Nature Affinity First Look

Here ya go.

This is just a live, first impressions vid while looking at the set in the creator, for those who haven't checked it out for themselves. No doubt I make erroneous assumptions during it.

EDIT: Part two gameplay at 22. This isn't intended for anything outside of experimentation, and is not meant to show the strength of the set beyond initial SOs and all 3 of us were not trying to show skill.

Thanks for the insights!

I think you are right that the toggles appear to be fairly endurance heavy but also they have a lot of abilities with long recharges. I wonder how 'active' the set feels when played?

*wants my Plant/Nature Controller already!*

Well I'll tell ya one thing: seeing mushrooms infect a whole group of enemies made me lol.

The location-based toggle ticks far too slow for the end cost if you ask me. I've got mine up to level 20 at the moment.

That's a lot of busy visuals. For the most part I like it, but I wonder if there will be any options to tone it down a little bit.

Ooh I'm liking what I'm seeing.

Another set that benefits the caster as much as their allies, good stuff.

The toggles may look expensive, but since that Lifegiving Spores apparently buffs you as well as other people, it should, at the very least, mitigate its own End cost; and with End Mod slotted in, who knows, might mitigate them all? If that's a 1 END/Second buff it certainly would. (Not to mention the toggle costs are in-line with other sets such as Rad, so they aren't really pricey, there's just a lot of em)

In it's current state, Lifegiving Spores is an absolutely laughable end recovery tool.

It's 1end per tick and ticks once every FIVE seconds. So 0.2eps base.

Now, that would be pretty decent (not great, but OK)... except that it COSTS 0.52eps, a net end loss of 0.32end per second. That's right. Its end recovery doesn't even cover its end cost.

Even ED capped for both End Redux and End Mod it's a net gain of a mere 0.12 end per second.

I hope we get alternate animations or an option for to tone it down. All I could think about when I saw the set was "Smurf Village".

Between this set and the in game dog barking, my senses are being overloaded.

Other than that I'd like to echo the sentiment about the endurance being on the heavy side as well as the recharge of some of those powers being too long.

I do like the concept and LOVE that there is a toggle! I can't wait to try the set!

Who do I have to *&^% around here to get more Targeted AoE recipes added?

Arc Name: Tsoo In Love
Arc ID: 413575

Wow...I hope I never have to team with someone who has this set.

The visual FX are so far over the top.

Yeah I hope they buff it before it goes live. The heal is a joke too for the end cost.

Synapse has offered up the following improvements for LS:

1end/4s=0.25eps base recovery with a 0.26eps cost... so essentially free out of the box.

ED capped End Mod and End Redux makes it ~1.96end/4s (0.49eps) at a cost of ~0.13, netting an overall 0.36eps recovery.

I honestly view the heal aspect as inconsequential. The set has plenty of other healing available, this power is about endurance management for me, and I'm certainly liking this version better.

Yeah that's a good point, and you can toss end cost in there. I could still see 6 slotting it and putting a heal in it too.

Part of me is wishing the set had Earth Control-eqsue alternate animations that have different themes. Like Earth has crystal and lava alternate looks, I'd have loved this set to have had flower and fruit alternate looks.

Could you do a quick vid for BioArm too Jay?

That's a cool idea. SInce it does seem the main effects need toning down..the themes could help there. Have the flowers, fruit, maybe tropical plants.. Even a dead plant theme?

Nature Affinity looks nice, Might go with Demon/NA.

Note about part 2: That was me(Spines/Sym) and my bro you played with. Since you 'cut' the vid short of what i did, i'll say im sorry for the team wipe that happened, i was messing with bro and forgot about you till it was too late.

What happened was that he rushed forward and i headed right later on in the mission, i got a good laugh out of Bro(Lv6 or so, Staff/Sym) when he panicked when i told him to have fun with his mob.

Going to miss the fun and nice people here at CoH. Feel free to add me on PS3/XBox360

I'd love to pair this with water blasting, but I doubt they'll come out at the same time and I doubt I'll have the willpower to wait for them both.

Oh well, two water blasters are better than one.

What were the costume pieces being used there? The female toon had this wild looking arm piece and the spines toon had something going on when powers activated? Was that bio-armor and some effect off it?

Yep Sym(Bio) Armor have some odd looking FX but i like it, The Female toon(Staff) since was low level only had the 1st toggle (which covers the right arm) the 1st 3 or so Toggles will cover a diff part.

1st Right Arm
2nd Left Leg
3rd Left Arm, Chest, Right Leg.

Ever so often when you saw my Char "Sym Armor" where i turned into a "Blob" for about 1 or 2 secs thats the Click Regen/Absorption power.

Edit: I made a post that has the Screens(http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=291830) of said powers above.

Looks to be a bit of an end hog of a set, but I'll reserve judgement on that until I get to play it

The most interesting bit to me was Regrowth.

I'm not sure if anyone else has noticed, but it appears to be using the Vorpal Judgement targeting mechanism, in that it's a cone with a Target:self, so it'll fire wherever the camera's aimed...

That could make life... 'interesting' in more hectic environments.

Oh cool - I was hoping to get a full team going for a better grasp on things, but I grabbed what I could. I think we were all messing around a bit so no biggie.

The numbers are getting changed. Lifegiving Spores is going to cost 25% less endurance, for one thing.

And recharge is going down to 4 sec, plus the heal is getting buffed.
