    'Best' MM?

Totally this. Demons synergizes a bit better with /Dark than /Time but you can't go wrong with either. Bots/Time, as I've demonstrated in another thread, is seriously OP'd. I doubt it will ever get nerfed, however, as the devs have shown almost no interest in addressing MM powerset issues at all as of late.

I team when I want to or, on occasion, when I'm on a toon that must team...but I tend to avoid those AT's that require teaming to succeed.

On an MM you aren't required to team with other players. Its a great AT for soloing (if built/played properly) since you essentially have a sidekicked team of 6 lowbies along with you at all times. Ever since we received the mission difficulty sliders teams have been optional experiences.

Besides...you never have to apologize for going AFK to your henchmen when the phone rings, RL interferes, boyfriend aggro or whatever.
  3. Well its only fair that if you keep stealing END from your foes via Power Sink, you give them a little back in return.
  4. I am a MasterMind. I don't buff unless by sheer nature of the power I manage to catch a few teammates with one.

    And frankly.....what teams?

    Brute TW/??????

TW/Elec has been very popular for good reason. IO'd out, you can easily soft cap S/L/M for PVE without purples. Throw your Defensive Sweep in there and you can almost soft cap for iContent.

High resists, a great heal, crazy recharge and endless END to offset all the other downsides of TW. It's a fantastic pairing.

Clever use of the power, but you can pull Siege or Nightstar with any attack, even something like the Nem staff. Why dip into a whole power pool for just the one power?

Besides, TP Foe and attacks may not be enough to keep their attention locked on you whereas Taunt will.
  7. Staff/Electric is an _AMAZING_ combo if you slot your set bonuses for both +Recharge and +DEF. Using the right Form you all but eliminate any END issues, and you've got Sink there to back you up if you do. I've been using the build below and am thinking about removing Superior Conditioning and perhaps the Epic pool altogether. You just don't need it even with your attack chain going non-stop.

Probably the most fun I've had playing a Brute in a long time. I enjoyed my TW/Elec also but it felt, well...ponderous. Comparing Staff/ to TW/ is a bit like comparing Ninja Sword to Broadsword.

Highly recommend you give this a try. Softcapped S/L/M, high recharge and great END recovery.

  8. Thanks.

I posted this in reply to another thread in the Brutes forum. But I wanted to give you some credit for taking a lot of your build as my base and then tweaking it some. I came up with two builds that are slightly different.

The first build has PVE softcapped S/L/M defense without Guarded Spin. With Guarded Spin, you are softcapped to Lethal and almost Melee for iTrial content. Very good +Recharge and END recovery as well. I did make use of one purple and its a costly one (the Glad Armor +3 DEF). You can live without it if you wish and still stay softcapped to S/L for PVE purposes (and almost for Melee also). Just spam your Guarded Spin.

What the above makes up for in great defense, it lacks in Knockback Protection. Knockback is seldom life-threatening, but it does annoy the crap out of me in those times when I find myself playing Tank for the team or, more commonly when trying to hold an AV's aggro. So if you are willing to lose a little defense (still softcapped to PVE for S/L, and at 43% for Melee) you can try this slightly modified build instead. It may be overkill on KB protection for most PVE content but in the iTrials I found myself getting knocked back more than was acceptable.

As a bonus, I added in a Kismet for a nice To-Hit bonus, and two procs to Guarded Spin (Smash and Lethal chances). Nice to have considering how often you'll be using this power.

    Here's the second build:

  9. I did some major tweaking.....PVE softcapped S/L/M defense without Guarded Spin. With Guarded Spin, you are softcapped to Lethal and almost Melee for iTrial content. Very good +Recharge and END recovery as well. Might want to double check my Rule of Five observance...but I think I kept within the limits. I did make use of one purple and its a costly one (the Glad Armor +3 DEF). You can live without it if you wish and still stay softcapped to S/L for PVE purposes (and almost for Melee also). Just spam your Guarded Spin.

Having leveled a TW/Elec Brute into iTrial content, I think you are better off with high DEF even at the expense of lower resists. Attacks you don't absorb (even at reduced costs) are better than those you do. That's why I'm not that fond of the two builds posted above mine. The defense is lacking and, more importantly to me, strengthening your shields isn't happening until late game. This would make leveling very difficult, even "spamming Energize." While a great idea, anything you are spamming that isn't killing the bad guys is less efficient. This is rule number one from the Farmers Bible to Fire Broots and a lesson I've learned well. Energize is great...but if you are gonna spam, spam an attack.

Here's the short version of this build:

  10. I based my TW/Elec brute off a build someone else posted around here. If interested, I'll find it for you. I made only minor tweaks to their build, like removed all the purple sets they used in favor of cheaper sets and split up the Brute ATO 3x3 into two different powers to get the double def bonuses. I then catalyzed the ATO's and used ENH boosters to two-slot Hasten and a couple of other things.

At any rate, when all was finished, prior to Incarnate powers, I had:

    46% +DEF to Melee
    56% +DEF to S/L
Many of the other types/positionals in the 20's or higher.

Throw in just one attack from Defensive Sweep and you end up with +62% DEF to Melee and +71% to Smashing (Lethal unaffected by Defensive Sweep).

You've also got 60% +RES S//L and of course 90%+ RES to Energy as well.

This was my first Electric Armor anything and I have been very happy with the performance of the toon as I've gone through all the iTrial content. Its very nice to see all the "Deflected" when tanking AV's from all the +DEF. The important thing with /Elec I think is to ensure you take a primary with a +DEF attack in your chain and spam it often. That plus high recharge and you'll be extremely robust in the later levels of the game.

The Damage Aura from Lightning field, under full Fury, is nothing to sneeze at either. Plus a heal and END recovery power makes it a lot like a tougher /Fire brute for comparison purposes.
  11. Myth, do you mind posting the data chunk for your build please?
  12. Just started iTrials with my Staff/Elec Brute after fully IO'ing him starting at 42. I just hit 50 with my TW/Elec Brute last weekend so have that as a fresh comparison.

The difference in kill speed between the two is marginal once you factor in all the animations for Staff. Both are ridiculously survivable. The END recovery in /Elec is a godsend from 40-50 when things just take longer to kill. AV's I've solo'd in Portal Jockey arc (just finished Diabolique prior to posting this) have seemed to be a bit more resistant to Staff attacks than they were to TW. Not sure if that's just my imagination or accurate.

I hadn't tried /Elec prior to TW and only did so because I sort of noticed it as FOTM for awhile there. You get the damage/taunt aura of /Fire but a very strong defensive base for softcapping M/S/L via IO set bonuses. I may fool around a little more with primary slotting as Staff seems to accept a few more sets than did TW. But otherwise...similar.

I really don't find the Forms all that differentiating at the higher levels.
  13. Chimera, Bobcat, Battle Maiden, Malaise...these are all really nothing more than Elite Bosses with harder attacks and more health. I routinely get a toon to 50, fully equip them with an IO build, and then run solo to go get my Portal Jockey accolade. That's how I "fine tune" my builds. If something can't solo those four AV's on +1/+2, its not a good build. There are some that simply can't without inspirations and/or temp powers (dagger is always handy there) but that's my own personal litmus test.

Soloing any AV at even level is enough to say you've "solo'd an AV." Upping the difficulty doesn't necessarily reflect more challenge. For some builds, like an Ill/Rad or some scrapper builds, it simply reflects how much of an "easy mode" AT you are playing. You HAVE to crank it up or its just reflecting the training wheels nature of that particular AT.

Years ago, I solo'd Battle Maiden on a Fire/Fire blaster. I dumped a tray of inspirations down my gullet but that was TOUGH to make it happen and I had to constantly kite and joust to avoid her attacks. I've solo'd AV's on +4 with some of my brute and scrapper builds and didn't feel a fraction of the sense of accomplishment because, well...they are stupid-simple AT's to play and require virtually zero strategy. Just stand there and whack away.

    Its all relative.
  14. Uh no. The moral of this story is don't believe someone who promises you something on the internet. Its most likely a scam.

Drop Temporal Selection onto the Arsonist. In addition to boosting his damage, his Regen is also boosted further from all the other Time healing powers. And if you have Power Boost from your epic, your heals are...well.....EPIC.

Considering all the builds S/he is posting in other forums as of recent as this morning using those same enhancements that were being offered as rewards, I'm thinking the reward has been put to "other uses" already.
  17. Deadline was April 7. No reward paid and even a casual glance at this thread shows several players that fulfilled the obligations of the challenge in different and creative ways.

Seems to me that Princess Darkstar - "Proud" Member of the Handprints of Union - is a dishonorable player in a dishonorable SG. Maybe anyone considering joining their SG should take note of this.

As for those that contributed builds...very nicely done. I think a respec for my HoverCrab Permapet build may finally be in order. These look far better.
  18. /Time gets an awful lot of utility out of Mace Mastery. Scorpion Shield is great S/L/E +DEF, and Power Boost let's you get Farsight up to over +20% DEF if you cast the two together as the PB buff lasts the entirety of FS, plus all sorts of other secondary buffs.

That's how I'd go for my Epic at any rate.
  19. I was really expecting to see far more Dark/Fire/Fire Doms than I did but in general I'm seeing very few Dark Doms at all now that the newness has worn off. Shame really.
  20. I've only had it on my legacy Hami tanking /Regen build. Never since. Far more common on my Brute builds though.
  21. The way these Paragon money grubbers are headed, I wouldn't be surprised to find Issue 26+ brings us "Improved BM" to the Paragon Market. They won't fix what we have...they will charge us 1400 points to BUY the improved, fixed version instead.

Who is this he and his you misogynic misfits keep referring to? And mocking? C'mon...I expressed some outrage (SO MAD) at not being able to have male lions as pets and then two PETA-loving tree huggers jumped in to talk to me about realism in a fantasy super-hero game...like that has any merit to the decision making processes implemented therein at all. THAT was humorous.

Anyway, continue with your own little debate. I'm still SO MAD about this.

And wait.....panthers? SERIOUSLY? PANTHER VANITY PETS ARE COMING? AAAARGH!
  23. You two Wild Kingdom nerds realize we are talking about a Beast Mastery SUPER POWER in a fantasy game about caped crusaders, right?

Screw Marlin Perkins and realism, I want MALE lions to do my bidding. Either that or female thugs for equality since they now gave us female lions.
  24. Depends on if you want to perma-anything from your secondary or Hasten. For example, on a /Time MM, you want to build for both defense and recharge and its possible to softcap almost everything and still have 180+% recharge without purples. That gets you perma hasten, perma power-boosted Farsight (which covers the remainder of your defense) and perma chronoshift. So really...just depends on what you already have to work with in the first place.

With /Traps, its already a pretty slow playstyle so +RCHGE might not be that game changing for you. And if you want it, can always get it from your Incarnate selections.
  25. I wanted LIONS not girly pussycat lionesses for Beast Mastery. Now I see why I didn't get them because they were saving the lions for freaking COMPANION PETS?!?!?!

    SO MAD!
