Actually, you can. Stand far enough back from the crate that you don't get the blue hand pointer and click on it. You'll target it and your target window will tell you what the crate contains.

They wanted to. Unfortunately, existing systems won't allow it without major changes to the software. That's why they increased the member limit from 75 to 150 - since they couldn't make it by global.

The "requirement" is 'get candy canes and buy it'.

I can't say for certain that ALL of them are considered different powers, but I have multiple characters with 3 temp flight powers.

The Disruptor badge gives you the Longbow Warden 2 gladiator who has an AoE heal. Arena gladiator matches are generally how non-healers get the healing badges.

In theory, no. In practice, yes but it's not really helpful.

Zoning causes the game to 'forget' where the buff came from and that allows proc 120 IO's to stack with themselves. For example, the stealth IO gives 30 ft stealth. I've seen that as high as 120 ft (exit mission, go to Ouro, go to new zone, enter next mission - quadruple stacked).

So yes, you can stack it for a brief time by zoning.

Firstly, it's far from impossible. Plenty of people solo it with different AT's and powersets. If you tell us what you're playing, we can offer specific advice.

Also, you may have just had a streak of bad luck. Surely you've seen people complaining they haven't gotten a purple recipe in months, but someone else got 3 just yesterday. You can go in with capped defense and get plastered instantly. Sometimes the random number generator just has it in for you.

Anyway, if we suggest getting help, we're not ranting. Adding a second player adds more of the regular enemies but the Honoree and Holtz don't change at all. Adding a second player makes a huge difference. Unless you were on at a dead time of day (3 AM US time), you should be able to find help if you look in the right places. Broadcast (in any zone) stinks for that. Global channels are gold.
  8. The components on your list look good. I think that power supply has the right connectors for the video card (the vid card needs a 6-pin and an 8-pin PCI-E connector).

I have the same power supply and almost the same motherboard. The PSU is big enough as long as you'll only have one video card. It says it can run two, but for for two of those cards I'd want more watts.

I think 6 years is an unreasonable expectation. Since you're talking about gaming, I think that it will take less than 6 years for you to become unhappy with the computer performance.

As for the cooler.... well, the Intel stock coolers are better than they used to be. They're good enough if you're not doing anything particularly strenuous. Running one instance of CoH on a quad core CPU is NOT strenuous. I run SETI@home plus Rosetta@home so my CPU is running all 4 cores at 100% utilization 24/7. I have this cooler. It's awfully tall so you need be sure a case is wide enough. I wanted a tall (rather than wide) cooler since my memory modules are kind of tall.

Edit: Oh, I don't think that Zalman cooler you link to is compatible with socket 1155. That's a pretty old model.

I have those. I had a pair of Plantronics for about 5 years and they finally gave out. I had a chance to get those Razer ones as refurbs for $40 and I jumped at it. Very happy with them.

I suspect our fearless leader will want you to bring this toon. For anyone who doesn't know it, the CoP Trial is started from inside a supergroup base. Therefore, the leader of each team needs to be in the same SG so that their teammates can all get into the base. Mud.Bug, Doctor A Science and Ironblade are all in the same SG (and we have a Raid Teleporter).

I can bring Ironblade (BS/regen scrapper), Dr Dolomite (stone/stone tank) or Captain Firekin (fire/kin troller). They are all in the same SG and level 50. I've moved my other 50's to an alt SG.

Okay, but I think that's a HORRIBLE attitude to have in an MMO. People help each other all the time. I'm in a 'public service' SG where the group exists specifically to offer assistance to other players. If you think that asking for help is unacceptable, then the problem lies with you and not the Ouroboros power.

But what really give me the red @$$ about this is the game's closing off a quest line that gives a prereq to something else, particularly when there is no hint of it happening ahead of time. This is, like the rest, undocumented. Had I known that the metagame clears outlevelled questlines AND that this drawing was necessary to fulfill a quest later on,
Except it DOES NOT close it off like you keep insisting. So get over it. Before you're high enough level to be able to do Ramiel's arc, you'll have 10 levels worth of time to get a badge in Recluse's Victory that will give you access to Ouroboros. There is no problem here.

As far as I recall, none of the winter badges make ANY mention of date, year, etc. They became available during specific years, but are not "tied to" specific years. (Did not log in to check, but ParagonWiki agrees with me.)

UNLIKE the anniversary badges which actually have a NUMBER right on the badge.

They don't, and they haven't. Anyone has multiple methods of getting the Ouroboros Portal at any given time.

Regarding Recluse's Victory, the portal is NEVER closed.
    1) As a PvP zone, the zone has a level restriction.
    2) If you are a Vigilante, you can not enter from Grandville. You have to enter from Atlas Park.
    3) You may have been at the wrong portal. Check your map more closely.

The nearness of price isn't relevant either.

The defragging shouldn't matter, unless things go terribly wrong with the hardware on which the market server is running.

The buyer will buy the cheapest item listed. That's it. If you want to sell quickly, list low. Whatever is listed lowest will sell first, to any bid which is higher than the list price.
And I know he knows because he organized a bunch of us on the market channel to test it. We found an item with a low number of items for sale and bought them all. Then we went back and forth posting sales and bids at various prices, in different orders, etc.

Most people who are actually DOING something will not be outdoors where you can see them. The ones loitering outdoors are likely to be either visiting the market or just socializing. Both of these activities are often done with peoples 'primary' characters, who would tend to be level 50.

-- and this brings me to the part which annoys me most. The vast majority of the level 50s I've encountered seem to treat this game as just another kill-the-monster, get-the-treasure MMO where the idea is to min/max your power potential. They create stupid or boring names (some of them don't even bother to think of superhero names, they use what appears to be a name chosen randomly from a phone book), and can't be bothered to create even the most basic background. Reading through the various fora here, people seem to be interested solely in obsessing over "toons" and "shards" and "IO builds" and which "AV" slots out best and other arcane trivia.
Well, your experience is DRAMATICALLY different from mine. I can't explain it. Maybe you were already a bit soured on the game and are only seeing the negative things around you.

As for your characterization of the posts on the forums, that's to be expected. The math-heads, gear-heads, min-maxers, etc gravitate to the forums since you can go into excruciating detail in this format.

This is only my second month playing, but I'm already questioning whether I want to continue.
Not every game is a good fit for every potential player. I've been playing this one 5-1/2 years and I love it. If you're disliking it from day one, it may not be for you.

I'm not going to argue that you should "give it another chance" because, frankly, I would find that almost insulting if someone said it to me. If I don't like something, then I don't like it and no one is going to persuade me that I actually do like it. This is a game. The goal is to have fun. If you're genuinely NOT having fun, try a different game. Please note: I'm not saying, "Get lost!" I think this is a GREAT game. But not every game is great (or even acceptable) to every player.

um.. that's badly phrased. The LotG +recharge is in its own rule of 5 (because the set bonus has a different name) and it stacks just fine with the regular 7.5% recharge bonus. i.e. You can have five LotG *AND* five others and get the bonus of all ten.

I understand you were saying that it doesn't stack with the other bonuses for purposes of triggering the 'rule of five', but that phrasing was really confusing.

It depends. Don't wince yet. It doesn't depend on math or detailed analysis. Mostly, it depends on YOU. What is your PERCEPTION when playing the character in question?

This is really very similar to the questions people used to ask when the invention system was first introduced. "What set bonuses should I get?" The first thing you need to do is ask yourself, "Does this character have any problems?"
    - Do you often detoggle due to running out of END?
    - Do you miss often enough that it annoys you?
    - Do you have gaps in your attack chain where you have to wait for powers to recharge?

If you can get an Alpha boost that addresses a problem that has always irked you about a toon, it will make a *HUGE* difference in your enjoyment. Getting 11% extra damage isn't going to put a smile on the faces of most people. Going from having to rest after every fight to never looking at your END bar again will make people deliriously happy.

So that's your first question: Does the toon have a problem and is there an Alpha boost that can fix it?
Note: I know you said in your post that any actual problems would be fixed by the time the toon hits 50. But I think this should be the starting point for most people (just like with IO's), so I figured I'd mention it here.

If that doesn't apply, THEN you play to your strengths. My main toon (Ironblade) is broadsword/regen. He's purpled out. He's a beast. No problems. One of the 2nd tier boosts give +recharge/+heal. The recharge is huge for his primary (broadsword is very slow) and both effects help his secondary. His self heals are now all over 105% on heal and recharge. He was great before, and now he's just a little bit better across the board.

    Quote:
In terms of the tank, do I want more defense? Will that give me more bang for my buck?
Ah, now we have to get a little mathy. Your example of the damage boost is perfect. When most people slot their attacks, they're going to end up with 95% or higher damage enhancement. Adding the Incarnate boost really doesn't help as much as it could. Most of it gets killed by ED. Same for a tank. You probably already have his defense powers hitting up against ED limits pretty hard. But what if your attacks have 50% acc, 60% recharge and 95% damage. If you get an Incarnate boost to recharge, almost all of it will actually be helping you.

So you really need to look at how you have slotted the toon in question.

Finally, for some toons, you really do want to eke out every possible bit of improvement in a key area. As as example, for my stone tank I wanted to boost his resistance. His resistance powers are already well into ED territory. I don't care. Just the portion of the boost that ignores ED is enough to make it worth it for me.
  24. The mines are not critters. They are put down by invisible critters which can not be targeted. Previously, the invisible bombers could be affected by certain AoE powers, but that was fixed.
