Quote:Good news! The consignment house is not FIFO (first in, first out). It's random (more or less). You might end up getting the next one.So, I just plunked down my own 2 billion influence to stand in line to get the next Gladiator's Armor +3% defense IO for my WP/DM tank, after realizing that the last 3% to the softcap was costing me something like 6 slots that could otherwise be doing useful stuff, like damage and healing.
As an aside: yeah, I'm something like #186 in line. -

Quote:Please read what I actually wrote before correcting me. I absolutely did not say that SSDs do not have superior throughput. My exact words (which anyone can verify by scrolling up to post #4, which is unedited) were:Ironblade is PARTIALLY right. An SSD won't make a huge difference. HOWEVER, he's wrong about throughput not being superior. Likely it's colored by his choice of SSD. Some of the new SSDs have throughput and sustained transfer rates that simply dwarf any spindle-based hard drive.
"SSD transfer rates are not shockingly superior to regular HDs."
The improvement in transfer rate is not comparable to the improvement in seek time. -
Quote:Sometimes that is the only answer people have. When you see that, in this context, translate it as: "There is something proprietary or wrong about your laptop so the keyboard isn't working like it should."I also know that I did not say people had already told me that here. I have said it elsewhere and it really drives me nuts when I tell someone I have tried one thing over and over and it refuses to work and their only response is well that should work.
They're saying "It works when I do it." But, of course, they're not using your laptop. Maybe there's a hidden setting. Maybe that model has some peculiarity of hardware or software. Maybe something you installed a year ago borked a setting. Maybe the manufacturer just didn't adhere to industry standards. I'm not an expert on HP laptops so I can't offer any advice. -
Quote:It sounds like you're looking at the details on the enhancement screen. If so, wrong place. The information on that screen includes ONLY the enhancement effect of what is slotted, plus Incarnate bonuses if you have any. When I finished respecing, I looked at Healing Aura, and the Detailed Info says, "219.00 (133.86) heal on target". When I slot the fourth Doctored Wounds, the Detailed Info says, "219.00 (133.86) heal on target.
IO set bonuses are *NOT* included in the calculations on the enhancement screen. A guaranteed way to test it would have been to actually use the heal power and note the green number over the targets head, then slot the final IO and try again.
1) If I understand the situation correctly, there is nothing wrong.Quote:Is this a known problem? Or do I get the badge?
2) If there is something wrong, no way in hell does it qualify for Bug Hunter. Unless the 'bugged' healing is crashing the servers. -
Quote:Did that.Could always use the color palate, and make your own crystal or gemstone armor set? Model it around ice armor, or umm.. stone?

I have a stone tank named Dr Dolomite. Dolomite is a mineral which usually occurs as a grey crystal. So his armors are: grey crystals. (Aside from Granite - feh!) -
Quote:It's not generosity; it's enlightened self-interest. The Menders aren't the only ones who can see the future. The Well wants its own troops that are, at least somewhat, beholden to it.I don't think I've seen this explained ingame yet. Up until now, Incarnates have been pretty rare in the ingame canon. Yet suddenly there are hundreds if not thousands walking the path to Incarnate. Oh and we know the Well is sentient and willing to communicate if it feels the need. So what are the thoughts on the Well's sudden generosity?

Putting CoH on a solid state drive will not make a huge difference. The reason is simple. If you look in the pigg directory, you'll see just 67 files comprising nearly 4GB. These are *BIG* files. The main factor in loading them is the data transfer rate. SSD transfer rates are not shockingly superior to regular HDs.
On the other hand, my Windows directory and subdirectories contain over 68,000 files. When you start Windows, it accesses probably a few thousand of them. Now, SEEK TIME becomes a big factor - how long it takes to get to the start of each file. This is where SSDs absolutely freaking blow HDs out of the water. You'll hear people make claims that Windows used to take 2 or 3 minutes to load and now it takes 15 seconds on an SSD. That's not hyberbole.
To summarize, CoH will load faster from an SSD but it won't blow your mind. When I watch Windows or Photoshop load, that blows my mind. I have a 128GB SATA3 SSD.
How big a drive do you need? I have CoH and no other games installed. (I have the test server copy installed on a hard drive since I don't use it constantly.) I have a boatload of other apps, including some large ones like Photoshop. I'm running Win7 Pro 64bit. So far I'm using 40GB of the drive. My data is stored on a 750GB HD. If you're thinking about installing some other games as well, I would not go less than 64GB.
In my opinion, is an SSD worth it? OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG YES!!!!!!!!
To me, it's all a matter of proportion. My video card was over $300 and I have 8GB of RAM. They are still expensive, though. My drive was $276 in early 2010. Price on NewEgg today is $265. (Crucial SATA3 128GB) -

Quote:I do enjoy playing them. But I also like the feeling of progress that I get from earning XP. So playing a tank that is earning XP is preferable (for me) to playing a tank who is already 50. (Aside from high-level content.)If you have all 8 Tanker primaries at 50 and you can't enjoy playing any of them well, uh, Tankers might not be your thing(and why did you get them to 50 in the first place
).
My tanks all have the alpha slot unlocked. Two of them have it slotted so far. I do play other AT's. I have more controllers than tanks.Quote:Try other ATs? Work all those tanks through the incarnate content? I like Tanks and prefer doing their job on the team, but I have plenty of Blasters, some Scrappers, a Brute, two Controllers, and I've started a Fire/Fire Dominator recently.
I don't like blasters that much. I have one at 50 and one at 37.Quote:Try a Blaster for a complete change of pace, you may be surprised at just how much you enjoy it. Or try a Controller for another team support, aggro control character that plays totally differently. Scrappers can be quite similar if you don't want to change quite that much.
I've found that having played all ATs to 50 I understand their roles better and it makes it easier to tank; I understand now why this AT wants something and why that AT wants something else from a tank.
I have almost as many controllers as tanks.
I only play two scrappers: Ironblade and one on Triumph that I play with my brother.
I've played most ATs to 50: blaster, controller, defender, scrapper, tanker, warshade, brute, corrupter, dominator. A stalker is next, at level 36.
My warshade is human/squid only. Maybe I'll do a peacebringer next and make it human/lobster only and play that as a 'tank'.
Mainly I want new armor sets. I'm hoping we some day get one based on crystals or gemstones. Someone once asked why they couldn't make the ice armor darker shades and the devs specifically said they didn't want it to look like gemstones. This obviously means they have such a set in development.

I've taken every armor set to level 50.
What do I do now?

Quote:I hate stuff like this. I use Win7 and the screenshots work perfectly for me. I have keybinds set up to take them both with and without the interface and I have no problem pasting them into Photoshop. When I go to take a screenshot ingame I hit Prtsc and as of lately when i go to paste it on Paint it shows the picture as a black box, nothing else, any advice?

Quote:(shrug) You asked who the guy behind ParagonWiki was and I told you. I know he plays on Infinity (having seen him there). I don't know what other servers he may play on.Are you the player behind Paragon Wiki? I spend most of my time there checking things out, I must say I freakin love the site.

What a lot of us are trying to say is that it's only a serious issue in your mind. The game population is higher now than it has been in a while. Also, many people PREFER quiet servers. If they start merging to make every server like Freedom, they do a great disservice to a portion of their customer base.

A few questions to see if I'm understanding this correctly.
- Both accounts are being run on the same computer?
- Only the new account exhibits this crashing?
Have you tried editing a costume on the new account AFTER character creation (i.e. go to the tailor)? -
His post and request made perfect sense to me, even before he said it was a netbook.
-
Yeah, but it's not all THAT easy. I think the biggest stumbling block would be mounting the CPU heatsink. Definitely not as simple as plugging in a lamp.
-
Ironblade - BS/regen.
I only have one Dimensional Keystone, so I'd like another. -
-
It will NOT clear the "Fame balls". They are on a timer independent of changing alignment.
-
This is OBVIOUSLY BS. Are you claiming you can be everywhere at once? If not, how can say that there is no one "anywhere"?
Damn straight it doesn't. So why don't you stop it?Quote:Look, it doesn't do anyone - especially not NCSoft/Paragon - any good to try and cloud the issue. -
He's just being cranky.
FYI, 'the guy' behind ParagonWiki is TonyV.
