[Poison.Venomous Gas] on a FIRE/poison corr. worth taking?
49 views and no replies? has no one gotten a /poison corr leveled up yet? :P
Virtue: Sistah Powah, Afrodizziac, NeutronBlonde,Distortionist,IonMaiden,BlindFaith,M adwoman, Vital Signs,Yzzorrdrex,Diesel Mage, Defend, Glasshouse,Rescue I, Bootytrap, The Experience, AE Virus, Drawback, Daytime, Nighttime, Chamberwraith, Invincible Ink, Monster Mitts, Hex Object, Hexperiment, Frightningbolt, Spooky Deville, Scream Weaver, Cackler, Shocktopus, Ogrekill,Road Hazard,Fahrenhate,Duotherm,Black Lung, Horrorculturalist,Foulmouth,
its one of the least liked buff/debuff sets
i have a psi/poison corr atm, although i am prolly gonna delete it, i have to agree that poison is not very good on a corr, on a troller it has better synergy with more of the sets
End Reducers and To Hit Debuffs (3 of each if you can)
MA Arcs
Part 1: "Get Max" #41646
Part 2: "Birth of a Super Group" #58817
Part 3: "Mecha Mania" #111009
Part 4: "Worst of Elements" #134592
Part 5: "Payback" #169058
So what is the issue with /poison exactly? debuffs not up to par w/ other corr secondaries? I have been enjoying the set, at least thematically. It seems to debuff enemies just fine, my survivability rate is increasing from lower levels. I know if it were on a defender it's be better, and I'm tired of trollers (i have way too many)

the main issues with poison is the debuffs arent very strong compared to others and they do not stack
the poison trap is better than it used to be but its still pretty worthless
if you dont team theres at least 3 more powers taking up space
so that leaves you with a single target hold, and a fairly decent end hogging debuff toggle that requires you to be in melee range
Well, I always team with her, and she's a lot of fun so i'll keep her. maybe someday they'll fix the powers

poison is good for pvp but i would rather a trapper or cold or rad for pve

So assuming one WAS going to take /poison on a corruptor, what's the strategy with it? Stay at range and use those debuffs, going in with poison trap against harder targets? Or mainly focusing on the melee debuffs once you get them, using the ranged debuffs to add additional effects as you can? And particular IOs that can really help the set perform better?

with fire i would prolly still use the normal attack chain, fire blast fire ball blaze with a rain of fire thrown in there
the poison poison trap is still pretty useless and is the redheaded stepchild of the traps poison trap, all it does is -100% recovery and a very rare chance to hold and it does some minor dmg i believe
If you team up a lot, or buddy up with an MM,then /Poison is more useful. In fact, on an MM, Poison is powerful because it's not like they do much else when henchmen are summoned and equipped/upgraded.
On a Corr or really any AT that requires constant use of the primary, I can absolutely see why Poison is a poor choice even with the numbers, it's simply too active, demanding, and an end hog outside of MMs.
Not to mention that outside a couple powers, Poison is really a single target set, and that doesn't complement Fire much at all.

Well it depends on what you want to do but I think that the sets shines if you focus on melee or if you are willing to fade in and out of melee.
Believe it or not /Poison Trap is the best power in the set and with purples it can melt mobs easily. In fact I can Take out an entire mob with just Poison Trap ALONE...the trick is living long enough lol.
So ok, I tend to play Poison like Traps actually. Here's how I play with my toon.
- Lay down 2-3 poison traps...the tougher the mob the more traps.
- Pull the mob to you...my favorite way of doing so is hitting them with Weaken.
- run around the corner and wait and chew on some purples or oranges if you have some to spare...also turn on VG
- Once they hit the Traps they will pretty much come to a halt for a few seconds. Jump in, debuff at will, and start blasting.
- Remember to lay down Poison Trap whenever it's up since it provides decent mitigation and insane damage.
The biggest problem with /Poison is that on a Corr it's down right painful...and you only truly see the benefits of the set once you get enough Defense or once you pick up ageless.
What I slot Poison Trap with-The rest of poison is pretty easy to proc but With Poison Trap...I have found out that Purple is better lol...the power might become even more deadly once we get the Proc change but for now the way things works it's in your best interest to stuff it with proc goodness!
- Lockdown: Change for +2 Mag Hold- This is a must for obvious reasons...the more traps out the more chances of them all being held.
- Fury of the Gladiator: Chance for Res Debuff- Another must if you have deep enough pockets. Add this to the Achilies Heel Proc and your toon will easily be able to dish out -100% + Res on foes...if they survive long enough.
- Superior Malice of the Corruptor: Recharge/Chance for Negative Energy Damage- It's super cheap to turn this into a purple and it's a PPM Enhancements so it has a greater chances of firing ect blah blah.
- Unbreakable Constraint: Chance of smashing Damage- Smashing dmg is gross but 107.1 dmg procing a few times ain't bad!
- Armageddon: Chance of Fire Damage-Fire dmg! Awesome woot!
- Add whatever... would you like..ACC? Recharge?...my toon is 53 so he's covered...i think i had 1 acc and 1 recharge in there when I was leveling.
Remember, /Poison isn't for everyone and it doesn't really shine until you get ageless and some great defense (Kind of like a Fire/Earth Dom or a Fire/Kin Controller) but if you are willing to torture yourself repeatedly then this is the set for you!
I hope this helps guys and let me know if you can even understand what I just typed...I admit my spelling sucks and I am mildly insane lol.
I'm just hoping that /Poison will work decently with Water Blast. Debuff them and then hit them with water 'til they die. May not be the absolute best powerset combo, but has great concept synergy.

Could I ask your opinion on one point? My build went with five Unbreakable Constraints in Poison Trap because I am a huge recharge junkie and wanted the 10% recharge bonus - but as my corr is only 28 I havent tried it yet. Would you say that filling poison trap with procs will get me more mileage than Unbreakbables? Baring in mind that the ONLY reason I went with unbreakable is because I want that recharge!
That's what I'm hoping! Got a good name, great costume, and good backstory. Just hoping the combo isn't terribad.

Tater I am glad you posted this because I have a DP/Poison who is perhaps the most "challenging" toon I've ever made. She is so "challenging" that I am determined to get her to 50 and make her Uber. After reading everyone elses critique about poison in general i was feeling a touch downhearted however your post made me feel better!

Well, I would focus on getting your recharge from other sources i.e. slotting other powers with purples. Poison Trap is very important (and deadly!!) and you want it to be able to perform at its utmost ability. Nothing is wrong with throwing in a Recharge IO in there but you want to stuff it with procs so it can work its magic...more procs will easily out perform more recharge...especially since at the recharge cap there wouldn't be much of a difference...and even when you are not at the recharge cap if you have 2-3 traps out at once that means that you will have more chances for the other procs to fire like Mag +2 Hold, 170+ pts of fire dmg and -30 res!
If it bothers you that much though slot it with a complete set pre-50 but make sure to add an extra proc in there for more damage.
4 slot Dark Watcher's Despair - TH/End; Rch/End; TH/Rch/End; TH

*Holds up hand to high five Aett*
I was thinking about going Water Blast / Poison too.
Someone mentioned that the debuffs do not stack. Powers do not stack with themselves? Or other powers within the set?

thats the part that sucks about poison, the debuffs are very minor to begin with
if you hit a baddy with it, it does -30% def and resist and you cant stack it again unless you happen to get the splash on them for additional -15% debuff, the debuff itself only lasts for 30 sec too so its really hard to judge when its worn off

My main is a /poison mastermind and I really want to enjoy the set, but honestly it comes with a lot downsides. I feel like the best power in the whole set is the AoE cone slow and that doesn't say much. Venomous gas is hard to use for ranged MM's so I imagine it's got similar difficulties for Corruptors. It should really be a targeted toggle for both AT's as having to get up in the middle of everything on a primarily ranged character is never optimal.
Toxic Eel - Robot/Poison MM
Neurotoxic Breath would be super cool if it had more range and if it proc'd more.

If so, how should it be slotted?
