I regret not getting involved with a big SG/coalition until earlier this year. All these years I just stuck with my small group of friends and more recently, just me and one other person.
I also regret not getting involved with RP on Virtue more often. I'm not even interested in RPing in most other MMOs, where every character is made from the same cookie cutter. -
Definitely Master Illusionists. They just slow everything down with all those pets and their phase shifting. It gets a little difficult to even see if they're tangible or not with all their glowing summoned jerks floating about everywhere

Still loads of people here on Virtue

Maybe we'll play TF2, Torchlight 2, Borderlands 2 together
When I'm done with this RO binge :L
Go on, I wont bite unless you want me to. -
You'd see a very noticeable increase in survival if you replaced 4 of those Crushing Impacts in every power with Kinetic Combats, but you'll also notice the price increase by a lot as well. It may seem insignificant, with already high s/l resist numbers, but remember that other types of damage are usually bundled with s/l as well.
If you can find the slots to move around, you can 4 slot your resist powers with reactive armor to give your s/l a further boost, as well as help your defense toward pure energy and negative.
You might also want to move the miracle proc to Health so that it's always on and frankenslot Dull Pain so you can maximize your slots elsewhere, like potentially six slotting Rage for maximum uptime and to more than make up for the loss of accuracy from using the lower leveled Kinetic Combats. With invincibility, you'll be way over 95% chance to hit anyway, or so I find on my SS/inv brute 98% of the time. Focused Accuracy will be beating a dead horse. If you can find yourself on villain side in the future, you'll get a lot of damage per second out of Gloom from Soul Mastery.
Physical Perfection is another power you might find would be worth gutting for slots. At half the strength of Health and Stamina, I find it worth only slotting for Recovery, and even then only one or two. At the very least, move the extra slots you have for the health regen to Health so you get more out of them. -
Quote:That's a good choice, Phantasm sees more uptime than Phantom Army, at least until you've got the recharge down.Phantasm maybe? Solo I've never considered his kb too much of a concern, but teams can get annoyed.
Frag Grenade for Soldiers, Banes have a few Mace attacks, including 2 aoes, that do kb. I'm not sure which would be the "best".
Definitely frag grenade. For the bane the mace beams do random knockback which is also annoying, but they're so slow and low damage anyway that you're better off not using it to begin with. -
Welcome to the forums, Ephixa!
I have this exact type of scrapper, and I should tell you right now that it's a pain in the *** to level all the way through. If it's not a blue inspiration, convert it into one until you have energy drain.
But at level 50, it's my favorite hero by a wide margin. The future is looking up!
One thing you should know about your resistances is that while they are low, their impact is less when you soft cap your defense to more damage types.
Right now you're just shy of the soft cap to fire and cold (hitting one enemy with Energy Drain will patch that right up, though I'm not entirely sure how significant that 0.1% difference will be), and a fair distance under the soft cap for Smashing, Lethal, Energy, Negative, and Psionic. You're more than okay on smashing with Defensive Sweep, but defensive sweep is awful and does nothing for the alpha blow.
We'll fix that. Among other things.
Rend Armor is your strongest single target attack, and you have it slotted with a defense debuff set which does nothing to enhance the damage.
Lemme just post my own build for you to look at first. It might seem out of your price range at first (it certainly is more expensive in some parts) but it has some advantages such as not having to slot Kick.

There's a number of expensive single IOs in this build. They include: Miracle, Numina's Convalescence, Steadfast Protection +3% Def, and 5 LOTG +Recharges. These are not critical to the build, so you do not need them immediately. You can set up the rest of the build then work towards them.
I see that you are a VIP. I'm not sure if VIPs get access to the alignment system, but if not the Going Rogue expansion is probably $5 on Amazon and comes with a free month, cheaper than actually buying your next month of VIPness. Just reinforce your alignment as a hero or villain then run hero tips and SSAs until you get enough merits to buy those.
The ATOs are a different story. The scrapper ones are definitely more expensive. There's other ways to get those too without farming for influence, but you can use the marketing forum to explore your options.
What's important about this build is that I am softcapped to fire/ice/smashing/lethal/energy all the time. Could possibly sacrifice some offense and a large chunk of change for soft capped negative, but even running at +4x8 in Dark Astoria (though there's other crap being flung about besides Negative Energy there) I have only few problems.
You might notice Overload missing. I'd try it before you buy it. The crash at the end is devastating, and being softcapped to most everything a lot of the time makes it less useful to begin with.
You might also notice that I have Confront. It's not a popular choice for Scrappers, I admit that. The taunt set provides nice bonuses, and is also pretty darn cheap. I actually find myself using Confront more often than I thought I would, but I can understand why a lot of people wouldn't like it. That should be testament to how survivable the build I posted is, though.
I hope this helped and I have more advice (I LOVE this powerset combination) but my medicine is trying to put me to sleep and I can barely keep my eyes open, I'll return tomorrow
oh and one thing to note before i forget: with the stealth IO in sprint and energy cloak, you have perfect stealth to enemies that don't have higher than normal perception, but you still have to turn off entropic aura because even while invisible it slows nearby enemy's recharge to buff your own and that's counter-intuitive for trying to be sneaky -

I think I'm happy with this build. I've always wanted to mess around with Afterburner and there's no slots in powers I won't be using. Endurance might be a problem but eh, I'll deal with it.
Empty slot in Blazing Aura is for a healing enhancement when it becomes Cauterizing Flames. I might put my last slot in there too for the same reason. Until then, I'll just throw whatever's useful in there.
The hecatomb proc and PVP IO seem a bit odd considering the price point of the rest of the build where it is now, but I already have those sitting around in my base so I figured I'd use them.
Looks like enhanced build up will trigger the 22% snipe threshold combined with kismet, too. That's neat.
Thanks a lot for your help, Rodion. -
2/8 and 2/6 is probably referring to difficulty. Enemies two levels higher, set for a team equal to 8 players in size or 6 players.
Support classes are still needed and welcome. Not everyone can or cares to get their hero to the defense soft cap, and even when they do the soft cap for incarnate-level content is much higher and much harder to achieve on your own. And even without playing incarnate-level content, being softcapped alone doesn't make fighting +4 enemies quick and easy like stacking defense debuffs, resist debuffs, damage buffs, etc do.
And yeah, the LFG queueing tool is pretty awful. You'll find that there's a new /lfg chat channel now (might need to add it to your chat tabs) that players form their teams in before entering the queue with the full team. -
Would it be able to be slotted into Bonfire? And would the bonfire pet inherit the KB-->KD effect?
-
I've revised my build. Since I'd need outside buffs to reach the tohit threshold for instant snipes anyway, I might as well leave the leadership toggles to those who are not running two damage auras.

Code:Much more reasonable on endurance this time around! Lots of throwaway one slot wonders, though. Also, two slots to play with. Might place one or both in Blazing Aura since it will accept healing in the future. Then the other in build up or aim. Or maybe Numina's for health, or a chance for end proc in stamina. I'm also not too happy about slotting combat jumping. I think if I were to take stealth earlier and actually have it toggled on, I would be over the softcap without any additional slots in CJ. That's another .32 end/s though, unless I want to use one of my slots on it to reduce that or not use the lotg +rech for an end reducer instead.
How do I use enhancement boosters in mids? I'd like to try boosting the defense enhancements in weave and scorpion shield to see if that nets me enough. If so, I can drop the slots from Combat Jumping. I use the boosters I have pretty sparingly, and this would be a perfect opportunity to use them. -
I'd love to pair this with water blasting, but I doubt they'll come out at the same time and I doubt I'll have the willpower to wait for them both.
Oh well, two water blasters are better than one. -
Greetings, City of Heroes forums. With news of the blaster changes on the horizon, I decided reroll my fire/mental blaster into a fire/fire.
I really want to be in the heat (tee hee) of things this time so I have the fire swords slotted out and both pbaoe damage auras. I had a bit of difficulty with soft capping a few things but in the end I settled on just having s/l softcapped. In your opinion, do you think that only having s/l softcapped is too restrictive?
What's neat about this is that it has tactics and kismet and slotted out snipe. Though tactics and kismet in this form alone aren't enough to make snipe instant in the next issue (and even the criteria for instant firing snipes are subject to change before they even hit the live servers a long time from now) it does reduce the amount of outside team buffs I would need and also pushes me within one small yellow of the threshold.
I also tried to squeeze out a bunch of recharge bonuses wherever I could because why not?

Code:As you can see, this is kind of really expensive. My blaster is still under level 30, so I'll be gradually collecting all of these as I get to them and I probably can afford it. But still, it's probably one of the most expensive builds I've personally undertaken. I got one set of (though admittedly, max level) kinetic combats for my fire sword earlier today and those four pieces alone cost me a significant chunk of what I usually spend on my complete builds for other heroes (that usually make use of cheaper sets).| Copy & Paste this data into Mids' Hero Designer to view the build | |-------------------------------------------------------------------| |MxDz;1457;656;1312;HEX;| |78DA65935B4F135110C7CFB65BCAA5A52DA537AEBD80C582A50DBE6B8A40626852A| |9EF6453D6764DD3AE6D114163E207501F55504CFC00BEA8D1C44FE0F59B282A8F88| |75BAF3DF42D893767FBB73E67F66CE9C39F93B575CAF571E5C12927BB1AA349BEB3| |97AB6D48623AF94B592A0E1CBD56B37B4861ACD29B5664555A30B4EB246E0B7BEA6| |D4CAEA467A993C581B33678A9BBA5E6FB4782AAFD4347DB3AAB4B47A4DB80BF57A9| |5ECE54A4BAB95FB8DAFA2AEAA1B1EE375555536D446B3A2E92EF35B27BFC892AE95| |D2E6EA79A5D459B5F3BE1DA684A6E97F5998A32D8B2784A42C6C4FC1674C7917DC6| |3DE3ED1384C4D0F34BDD0F442D3BF675212222B8B1C7D4AD04A6F8461EB99658EBC| |658EBD03DF33273E30B7087668ED05425C1683D799DE35B0C81C5259337493B9487| |0609F0EC475219E0BF106CFC493E8D49CACB13B116FF81A887841C4DB26F421B7BE| |239BA13FF7173C06FF31936DB0B31BE212A906582B06500B3B0576B34D7287A962E| |3B28886983B64F5C0DF03FFE54EDB21BE6FD76ED43CB6073E075F3013FB1C37F192| |7997547E89F7E96FF17A53B7C02DE6DC0E53A6BC02F00D04F84C83133C1706B3C7C| |2C8334EBE21E419429E2B9D8B803C239FD896FCCC3CFF05FC0A7E63A6BE33EF1146| |8DEE69DB461F720D2F3C62661F337D14739CF3B38D23BF09E41505FDE433C93ED2E| |42BD645F799475E3A4EE8E3D027A09B02EF77EE0E6A308D7AA550AFD4997A0D53AC| |19D46006EB7DA4839A455FCD1E70DCB9DFD8CF21F88769237D1ABE69F4E03C7A701| |E3D388F1E0C926F86F31219C41A93BB77957E34444C36AF60BB9DB2CC662C96ACC5| |B260B15CB458562D9682DCBDF942322C7DDEEE7D6EFFE8A759E9F4ECC169CB55C9E| |8DC9F16AF5F27169B14451F8223E07FE8A7EC2F| |-------------------------------------------------------------------|
But I don't particularly mind the cost too much. In fact, I would be open to spending more. I just have a few concerns:
-Do you think my approach to defense, only softcapping s/l, will allow me to survive in melee range at the higher levels at all?
-On a scale of 1 to ouch, how much is my endurance bar going to be murdered by running these toggles while attacking?
-Do you think there is a cheaper way to get the same or better performance by changing the slots/powers around?
-I have one slot left over. Where do you think it would fit best? -
Quote:While better, there would still be one number to build for at which point the snipe is better than your alternatives for your attack chain.I wonder if it possible to have the interrupt time decrease as you get more to-hit? Like if the interrupt time is 3 seconds base...and you get 11% to-hit on you, if they could have the interrupt reduce to 1.5 seconds. Basically it goes away by 22% but even if you can only get to 20%, you'll get it down to a fraction of a second interrupt.
-
I almost parked myself in Cimerora 10 minutes ago before I discovered the magic of time zones.
-
Right now AS is a good contender for it for a few reasons.
-The proc chance is based off the base recharge, and AS' base recharge is high enough for the proc to occur 100% of the time (as long as you don't have the buff from the last time it procced on you, still.)
-Being hidden can interrupt your attack chain in combat when using AS, now that AS has a potent, quick, non-hidden state. But it won't matter if you put it in AS itself. -
Quote:In my limited experience with this (It's pretty difficult to notice two people throwing grenades at the same time with everything else going on around Marauder, not to mention pretty difficult to use it at the same exact time in the first place) if this happens it will stack in a way that Marauder's next enrage will be deactivated as well.Technically, it may be possible to waste them if two people both activated their grenades at the exact same microsecond, but the chances of that happening are pretty minuscule (if it's even possible at all).
The notice to throw a grenade still comes up on the next one, but you can't throw a grenade and in a few seconds the notice saying he's pacified shows up. -
Two things:
The commands you're dragging are literally macros with fancy icons. You can even right click them to see the macro command and edit it.
You probably need to turn on advanced pet commands. The option to do so should be somewhere right on the pet window if I remember right. -
There was a time when you could waste grenades, but that was really early on when Lambda was new.
As for why people might do this now, I cannot say. There really is little reason and in most cases you're setting yourself up to make it worse if the person holding them all dies or DCs. -
Quote:This limitation does exist. You can see a buff icon under your health bar showing that it's still too early.Don't you run into the issue with that attack chain where the Stalker ATO won't hide you more than once every 10.25 seconds? I've got a thread on the Stalker forums trying to deal with that, but I'd be happy (and surprised) to lean that that limitation doesn't exist.
But even still, you're recharging build up way more often than anyone else in the game and AS hits like a truck.
