best time manipulator?

Hey all

I'm a bit fascinated with Time Manipulation, I did not really think much of it at first but I've seen what it can do and looking at it closer I'm starting to grasp just how good it actually is, and I'm interested in exploring it fully.

But I'm not sure what character to do it with, characters I've started is a Time/Ice Defender and two masterminds, one is robots/time and the other ninja/time.

I find myself switching between them a lot and I've been thinking about a ?/time corruptor as well.

I'm looking to make it sort of an all-around character that work well both solo and teaming.

Currently I'm leaning towards the time/ice defender, but I'm concerned it's damage might dissapoint me later on.

If you were to make an all around character with time manipulation, what would you make?

Time's like black, it goes with anything.
Controllers can take advantage of more aspects of time than other classes (long recharges, end hungry, pets to buff/heal).
Defenders are going to have the biggest numbers.
Corruptors are going to put out the most damage (though I think of time as more of a buffing/migation set, so it rounds them out more than it enhances them).
Masterminds are going to really take advantage of some things (buffs, healing, migation) and have a lot of aspects go to waste (end and recharge).

My /time is a fire/time corruptor, and he is an absolute blast to play.

I suggest a mastermind. Time can be very clicky and busy if played to the fullest extent possible. Between temporal mending, temporal selection refreshers, time crawls and time stops, refreshing power boost, farsight, and chrono shift, and casting distortion field, there isn't much time to cast anything else. And unlike many other sets with 1 or 2 duds, every one of those powers are useful and work best when cast as soon as they are up. I felt stretched extremely thin on my time/sonic defender trying to use all of my powers to the fullest. Ironically, just not enough time.

That's why I suggest a Mastermind. The pet attacks and commands don't waste valuable casting time and as a result, it allows you to fully concentrate on maximizing your time powers. That way, you are free to use both your primary and your secondary to their fullest.

Dark/Time/Fire has turned out to be quite fun. Mix in Time's Defense with Dark's -tohit for lots of survival, two hold patches, 2 ST holds.

Not the damage machine of other builds, but quite fun to play!

I second dark/time, and in fact can vouch for BrandX's as well, as we ran an ITF on matching-setted controllers. But that was before I was eligible to slot purples! The damage is pretty darn nice with those in the mix, and I still don't have musculature past tier 1.

How do you softcap demon/time? The highest defense I can come up with is 35%.

21% PB'd FS
4% Maneuvers
10% Pet IOs

Are you treating Time's Juncture -tohit debuff as "defense"?

I think time/ice should be brutal once it fully matures. Time/fire is pretty brutal, too.

This. Buzzsaw Distortion Field and pick Mu and you'll never need to attack ever.

But you can, because you're awesome.

Thanks for your input everybody!

I was -very- tempted to try a /time mastermind, but I don't think all the pets go well with my playstyle, as I tend to prefer very mobile, hover/flying characters.

So... let me present Time Elemental, a time/ice defender!

My only problem right now is I'm not sure if I should keep as time/ice or maybe reroll as time/fire I'm not sure what would be best. With all the massive debuffing time/ does, maybe fire's pure damage would be a better match?

Also, I can't believe I got the name Time Elemental.

If you were a Corruptor? Yes, I'd say go Fire Blast and enjoy double-scourge rain.

Defenders, however, got a specially-nerfed version of Rain of Fire; meanwhile, they keep the full Blaster-level power of Ice Storm and Blizzard in Ice Blast, making it one of the best Blast sets on a Defender (the other being Sonic, in my opinion, for the -20% res/all secondary effect on almost all its powers).

@Draeth Darkstar
Virtue [Heroes, Roleplay], Freedom [Villains], Exalted [All Sides, Roleplay]
Code:
I24 Proc Chance = (Enhanced Recharge + Activation Time) * (Current PPM * 1.25) / 60*(1 + .75*(.15*Radius - 0.011*Radius*(360-Arc)/30))
Single Target Radius = 0. AoE Non-Cone Arc = 360.

Ice Blast it is!

Thank you all for the help, and wish Time Elemental luck in her super hero career

Go Bots/Time/Mace MM and you can softcap to everything but Psi in PVE and S/L/E/NE for iTrials. Very easy and inexpensive to do.

Ice/Time Corrupter was a blast to play as well. Softcapped defense plus TJ and you can tank and drop Ice Storm and Blizzard at your feet.

I just started one of these the other night, it looks to have some serious potential for some fun play.

Ninjas will never make you happy. They're just sad

I made a Beast Mastery/Time character and its fairly fun so far, though I don't know ultimately how good it will be. I have an Ice/Time Controller, I've been trying to make Ice work for me, but with no damage I have trouble sticking with the character. It just hasn't felt as effective as I wanted it to be, and you're looking for damage anyway.

My friend plays a Fire/Time Corr and loves it. We wreck house together.

My fire/time corr is insanely fun to play on a build I don't really even like all that much...
