AT and Secondary for Staff Fighting

Hey Guys,

Can anyone recommend an AT and secondary that would complement staff fighting well?

Anyone been playing on a beta that they would recommend?

I would do Staff/Dark on a Brute. You could cap all positions on defense (i believe) and still have all of Dark's amazing powers, plus you would have fury with a damage aura.

I would also do Staff/Ice on a Stalker. Better single target damage thanks to Assassin's Staff, plus /Ice has an incredibly well-rounded toolset. I already had Elec/Ice though, and STJ/SR, so I went with /Energy Aura for the same reason: it has several tools other than simply defense.

I've been playing a Staff/Invul Brute and she's been holding up pretty well.

Staff/Dark brute has been great to me so far. The endredux form has made Dark Armor a joy to level with.

I went with Staff/Super Reflexes for a few reasons.

1) I don't have an SR character.
2) I had a great concept for a male character loosely inspired by Cheetara from the Thundercats.
3) I felt super speed would make sense with an SR character and I have never used super speed before.

Star Lighter - LB/LA Peacebringer Lv 30

So far I have 3 staff characters:

1) Staff/DA brute, created because I have wanted to work up a DA brute for ages but I kept bogging down in the mid/late 20's when you have to many toggles/powers and not enough slots for end reduction. I am planning on running in the end reduction form until I feel comfortable with the end slotting/end recovery IO's I have slotted, then I can switch to recharge or damage depending on my mood
2) Staff/EA scrapper. At low levels, before you get energize or energy drain EA can be a bit of an end hog, especially with the recharge you get from entropic aura. So the end reduction staff mastery is a perfect balance here until you get to 28+ and have energize (or at least have your attacks slotted decently for end reduction).
3) Staff/Ninjitsu stalker - I wanted to try stalker staff and the only concept I could come up with fit ninjitsu best.

Staff/Electric
Staff/EA
Staff/Ice

Despite Staff's average performance it's incredibly well-rounded so it works with pretty much just about damn near everything.

The Forms alone help out a ton.

Having reached 22 last night on my Staff/Willpower scrapper and slotted SOs, I took to charging at groups in missions as quickly as I could, not pausing to rest, to see what it would take to overload the character.

The combination is amazingly robust.

Staff/Dark Armor seems like it would have amazing synergy. Dark Armor is endurance hungry, and Staff's Form of the Soul makes endurance a no issue.

Scrapper or Brute, so take your pick between higher offense and better defense.

Pinny - Scrapper
Shadewing - Defender

Just started iTrials with my Staff/Elec Brute after fully IO'ing him starting at 42. I just hit 50 with my TW/Elec Brute last weekend so have that as a fresh comparison.

The difference in kill speed between the two is marginal once you factor in all the animations for Staff. Both are ridiculously survivable. The END recovery in /Elec is a godsend from 40-50 when things just take longer to kill. AV's I've solo'd in Portal Jockey arc (just finished Diabolique prior to posting this) have seemed to be a bit more resistant to Staff attacks than they were to TW. Not sure if that's just my imagination or accurate.

I hadn't tried /Elec prior to TW and only did so because I sort of noticed it as FOTM for awhile there. You get the damage/taunt aura of /Fire but a very strong defensive base for softcapping M/S/L via IO set bonuses. I may fool around a little more with primary slotting as Staff seems to accept a few more sets than did TW. But otherwise...similar.

I really don't find the Forms all that differentiating at the higher levels.

This interests me greatly. I've gotten a good handle on building typed defense, but I haven't tinkered much with building for positional. If anyone sees a positional staff/dark brute build around please link it or pm me or something would ya? I'd be very interested in taking a look at it since my staff/dark is 39 now and I'm having a lot of fun with him.

At the moment, all i've got is a staff/sr scrapper, and so far enjoying it quite a bit more than i expected. I'll probably get around to making a staff/elec brute (most likely yet another variation of my namesake) and a staff/nin stalker. I've never gotten very far with /sr or /nin...so i'm interested to see how these two will go.

I have a 37 Staff Elec and he can be really end heavy even with the end form. Well, really I have to remind myself to switch back to it since its the main form I use. Gotta say I am really loving the combo. Its concept based but I still have the usual Tough n Weave. I just wish the damage was a bit higher and there was a power where you throw the weapon.

What I need help on is getting more than 30 percent in IO Def for melee range and AoE. I have never used elec aura before so hopefully I can without sacrificing too much.
