  1. Ok, melee will get me a lot more exposure to KB. Yep, my bad. I'll just have to live with it and see how much worse it is. If it results in this toon being unplayable in regular content then that will have to be ok.

I am certainly not going to do a second serious build on a primary farming tool. This toon has a minimal roleplaying backround and is just not that important to me. But I will be re-ordering the powers and slots for some exemplar effectivness as I do need to exemp once for each TF in TFC, and will have to exemp for other stuff to get all four major Accolades.

Once again, the only time this tank would be used in regular content is on a team, always with a good mix of buffs, and Never in a traditional tank role. I can guarantee that as I would only be teaming with SG friends, no PUGs. I realize that inherent Gauntlet is going to get me extra aggro that can't be avoided. My only real concern is getting open and slotted Judgement and Interface if the tank is too fragile for Incarnate trials. Time will tell.

Since no one has suggested any kind of change to the basic power picks and set selections for the primary goal, I guess we're done. Thanks much all.

    Jak

PS: I have had one other toon that had to be coaxed through the Accolades and such with massive use of empowerment station buffs, so I am sure I'll be able to get what I need to max farming effectivness eventually.
  2. LSK,

I said "It is posted with Tough active, but for strictly Fire mobs I would turn that off for endurance management." That means that when Fire Farming I would NOT be using Tough. Also comparing Tough, a narrow S/L only Resistance power to Manuevers, a Team buffing Defense vs ALL power seems ... uh ... nevermind, can't really grasp that at all.

I run any number of Level 50 Hover Alt's (mostly Blasters and a Defender) with just the one +4 KB protection IO. They seldom have any KB issues. I figure you must be thinking of Incarnate content or some Lvl 50 missions I am not famiiar with. Anyway I am not going to sweat it on a tertiary goal.

Your statement that I don't really need Fire Defense since I have hard capped Fire Resistance is totally contradicted by my already extensive experience running these Fire tanks (I have three at lvl 50 so far across two accounts and on a second server on the primary.) Resistance only, even hard capped, will simply not get the job done in an ambush fire farm, or even if you are just aggroing mutiple spawns for speed in a non-ambush farm.

For S/L content, my third goal, when playing as a Scranker, this build does have 76.3% S/L resistance with Tough active. That exceeds the Scrapper Hard Cap. It does have 22.5% S/L Defense before Team Buffs.

I erred in not making clear that any play vs. other than Fire only damage would only be attempted in a Team situation. My apologies for failing to state that explicitly in the first post. I'll go back and edit it.

For grins I went ahead and created an effectively soft-capped version of the same build. Three purple sets and the 2nd 3% def unique get to 44.9% F/C.

  3. I'll wait to see that actual released set.

BUT, is this set ONLY going to be available by purchase, or is it also going to Drop, further diluting the chance to drop other stuff you might need a LOT more?

I have deleted so many Sniper set pieces I have a repetitive stress injury to my right click finger just from that.

  4. I hate to start a seperate Fire/Fire thread when the current one is so active, but this Tank is focused in such a different way I feel it does not fit into the Spadra thread.

This tank a +4 +8 Fire Farming tool that I also use to PL friends when asked. I also hope to be able to play it as a Scranker (no Taunt,) at even level [EDIT: On Teams only] in most Lvl 50 content. The current in-game build is mostly SO's (with the two Health +endurance uniques and a Steadfast 3%) and funtions fine as long as I make purples and a few blues. The main goal of the build is to make all Reds when farming and hopefully cut map times by 50%. It is not built to exemplar.

I attempted to build this tank with a soft capped Fire Defense and very good global recharge, but without Hasten, so that when complete it will have a consistent attack chain rythym and not have to worry about the Hasten endurance crash. I will be using a Tier 4 Cardiac Alpha (I already have a tier 3 in-game.) Please turn on Accolades and the one Incarnate slot when reviewing this build. It is posted with Tough active, but for strictly Fire mobs I would turn that [EDIT: Tough] off for endurance management.

In the end I settled for 40.3% Fire Defense, as I know from eating innumerable purples with my current in-game build, that 40% Fire Defense seems to be the magic number. Any small lack of defense should also be covered by the massive improvement in Healing Flames. This should allow me to start converting all insp. to Reds. Right now I also keep a few blues as backups to bridge between Consumes and to cover P-shifter Proc. gaps, but hope to be able to have a sustainable endurance supply after the respec to this.

I put the full set of Mocking Beratement in Consume, as that set has such a high recharge boost. I already discipline myself to use Consume only vs 4 or more mobs, often dragging the last two or three bosses to a fresh spawn.

I reluctantly changed the set in Burn from Scirocco's to an Obliterate because I felt that power in particular needed the much better Recharge value the Oblit. set provides and I wanted to hit the rule of 5 cap on +5% recharge bonuses. Also because Burn does double duty as both an AoE and a ST attack. I use all 4 AoE's. Combustion helps gather spawns with the large radius and comes up as a fill attack while the the heavy hitters recharge.

I find that having 4 ST attacks (counting Burn) helps a bunch when PL-ing friends as I have to deal with the bosses every so often.

Most builds seem to skip Temp. Protection, but I am using it as a set mule for a Steadfast 3% and a 3 slot Aegis. That let me hit the Rule of 5 cap on 3.13% Fire/Cold defense bonuses. The 4 Aegis 3 slots net 12.52% Fire defense with just 12 enhancers. All together there are 20.3% of Fire/Cold set bonuses and the the +3% All Steadfast. The other 17% is from the toggles.

    Caltrops?

I only recently got my first Alt with trops, a stalker. I am shooting for Two Slow/Rchg/End triples and a Positron proc. This should wind up on a toon with perma hasten and Mids seems to think i'll have a Rchg in the 13-15 sec avg. That shoud be triple stacked trops. Now I just need to open and craft Interface.

    Pre-Patch?

Well assuming we survive August 2nd as a functioning nation (applies to USA only of course,) on August 3rd we all get a new higher debt ceiling so that we have to be defeated 10 times in less than one hour before we have to work off any debt. The debt from the first 9 defeats just magically goes away.

We all will also get the right to borrow 2 Billion Inf per toon at super low rates to spend as we wish. That will help shore up the slumping marketeering economy, and let players like Fulmens and his Gang of 88 keep on Burning Inf.

To borrow, go to Pocket D to a new contact, The Crocodile Kangaroo (She has a Deep Pocket just stuffed full of inf, and is weeping big fat crocodile tears for our lack of inf plight). She will be located on top of the Vault door in the Vault Reserve area.

Or the pre patch-could be about something else, entirely,
but the Voices seldom lie to me.

    What the hell!

While I don't agree with Forbin, there is also another warning that no one has mentioned. The words such as Enhancements along the top of your powers tray, turns Red when your tray is full. Same for Salvage and Recipies.

The game SHOULD backstop you on errors such as claiming something you don't have room for. However, I have observed that most Perfect People, sometimes know as Saints, on in one case Jesus, don't actually get involved in the computer game coding profession on a regular basis. Such people seem to have more important things to do.

So expecting perfection as a norm from our Devs, or anybody else we do ordinary business with, is not going to add peace and harmony to our lives.

Expect incompetance and oversights and try to guard against them. The first time you are speeding along, clearing inventory, and sell a purple recipe to the store chick (Jak raises hand) on an ITF, you will get it. Go slow and think ahead, because there will NEVER be a day when this game has a Perfect Interface, and I do not expect to attain perfection myself anytime soon.

That said, this interface goof is a biggie and needs fixing. Thanks for posting your bad experience, OP, as a warning to us all. Hope the GM's recover your lost item asap.

    Old game codes

I did this when I first started. It was a great way to pick up the add on powers and costumes as well as get a month cheap. I learned the 'one time to the well only' part the hard way though, the first time I tried to use a code for a version I had already added.

But when my wife showed interest, that sucked up most of the extra boxes on our 2nd account.

The rest of the boxes (I only had 6 left-overs after 2nd account) now go to friends to help them start.

I keep a simple written list that shows each perk or box added, so I know what happened on each account. I keep it inside the master box for that account (ie: the box that started the account.)

Overall it only saved me a few dollars but every little bit helps.

    Bad news

LSK, please accept my deepest sympathies to you, and to your family.

Having lost my mother, and many other family members and friends, to cancer over the years (I am an older player), and being a cancer survivor myself, I understand exactly what you and yours are going through.

If this is the prognosis for a sudden discovery of an advanced cancer, rather than the final news about a long term, ongoing condition, you may wish to seek multiple opinions.

I realize, LSK, that it is presumptuous of me, as a stranger, to give any advice on so sensitive a topic. But knowing what I know now, and being certain that some of my friends and loved ones would still be with me if they had just not given up on hearing the word cancer, or had had the benefit of better advice in seeking advanced care, I am going to present you with some ideas which you may wish to share with your family. Without knowing your mother's age or other health issues, and considering that the total picture might preclude anything I have to offer being of any help, I hope you will take these thoughts in the spirit they are offered, and if things truly are beyond any hope, will forgive me for rehashing what you and your loved ones may have already done. I also realize that this might have been better said in a private message, but this information may help some others and I would like it to be available to them.

There are aggressive and experimental procedures out there that not every physician is aware of. Also many specialists, of necessity, to stay current in their own particular field, just don't have the time to be aware of all the breakthroughs in other forms of treatment. By this I mean that a Chemotherapy focused Oncologist may not be aware of the full potential of, for example, the Proton Beam treatment in the Radiation Oncology field. There were only a handful of those machines in the whole of the U. S. A. when I researched my cancer. While I did not wind up getting proton beam treatment, research into that therapy helped lead me to my eventual doctor and treatment option. To be blunt, surgeons will almost always offer a surgical solution as your best option, radiation guys offer radiation, and chemo docs will favor chemo, and a few will suggest a mix where that has already been found to be a superior Proven therapy.

My Urologist was sure my best option was surgery, since I was so young for a prostate cancer patient, even though I was already morbidly obese from other illnesses that had severely limited my ability to exercise. I would have been classed as a Very High risk patient if I had elected surgery. My research also showed that people with my weight issues had some definite long-term magnified chances for prostate cancer surgery specific complications, ie: diapers for life. Now, the flip side is that after surgical excision of the prostate there is NO chance that prostate cancer will come back, at least not in the prostate gland. Since I still have a prostate gland there is a risk. As a relatively young survivor I will face that risk for a much longer period, unless my others conditions kill me first, which formed a part of my choice to accept that risk and not have surgery. My point is you and your family must become highly informed about the specific condition you face to balance the various suggestions you will receive.

For some cancers there are Only experimental options and many doctors, for whatever reason, simply will not mention them even if they have heard of them. If your Only options ARE experimental and thus not covered by insurance, many experimental treatments have funding to assist people so as to get volunteers for that treatment. This can be a huge win-win for people Without insurance. And such programs are often restricted to only those with advanced cancers as they are the most in need. When I was looking for options, the Proton Beam therapy was like that. Even if I had chosen it I would have had a devil of a time getting any one to let me into their program as my cancer, though agressive, was detected very early.

I would suggest you visit the web sites of the premier Cancer Research hospitals and look for specific treatment programs for the cancer you need to fight. Be sure to look for both regular treatments and also those in the research stage. Some leading hospitals are:

    Memorial Sloan-Kettering: http://www.mskcc.org/mskcc/html/44.cfm

    Johns-Hopkins Hospital: http://hopkinsmedicine1.reachlocal.com

University of Texas, M. D. Anderson Cancer Center: http://www.mdanderson.org/
(My sister lives in the Houston area and my Mom, other family, and friends have stayed with her while undergoing treatment at M.D. Anderson, the #1 rated cancer treatment center from the list below, and the other hospitals of the worlds largest medical center - Texas Medical Center: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of...r_institutions)

    Dana-Farber Cancer Institute: http://www.dana-farber.org/

    Mayo Clinic: http://www.mayoclinic.org/

There are many others. This links to a recent list: http://health.usnews.com/best-hospitals/rankings/cancer

If you do happen upon a therapy you did not know about, the particular doctor you need, who is focused on treating the specific cancer you face, may not be at a hospital that is at the top of the list, or any listed hospital. For instance my Radiation Oncologist is associated with the Methodist Hospitals group here in Dallas, which is # 45 on the linked list.

I was extraordinarily lucky that Dr. Arve Gillette had just relocated to the Dallas area when I was first diagnosed with an aggressive prostate cancer. He happened to be the former Chairman and was/is now the Chairman Emeritus of the American College of Radiation Oncology, and one of his focuses was not only prostate cancer, but the specific treatment type I was interested in. I was blessed in that my cancer was detected early and I had the time to track this man down. I spoke to multiple doctors and hospital/nursing staff, and read two books on prostate cancer to reach the decision as to what treatment would give me the best chance to not only survive, but have a reasonable quality of life after treatment. I was only 52 when diagnosed, and my outcome was very good.

Some treatments are neccesarily devastating and that is a consideration that must enter into any decision, as I discussed above. I saw that devastation firsthand with my mother, who developed an immune system induced paresthesia when her body attacked her nerves when the cancer was no longer there to fight. But the extra 3 years she lived after treatment for advanced small cell lung cancer were terribly precious to our family.

LSK, here are a bunch of what I hope are other helpful tips, in no particular order.
    • I also suggest you visit the NIH (National Institute of Health) site for the particular type or family of types of cancer your Mom is facing.
    • Try to find any National organizations dedicated to that specific cancer. Ditto for support groups for that type of cancer.
    • Look at the various Medical Specialty organizations for the different cancer treatment disciplines such as the American College of Radiation Oncology I mentioned earlier, and other similar Boards and Colleges for chemo etc.
    • There are really new things happening that are perhaps not even catagorized yet. Stem cell work, genetically tailored chemo, there are treatments that involve freezing the tumor(s) and more. I am no longer current on all this stuff, being cancer free for now, but information will be out there if you dig.
    • City-wide and State-wide magazine polls and/or Doctor voted lists of Top Docs, Best Doctors, etc. They are certainly not entirely objective but my wife and I have both found them useful. Both having faced multiple major illnesses, and after getting stuck with a couple of what I can only charitably describe as duds early on with simple referrals, we now ALWAYS look for consensus local champs when seeking a Second Opinion or choosing a Specialists to interview. Ask everyone you can for first-hand experience of any doctor that you find that way. It may surprise you how many people have a friend or family member that sees that doc. And I do mean interview. As the patient my wife and I take the attitude that WE have the power, and you should too. We don't flaunt it but we go in to see a new doctor with a critical eye. We always go together to a new doctor or specialist, too.
    • When sizing up a new doctor, pay particular attention to his staff. A kickass staff of quick, courteous, obviously competent assistants says a LOT. Give them a leading comment like 'Dr. so-n-so sure seems good-smart-really up on his stuff-whatever'. Often the nurse or other staff will fall over themselves to tell you what a great doctor he is, how lucky they are to be working for him, and how much he helped THEM. We have found an amazing number of really top-notch Doctors have at least some staff that originally had their first contact with the doctor as patients. I have to say I hope that none of those reading this ever have enough experience to get as good as we feel we have become at sizing up new doctors.
    • Ask people you know locally or in your area if any of them have faced or know someone who has faced a similar cancer. We have found or confirmed very good doctors that way, too.
    • The Cancer Treatment Centers of America. I talked with them at length, and while I did not choose them for therapy, they did mail me a large packet of highly useful information. This is the organization that advertises nationwide and some find that distasteful, I am sure. But they were not high pressure, at least not with me, and I favor using every resource you can locate.
    • Herbal medicine. I also read a third book giving all-natural types of treatments and remedies for prostate cancer. I use some of the supplements suggested as part of my aftercare. There may be herbal or other natural supplements that would have efficacy in treating or relieving your Mom's symptoms.
    • Prayer. I know of a few documented instances of advanced cancer where people with a strong spiritual foundation and loving church affiliations have organized prayer groups and round the clock prayer circles, etc. There are such things as spontaneous remissions, for whatever reason.
    • If you do decide to get treatment, don't be afraid to look up your doctors, and hospital or treatment center at the various public rating and grading services. When my wife had to have part of her intestines removed for a blockage/possible cancer tumor recently, we learned that the closest local major hospital, where we might normally have sought treatment, had the lowest rating out of thirty listed in the Dallas/Ft Worth area for that particular type of surgery. Oddly enough the Gastro-Enterologist and Surgeon we had already found for her using the top docs technique mentioned above were both associated with the number one rated hospital for the same type of procedure on that same hospital grading service. Curiously, that same local hospital whose Gastro Surgery rating was worst has a Day Surgery center that is among the top rated, and when my wife had to have a breast tumor excised and biopsied, they were great.
LSK, I don't know if any of this will help find your family a ray of hope, but if your family does choose to seek extended life, I hope these ideas help.

    Jak

I see that this post has gotten ridiculously long and has entirely too much information about me and my family when it should be focused on You and Yours, LSK.

I have written as I did, and am leaving everything in, to demonstrate that the ideas I am sharing are hard won and based on real experience. More and much more painful, experience than I have mentioned. Your trial has touched the hottest of hot buttons with me LSK, and I find I must complete the circle and share one final thought.

I hope none of the physicians involved in your mother's care are the type of old time doctor that puffs up if questioned, or resents a patient that seeks a second opinion or alternative therapy. This type of antiquated attitude is still out there, along with the patient attitude that Doctor's are semi-divine and NOT to be questioned. If going on 60 years has taught me anything about health care it is that the medical profession is full of, surprise, human beings. They are mortal, fallible, good, and bad people.

Some, perhaps most, are shining examples of professional concern and integrity, with a real calling to heal. But some are money-grubbing revolving door treatment salesmen who will hustle you off their table and out of their office if there is no money to made from your affliction. I had a guy exactly like that as my first doctor on major illness number two. The fact that severe endolymphatic hydrops had left me practically unable to walk was of no interest to him. His advice - "Get used to it, it might get better with time." When I mentioned possibly getting a hearing aid for the one ear that had major hearing loss from the same condition, it was like I had waved bacon in front of a Schnauzer. Woof. I had a handful of brochures in nothing flat. He was the last doctor I or my wife ever consulted by a blind referral.

My second otolaryngologist, found after an extensive search, had testing equipment that checked my balance function IN his office, and a Vestibular Rehabilitation Physical Therapist ON his staff. She spent several weeks teaching me how to walk again, so now all I need is a stick.

Some other doctors are over educated ego maniacs that know they are better educated, and certainly much better educated about medicine, than you are or ever will be. They Pronounce, but never inform or explain. Their idea is not only the best idea, but the Only Idea. The Surgery profession is rife with this type as, I suppose, it does take a really confident person to cut other people open day after day. Once again I could tell stories.

With the possible exception of a surgeon who you have verified as being a whizz by other means, or some other doctor whose reputation is literally nationally famous and beyond question, I would tell anyone with any disease to drop a God Complex doctor instantly and find someone who has the time to answer your questions and concerns, if only briefly. Find a doctor who cheerfully welcomes and encourages second opinions. One who pushes you to become involved in the selection of treatment options. Something you do or did because you felt it was the right move will always be a comfort to your mind, even if the outcome is not good, and wise modern doctors know this.
  10. Would the Placate proc be useful for a Stalker?

If it is working and not broken, what power would you place it in for maximun effect?

    Jak
  11. I think the most significant thing about what you have done, by preparing in this way, is to insure that when a particular Alt catches your fancy you can campaign that character with out any distractions. That would certainly ramp up my enjoyment of CoH.

I find that constantly having to stop play on a new or mid-level toon, and figure out where I have resources to buy and craft needed stuff, really breaks the feel of being a Super on a Super Quest for Totalized Self.

I know I will not be able to duplicate your achievement, but would certainly wish to. Hopefully I can at least get far enough ahead to have one toon's worth of primary goodies in a bin somewhere.

    Congrats,

    Jak
  12. Getting one slot into Buildup is trivial. Remove one slot from any ToD and change that ToD to a Crushing Impact to regain the lost Rcgh bonus. Remove 1 slot from Danger Sense, add one slot to Caltrops for Positron Damage Proc. Makes the Melee just barely soft-capped at 45.04% , and Ranged stays OK at 45.7%.
    The chunk for that

Adding Recall requires droping the Fighting Pool altogether if I want to keep all the other powers. The complete rework posted below.
NOTE: Did this Quick and Dirty so power pick levels and actual sloting levels are haphazard. just wanted to see if the numbers looked ok.

EDIT: ARRGH!! LEFT OUT THE 3% STEADFAST. WILL REPOST CORRECTED BUILD ASAP.

2nd EDIT: ok fixed the build and wanted to note that one thing I am finding I really like about Nin vs. SR is you can Put the Steadfast in Kuji-In Sha, you don't need tough.

3rd EDIT: Well quick and dirty was a waste of time as I kept making mistakes, lol. The second edit build had an un-allocated slot. Here is the real honest to goodness V 4 build.

Corrected corrected Build with Steadfast 3% for Candi:

Further advice will be MUCHLY appreciated! Edit 3: and apparently really needed.

    Jak
  13. Hmmmm, good ideas. After playing Candi a lot more I am really wanting to squeeze in Recall Friend, too, as I never had an alt. that could truly stealth missions before. I'll see what I can do and repost. She should go 50 today. Sad part is I already crafted and slotted the ToD's as they are 40 max, lol

    Thanks,
    Jak
  14. Think this is pretty good but wanted to know if I have any major flaws as am still very new to Stalkers.

    Thanks, Jak

  15. If you are going to short slot stamina your FIRST concern should be to deepen your pool. The deeper pool leverages all your recovery values, increases the amount of Endurance for each Proc fire, and gives a bigger window of opportunity for the P-shift Proc to help you. And find a second slot for Stamina to place the P-Shift End Mod. I mean really, 2 slots in still pretty barren for that power.

Get the two +end accolades, Atlas Medallion and Portal Jockey, or the two equivalents red side, Marshall and Born in Battle. +5 Max endurance each. No, I don't think you can stack all 4 for 120, limit 2 per customer, thank you.

New Pool 110. New P-Shift proc value - 11 Endurance per Proc fire. 0.22 End/sec avg. Sight solving the avg. value of the P-Shift Proc is simple. Double your max endurance and divide by 100. That's why the old version of the Proc that alway gave exactly 10 endurance was always worth 0.2 end/sec avg.

Work some of the sets that grant +Max Endurance into your build if you can. Some of my favorites include Eradication at 2 slots but consider 3 for the 3.13% Defense to E/NegE, Decimation at 4 slots but use 5 for the 6.25% +recharge too, Gift of the Ancients needs 4 but has a Recovery boost at 2 paired with the +Max at 4, and even better, Impervium Armor at 4 slots with 2.5% Recovery at 2 and 2.25% +Max End at 4. The Mids Set Bonus finder can help as there are many others.

Get your Max End up to around 115 with the P-shift firing for 11.5 and a .23/sec avg rate. Even at full bore drain you should have a significantly longer time for the proc to hit you.

If you can get two of these procs into the build it becomes almost impossible to run dry unless you are drained / shut down. At least my Claws / SR with Physical Perfection epic can't. Runs Focused Accuracy full time too.

    Hope that is of use,
    Jak
  16. The only travel powers I ever take anymore except for concept reasons are Teleport on a Stone Armor alt for Granite work, and/or Superspeed with a Celerity Stealth proc. for a one button very good stealth (that also stacks with other stealth powers too ) on a toon that already had Hasten.

The Ninja/Beast run + sprint thing works just fine, esp. now that Inherent Fitness gives you Swift and Hurdle automatically. A second slot in swift or sprint, or a few run speed boosts from sets like the GotA 7.5% global, Perf Shifter, Aegis, Regen Tissue, Gaussians, etc. can get your speed up to near unenhanced Superspeed. My Stone tank shows 69.21 MPH in game. That is with assorted 9 speed boost set bonuses and a 2 slotted swift though, so he can move well in Granite.

In addition to the Raptor I carry a crafted Jet Pack or the free Raptor from the for safeguard mish as a backup in case I forget to renew a purchased Raptor and run dry in a mission. Some set boosts affect all movement including flight too, at LvL 50 on just about every alt that uses a Raptor I am almost at the fly speed hard cap with a Raptor alone. But both Steam Jump and/or GvE pack will STACK with a Raptor, giving me hard capped flight speed if I really want it. You can use them seperaty in sequence as either one will do it.

In fact, since the revisions to flight speed a while back, at pretty much any level a Raptor is very close to the Fly Speed Hard Cap for that level. Activating Steam Jump or GvE Jump in addition Will put you at the hard cap for your current level. Just tested this in game at unenhanced swift on levels 15, 26, and 35.

Before the flight speed changes the GvE was a very noticable boost. I thought of it as lighting my afterburners. Stacked with regular fly too.

Having said all that My First Vet Power Purchase, after the new store goes live, will be the ability to take a Real Travel Power at level 6. Will save a power pick on so many toons that do use Fly etc. for concept reasons.

  17. My main is a Stone / Fire. I think I have about 3000 hrs on him in 20 months.
OP - mrbothsides, your stated aim is Uber tank anything, 2nd goal Farming.

As I see it there are three houses at Stone Armor Hogwarts.
The 'Only when needed/panic button House' (symbol an up-gunned Crusader Tank towing a heavy Tank).
The Blanaced House (symbol a Panther tank towing a Tiger I).
The Granite all the time House (Symbol a Tiger II but shooting underloaded ammo.)

All the builds have compromises, but being a member of the Granite all the time house I think you can be most efficient focusing on One style only and to be Uber that style has to be Granite all the time.

Your Tiger II can have it's weaknesses fixed while keepeing it's 45+ Defense and 80-90% Resists (my resists will hit 80+ when I finally get a Hami Ribosome). I use the following set-up most of the time, including farming.

Weave and Manuevers - almost avoids having to use defense boosting attack sets, allowing recharge boosters in attacks instead. I run 1 Kinetic Combat for S/L and 1 Eradication for E/NE. Aegis resist sets handle the Fire/Cold.

Alpha +45% Musculature. Almost removes the Granite Damage penalty. Seems like the best, really the only efficient, way to do this.

Run speed boosting set bonuses. ( I found these best: GotA 7.5%, 2 slot Swift, Perf Shifter, Aegis, Regen Tissue, Gaussian's) Anything close to 20mph has seemed fine to me in the course of playing various builds.

Recharge penalty is canceled with set bonuses. (LotG 7.5%, Decimation, Crushing Impact, Positron's Blast, Doctored Wounds, Basilisk's Gaze. Purples if you can afford) I prefer not to use Hasten as when I tried it the crash always seemed to sneak up and bite me (dropped toggles). Many doubtless more skilful players love Hasten on a Stone.

Defense Debuff Resistance - normal max with rooted is only about 60%. Before Destiny this was a problem sometimes. Now I run Ageless Radial Epiphany. This Hard Caps DDR for short periods and permits a constant 85+% with Rooted if needed. It also fills your Blue bar once (no recovery boost) and gives a nifty additional recharge rate boost.

For extreme content (Lord Recluse and Incarnate Trials) I switch out the Alpha for a max Nerve Radial for added Def and a taunt boost.

My final build move on my Stone/Fire is to use only two slots in Rock, Crystal and Minerals. No Brimstone. The slots freed up by this move give you the slots you need to have superior Regeneration. Mine is at 49.5/sec Rooted, 71.4HP/sec when adding Earth's Embrace. Because of the recharge boosts and Ageless, Embrace is almost perma.

Even with just 2 slots the Weave and Manuevers combine to give 38% S/L, 39.9 E/NE, and 46% Psionic out of Granite if necessary.

With this build I carry inspirations but I almost never use them now.

Hope these ideas are of use to you, mrbothsides.

  18. To Change the Epic, just use Alt+click to delete each power from the current Epic. When you have deleted them all you should then be able to select a different Epic/APP.

The slots and sets will remain unchanged until you put a new power in place. When you do, if the existing set is not valid for the new power, the slots will remain but automatically go empty.

There may be a better way but I can't be bothered keeping up with all the MIDS short cut changes when this is just about a reflex action for me now.

    Hope that is helpful,
    Jak
  19. I recently made 2 F/F/Pyre basic SO tanks so I could Power Level my own alts using my wife's account and vice versa. All I found I needed was the Big 3 endurance helpers (Miracle, Numina's and PS proc) and a Kismet +6% to comfortably do the +4+8 fire farming thing. Consume and a few blue pills cover any hiccup on endurance.
Also, having Fireball to add to the AoE chain on a tank with no IO set haste bonuses, just a 3 slotted Hasten, really helped. Ditto Fireblast to keep the heat on the bosses when you have eliminated 3 or 4 spawns and have to tidy up with ST.
I would think a decent all-around build with better end sloting in attacks, not to mention the end accolades, could use just about any Alpha.

  20. This is my first attempt at a Stalker Build, also for my first Stalker. Rather than start a new thread I wanted to add this one for comparison and constrast of what experienced Stalker players think is important and or skippable. I was also curious if perma-hasten is worth going for on a Stalker so as to have AS and placate up as often as possible?

  21. Get your run speed from set tricks and two slotted swift.

But I use a 45% Musculature a lot for farming as my Stoner is so tuff anyway I don't need a Nerve or Cardiac, and I now have a large amount of set recharge bonuses. The slightly slower attack chain speed vs a Spiritual 45% (I have that too) is offset by the the improved damage and your endurance is not as stressed due to fewer attacks for same results. The only loss is a modest decrease in applying the Interactive proc effects.

    Just a thought.

    Jak
  22. I find as I gain expertise in Teleporting that anything approaching 20 Mph is enough.
This has 18.5 Mph in Granite. I often find anything higher than 20 very challenging when affected by Speed Boost, etc. even if I turn on Rooted to slow down. That is in major part because you just cannot jump. Even useing terrain freature tricks like running up side walls, you will just often get stuck and probably have a disorienting view full of nothing but wall when it happens. This build is a work in progress and Rock still runs about 23 MPH in game, so I have been there and done that a lot.

The build shown retains capped resists via Cardiac and set bonuses, has excellent Haste boosts of 100% from sets plus additionl from Destiny (I use Ageless Radial Epiphany for haste boost, spot endurance recovery and the Defense Debuff Resistance boost - the only way to get capped DDR part time and 85% DDR or more full time if needed.) All 6 regular defenses are at 55%+ to require minimal support vs Incarnate content, Lord Recluse, etc.
It also has very strong regeneration. 30.3 minimum HP/s. If Rooted 50.7 if Embraced+Rooted 71.8. Embrace is not perma but recharges quite well.

Anyway here is a slightly different take on semi-speedy Granite. Using all the other excellent builds shown so far you should be able to get all the ideas you need to tune up what you want. My only real hard and fast rule would be - do not put a 3rd slot in Swift if you can possibly put a 4th or 5th Gift of the Ancient 7.5% Run Speed somewhere, as the GotA is a much better choice.

EDIT: left out Data Chunk, reposted build. OMG posted worng build from a post above, lol. Trying One More Time!

  23. JakHammer

    Drop Rate?

Does being a +1 Level shifted 50 affect the drop paramenters in any way?

    Thanks,
    Jak
  24. Noticed the best for Claws thread and need similar advice for Dual Blades I am about to start.
    Thanks!

  25. When I first started about 18 months ago Rad/MM was being discussed alot. I tried one and it was the first Alt I had that really felt super.

Eventually after multiple respecs and study I went with a Perma-Hastened build that has DP up perma also. 5 slotted for mostly heal and recharge with 3 Touch of the Nictus and 2 Perf Shifter. Spiritual 45% recharge Alpha. I chose to take all the AoE except the nuke and it works well for me. I would probably take it later than I have it now if leveling from scratch. Took it at 24 on last respec.

Also Soft capped to S/L. Stealth proc in sprint. Just be ready with a break free for the mezzers and it really does let you solo most stuff.
