I think part of what feels off about Energy Melee is that it tends to feel like the same power 7 times in a row with different damage and animations. It's all just Energy Damage, Smashing Damage, and a Stun. No debuffs, no buffs, no soft controls, no other hard controls, etc.
Battle Axe, Energy Blast, and Electrical Blast all kind of suffer from a similar problem.
If the devs are satisfied with it's damage and ST focus, and players want to avoid having a gimmick added (like Gravity's Impact), the solution could be as simple as adding additional effects, such as:
- -Resistance, Slow, or Immobilize to Bone Smasher (based on the name)
- +Defense or -ToHit to Whirling Hands
- AoE Knockdown to Total Focus (not damage, just KD in an AoE around the target)
- -Defense or -Resistance to Stun
- -Regen on the target or Cone Knockdown (again, not damage, just KD in a cone)
Or whatever, other similar kinds of additional effects that would increase what Energy Melee can offer without directly touching it's damage formulas.
Yes a lot of the older powers should be looked at and what not but I think that adding something like a "charge or buildup" chance to jump ability to electric and updating the graphics will make players like me want to play them again. Just my two cents; I believe gimmicks make powers more unique. Do they solve everything NO Do they make you want to play and buy them YES. -

Multiple bonfires work pretty good now too. Last time my fire/storm did a BAF, we had five going in front of the center door.
Now with my ice/kin, I just let Jack go wild and make sure I got my buffs going on my teammates during the prisoner escape. But then, when we're back on the AVs and Friends I'm back smiling again.
So you shouldn't judge how good a toon with just a single event/battle within a mission. Hell, I hate playing my shield tank on a BAF since I rarely play melee toons, so I get annoyed with chasing folks around.

Like someone else said... no holding on them, no knock back no anything but damage. Your job as a controller is to get as much damage in period. If you can de-buff them or buff teammates you can do that as well. I play on ALL my different controllers and I just unleash all kinds of chaos till my blue bar is no more.

I notice as I play Im 34 now that Steam Spray cone power is a skip for me. I dont play at melee range with my /storm so the cone doesnt seem to be used to it full potential. Now if your play style or secondary calls for something more up close and personal the power could def work. I have been slotting for damage and end seems to be working well so far. Lunatic Ferror is the name if you want to pm me in game and see how he is; Hoping to get to 50 by the weekend.

When you see someone with a Ferrari, or a fur coat, or a new cell phone, do you have the same negative reaction? Because, as much as people say, "It's different, it's only a game!", this access to Closed Beta is a Real Life benefit, for the PLAYER, not a benefit for your CoX character.
So really, can everyone just BE MORE PATIENT? Like, NOW??!??!?
