Controllers vs trials
not sure anything can hold the escapees I have tried with different controllers with no luck so move on to secondaries and do the best I can
Prof Radburn controller,Celtic Ice Maiden, blaster,Miss Knockout scrapper,Mistress Davina controller,Stone Hart, tank Split Personality PB.Queen Lostris controller,Fridgid Mary blaster,Shocking Fire blaster Future Elfling defender, Little Weed controller,Capo Angelo MM, Commander Buzzsaw MM, Justice Tank tank all 50,s
I don't know what level of protection they have. A perma-dom might manage it (I routinely stack up to mag 24-30 vs EB's out of paranoia), but depending on how much they have it may be impractical for a Controller to try to stack enough hold to stop them. It's also noteworthy that many of them are not immune to knockdown/knockback, so you should try all of your tools rather than just the ones you rely on normally. I've never run BAF on anything but a Brute and a Corruptor, so I can't verify any other controls, but knockback works just fine.
Why do you worry about Controllers AoE hold accuracy? You should be slotting an IO set in there anyways, which gives enough accuracy to hit vs even con mobs with everything. If you need more, slot for more. Odds are you'll be carrying another 24-40% accuracy from set bonuses, plus tactics on team content. If you still need more, munch yellows.
It's a strange day when someone feels that Controllers are lacking. Best team friendly archetype in the game.
The LTs are uncontrollable. Period. Don't bother yourself trying. They're not your job. The minions are, leaving the heavy hitters to the LTs.
The feeling of weakness you have on an incarnate trial is called being on an incarnate trial.
Minions in BAF are supposed to be controllable. However, the problem is that the DPS folks go after them, too, letting the LTs slide by.
Another issue in the BAF is that all of Siege and Nightstar's backup forces are Bosses. So not only do you need help holding them, but Controller AoE damage being what it is, you're not gonna be taking them out yourself, either.
On top of that, all AVs in trials are 100% unmezzable. The Devs threw us a bone and allowed us to do containment damage on AVs that -should- be mezzed (due to mag stacking), but since they're still moving around and attacking folks, it's small comfort.
It is, unfortunately, very hard to design content to appease to as wide of a selection of power combinations as this game has. For instance, imagine a type of critter that does not take damage until it is held. Sounds like a great chance for Controllers and Doms to shine, right? Maybe; however, what if, on some random league, they HAD no control options (Say someone wanted to do an all Blaster or all Scrapper league)? This is very rarely a problem. In fact, this is how the Green Mitos in the Hamidon raid work, and I've never heard any complaints. Unfortunately, it has the negative stigma that you NEED certain powers or ATs to complete a task, which is the one thing the Devs try to avoid. So while No control might be a silly concept, what if there's only 2 or 3 controllers/doms on a league of 24? I've seen it happen, and such a league might find itself unable to complete a task due to lack of control...
Of course, because of that, everything is damage, damage, and MOAR DAMAGE, which stigmitizes pretty much everything that ISN'T a high damage dealer. At least we have buffs and debuffs, though that's somewhat mitigated by Destiny powers and enemies with super high debuff resistance.
Perhaps the devs should look into adaptive content which picks enemies based on team layout. More controllers? More mez-only foes. More scrappers and blasters? More enemies with high HP. More tanks and brutes? More enemies with high damage output.
Sorry, got to rambling there =)

Allied to all sides so that no matter what, I'll come out on top!
Oh, and Crimson demands you play this arc-> Twisted Knives (MA Arc #397769)
I use my trollers of BAF's all the time. It gets progressively easier as you receive level shifts. By the time you are +3, you should have no problem holding down a door solo.
The development team and this community deserved better than this from NC Soft. Best wishes on your search.
Like someone else said... no holding on them, no knock back no anything but damage. Your job as a controller is to get as much damage in period. If you can de-buff them or buff teammates you can do that as well. I play on ALL my different controllers and I just unleash all kinds of chaos till my blue bar is no more.

Actually knockback and knockdown work fine. Freezing Rain is one of the best powers on the escapes on BAF.

Now with my ice/kin, I just let Jack go wild and make sure I got my buffs going on my teammates during the prisoner escape. But then, when we're back on the AVs and Friends I'm back smiling again.
So you shouldn't judge how good a toon with just a single event/battle within a mission. Hell, I hate playing my shield tank on a BAF since I rarely play melee toons, so I get annoyed with chasing folks around.

Don't you know that discussion of power selection/slotting can ONLY be based on hearsay, rumor, idle speculation, and bald-faced lies??!? ~Elf_Sniper
Multiple bonfires work pretty good now too. Last time my fire/storm did a BAF, we had five going in front of the center door.

can use + mag procs too...make a big difference if they fire and you're stacking magnitude of hold on LTs. I like the lockdown proc in the AoE hold...also like the devastation proc in blast powers...My Fire/Psi permadom stacks mag like crazy...

ULTIMATE REGEN GUIDE I22
My understanding of the BAF has always been that there is a division of labor between the ATs. Controllers and doms hold the minions at the choke points, while blasters and their kind blow them all up, and melee classes chase after the commandos as their first priority. It is kind of a necessity to have enemies immune to mezz in that kind of phase, since not having enemies immune to mezz would result in the whole phase being soloable by a single player with caltrops or ice slick or something like that. Even with the adds all being bosses in the BAF, a troller or two can still hold most of not all of them off.
Regardless I do not feel underpowered on my ice/storm troller going through the trials. I do, however, also relegate my troller to different roles on those trials than I do many of my other characters. Play to their strengths, and support guys doing the main objectives instead of just doing the main objectives (for all those objectives a troller can't do).

I've felt a little bit once I hit higher levels on a troller, I feel less effective, and I was kinda sad about it. Heck my empathy/energy defender felt pretty useless because people didn't seem to need much healing and my damage was a joke.
But its also partly because I can feel near-godly at times during regular game stuff. Having a fully effective controller on trials would render them pretty laughable. So you just have to rely more on the rest of you team at times and accept you can't be effective in every situation. I think the type of controller you are makes a difference in how limited your options can be at times.

So I think it's just me but wonder if there is anyone else out there that feels the way I do. So does anyone else feel that controllers on trials are a bit weak. Like on BAF escapee part we can't hold leuts which I understand why. On other parts in BAF or on other trials the standard rule should apply. A single target hold applies two times on a boss should hold them. I am finding that that's not the case. In fact I can't seem to lock down much of anything. I know trials are ment to be more extreme, but controller should control. Over anything else in my opinion. So is it me or does anyone else feel this way. P.S. I am currently playing a gravity/dark controller. Also, I really think that controller AOE mez powers need to be brough up to there 1.00% acc. The way the game is evolving I think so should the controller main powers.
Side note. The Hybrid Control - chance for a +1 mag on hold
From the sound of it. I was like sweet. After trying it. I am like blah
While the toggle is on they should have gave a +1 mag on all control 100% of the time. There should have been a passive mez protection not resistance.
Again this is just how I feel.
I have been a long time player of COH but don't like when an AT that is called controller, but can't control.
