. You'd have to play with it yourself in character builder and see.
  8. I've felt a little bit once I hit higher levels on a troller, I feel less effective, and I was kinda sad about it. Heck my empathy/energy defender felt pretty useless because people didn't seem to need much healing and my damage was a joke.
But its also partly because I can feel near-godly at times during regular game stuff. Having a fully effective controller on trials would render them pretty laughable. So you just have to rely more on the rest of you team at times and accept you can't be effective in every situation. I think the type of controller you are makes a difference in how limited your options can be at times.
  9. Choking Cloud is one of those YMMV depending on your playstyle powers.
I really like it, and I wouldn't play without it, but you have to be someone who jumps in the middle a lot. I generally start a fight with PA and ST and then run in.
I see the hold coming up often enough that I appreciate it although most people say its erratic. I like being able to Flash or EM Pulse (which also needs you to be in the middle) and then have it help lockdown any harder targets by applying a second hold (though I know this isn't guaranteed). I put in the chance for +2 mag hold proc and I see that come up a fair amount (it makes the electric hold visual effect). I just like having that little bit more of control on a largely soft control set.

    /nature affinity

I'm curious about this myself, since those seem the natural visually-synnergizing sets and I've been wanting to do plant on a controller. The thing I was wondering if is nature affinity tends to be a little redundant on a controller, since nature seems to be somewhat focused on healing and with a good amount of control people shouldn't generally be taking much damage, but the powerset does seem to have other helpful abilities. But I havn't looked into the powerset a lot yet, I was waiting for the final version to be live in case there were changes.
  11. That proc was really an amazing change to Bonfire. It made a skippable power much more worth taking. The only thing I think is sad is future player ability to afford that expensive proc makes a big difference in how effective it is.
  12. I just got my Illus/Rad up to 50, and did the missions to unlock her Alpha slot. I looked through the list, but didn't see any particular one that jumped out at me as a good choice to fill it. Several of their secondary effects seem irrelevant.
I'm a pretty casual player (so I'm not rolling in $ though I have a fair amount, and I tend to alt a lot), I only have 2 other 50s who are pretty old, but this is the first character who I really like (and feel is a strong character) to get to that level.

I've spent some time set slotting her for recharge, as well as some accuracy, though I'm sure its not as optimal as it could be. My Phantom Army doesn't have a lot of downtime. She had some end problems but I took Energy for my epic and Conserve Energy really helps. I may respec into Fire, I know that's more optimal for damage, although Energy also matches Illusion's style more (I wish you could recolor the epics).

Thanks! I don't visit the forums a lot so I apologize if this question is redundant.
  13. I have one of those too, and she's been languishing trying to get up to having Singularity. I feel like I want to at least give her a chance and get up to it because I have trouble liking Gravity, and I thought it would be a damaging combination, but I just don't feel controly enough to feel really survivable. I also was hoping I'd like it better after the Gravity improvements but still wasn't feeling it. I think I'm spoiled by other control sets, I like a lot of my other trollers better.
  14. I thought it was a pretty fun event, they seemed to have really tried to make it different, and it wasn't very long. I think that set is going to end up being pretty pricey on the AH, its a shame its over before I could get a lot of it. The knockback to knockup converter is FANTASTIC for certain powers. Suddenly Bonfire is a good power.
I didn't understand what to do with all the roles in the heist, so I usually stuck to hacker since that was easy. I tried thief but couldn't figure out what I was supposed to do with the vent to get into the vault. I looked and looked and couldn't figure out what I was supposed to do, nor find something to click.
  15. I find I more often fire off buffs on the run than gather anymore. Just keep an eye out, when you see its a good time or you have most of the team together, center yourself, fire away and keep going.

I personally had liked how Fade was, it was a good opener or "oh crap" power, though I suppose at later levels that doesn't matter much. I havn't played the new version enough to judge.

Is it me, or are people now more transparent than they were before with it? Its cool, but I think it can confuse people into thinking its a stealth. Or maybe its partly with shadowfall also going.
  16. I went with /Time mostly because I already had a Thugs/Dark I loved, and hadn't tried /Time on a MM. My other /Time character I just havn't been playing much so I wanted to give the set more love. Both seem like great choices. I like it so far, though with all the stuff talking about "boosted damage" in BM it seems like it doesn't really do much damage.
I didn't know you could perma Farsight, good to know.

I don't think I could skip Fluffy. He's just so useful! He's good at keeping some healing up without any fuss, and does some other nice debuffs to help you out. I've always thought its nuts MMs get just one set that allows them to keep the controller pet, and its one of the best controller pets.
  17. They may not be able to emote since they're newish models and they havn't done the animations for anything? I havn't really tried anything yet.

    Pack Mentality

I did notice some crits from my pets at low levels, but not very often. Thanks for some clarification on how this works
Its kind of a shame you have to give up critting for survivability, but I guess at least the option is there if its decent survivability. Does it seem like the crit occurrence goes up a good amount once you get that Fortify power? I'm not there yet.
  19. Yeah, its nice pets have gotten some more love, though it seems like general consensus BM is kind of lacking. Its definitely not a top tier good set, but I don't know where it really falls when compared to other sets. It could use some fixes. I enjoy it, but am feeling like its a bit lackluster so far in both pet survivability and damage, but not Ninja bad levels.

I do think all the controller pets needed it, since only a couple of them were actually useful.
  20. I don't think Group Fly would help, since I notice caltrops seem to have a pretty ridiculously high reach on other characters with Hover. Its just a rough thing you have to deal with with zombies :/ (Although flying zombies would amuse me.)
Yeah the best advice I can give is to make them drop and then pull the fight around the corner, but I know they do tend to drop more before the fight is done. My zombies just pretty much hate any kind of damage patches. Such is not being one of the best pet sets.

I went with Soul on my Necro/Poison largely because I thought Soul was really pretty. It was my first lvl 50 so pretty and more or less useful kinda won out over other considerations. I don't know that any of the PP sets are *highly* useful anyway.

    Pairing beasts

I went with Beast/Time after reading both sets, it seemed most fun to me (I was kinda glad to read later in forums it is a good choice). I usually end up not sticking with shield sets even if they are good, it tends to bore me, although this set the primary is actually more active than some.
I'd probably most recommend Dark or Sonic. The pets are highly melee, and you will be using your attacks to get the most out of the set. I was considering Dark, but I already like my Thugs/Dark a lot.
One thing I like about the beasts is they have a pretty low profile. Though sometimes this is bad because I don't see where they are. I have had them randomly run off before.

I also agree so far BM seems lackluster and I feel like the pets have a lot of do-nothing time. Not as bad as Ninja, but Ninja is just so bad. I'm still going to give it a chance and get all the pets before I make a final judgement, but I do feel like they're squishy and take quite a while to take down just 1 target. You can get away with it on a team, but solo play should be going faster than this.

I feel like they're getting a habit of tossing a more or less kinda done set in the shop just to get the money going, and then fixing it later (like Dark). I was really surprised to see this out before Staff. Except this set has much less clout to be fixed sooner rather than later, compared to other sets that apply to many more ATs. I am concerned. I'm going to play for now, but with the expectation fixes will show up later. If not, she's going to likely end up shelved indefinitely. I honestly was just really looking forward to something new in MMs, since I've played every other set to some degree.
  22. Ninjas will never make you happy. They're just sad

I made a Beast Mastery/Time character and its fairly fun so far, though I don't know ultimately how good it will be. I have an Ice/Time Controller, I've been trying to make Ice work for me, but with no damage I have trouble sticking with the character. It just hasn't felt as effective as I wanted it to be, and you're looking for damage anyway.

My friend plays a Fire/Time Corr and loves it. We wreck house together.

I'd really like this. It seems like its not useful to swap out of Fire very often.
I do enjoy my DP/Traps Defender, but honestly a good part of her enjoyability is theme. And I'm used to sucky damage.
  24. I went with C, seems like it'd fit well with the most variety of styles. I think B does seem too similar to the Think Tank to me, though granted you can't just get that one anymore.
