Going Nuts!

I have spent an entire Day trying to complete the following mission -- "Retrieve the Stolen Incarnate Container". I can get the weakened incarnate down to 3/4 of his hit points. Then I get hit and pumlled to death. I can understand makinng something difficult, but impossible is nuts. Don't rant to me about geting help because I could not get any one to assist me. I had a Shiva and PPD pets helping me and still died. I used medium insperations as well. I destroyed the Ritki portals and he still got reinforcements. I pulled him so he was alone and failed again. I amassed almost 300,000 in debt and climbing. So how do I kill this mob

Debt is just another badge.

Did you use 1 insp or several? When it comes to even the Weakened Honoree, depending on you AT/Powersets it could take multiples 2 or 3 Teir 2's Purp and Red. It took me 3 or 4 tries on my Illusionist.

Also, do you have access to a base? Try crafting Empowerment buffs at an Empowerment Station.

What server are you on, Pofoknedalot? I'm sure a shout in here, or down in your server section will bring out people willing to help.

Oh, and welcome to the forums.

Welcome to the forums! And, I feel your pain, he's a tough bugger.

1. Yes, try help again. Do you have a SG? Pester someone there. Alternately, find your server's global channels and ask there.

That aside,

2. Before going in, *lower your difficulty.* There's no stigma with running him at -1 level/0 extra members.

3. He's vulnerable to immobilizes. Controllers, Dominators, Blasters, some Defenders, and if you look in APPs, Tanks, Brutes and Masterminds (I *think* Scrappers/Stalkers as well) get them. Use them. Stack them.

4. Stay out of melee, if you're not a melee AT.

5. Stock up on, and use, inspirations.

6. Temp power: Envenomed dagger. Worth picking up.

7. Ambushes and reinforcements:
- Five come in as you hit the Crey near the container. They start way back near the beginning. Stop and clean them up.

- Ignore the glowie.

- Go into the second-last room (before the one the portals appear in.) Another ambush comes in when you get to the far end here. You'll notice the portals don't appear at all. (Nothing is in the last room.)

- Be sure you have your inspirations, then go back and click the glowie.

- Clear any near portals, ignore the farther ones, and pull first Capt. whatserface, then honoree - bring them into the cleared room. Barring a taunt or AOE (or getting too close,) the other rikti (typically two, osmetimes 3 portals in back) won't move.

It's not impossible. Can take a bit, sure. But it's not impossible.

Oh, and make sure you're not under the Rogue Vanguard's Curse of Weariness. Cuts your END in half - if you are, use some V-merits and grab the curse breaker, or wait it out.

Teams are the number one killer of soloists.

Firstly, it's far from impossible. Plenty of people solo it with different AT's and powersets. If you tell us what you're playing, we can offer specific advice.

Also, you may have just had a streak of bad luck. Surely you've seen people complaining they haven't gotten a purple recipe in months, but someone else got 3 just yesterday. You can go in with capped defense and get plastered instantly. Sometimes the random number generator just has it in for you.

Anyway, if we suggest getting help, we're not ranting. Adding a second player adds more of the regular enemies but the Honoree and Holtz don't change at all. Adding a second player makes a huge difference. Unless you were on at a dead time of day (3 AM US time), you should be able to find help if you look in the right places. Broadcast (in any zone) stinks for that. Global channels are gold.

I understand his frustration, I had the same problem and posted a similar rant in the i19 feedback thread for it when it went live.

3 of my 6 50s I've tried it with couldn't solo that on -1 with temppets and a full set of insps with most double or triplestacked active. When he crushed my Mind/FF troller with the fighting pool I wasn't too shocked. Then my Ninja/Ninja stalker with his tier9 going though, that was crazy, and also my A/TA Corruptor who also may have had the fighting pool at the time.

For the others I've felt like starting the Alpha Arc with I now get up to the honoree mission and decide whether I can get anyone to help at that hour, or alt to another toon and forget about it. One 50 I had couldn't even get past Trapdoor.

I think most people with solo'ing problems understand it's an MMO and everything is team based, but most would also like to see things to make solo'ing possible for certain tasks for certain ATs or Powerset combos. "Find A Team" isnt always possible depending on your server and the hour you play. And for this one I think the OP was close enough to right calling this arc "impossible" to solo

There's another solution, if you've given up hope (ie, failed at -1 and no AVs) - exit the mission and go back to Mender Ramiel and choose the completion option. The rest of the arc (another talk and one more non-AV EB fight) is quite easy.

Last time I did this mission, I went to Warburg first and did the mission to get the Nuke power twice. It really helped to clear the field of those pesky Rikti.

For the record, I had a couple of friends with me. But solo, I would still recommend a Nuke or two.

It's hard for anyone to give specific advice when no one knows what you're playing through the arc.

That said, it is far from impossible. I have solod it twice now. Once on a bots/traps mastermind and once on a SS/WP brute. I will grant that those are both strong solo characters and have respectable (though not uber-expensive) IO set builds. Both of them did it set at +0/x5 for mission settings. I think I died once each getting things pulled and sorted. This was just with trays full of random inspirations that had dropped in the mission.

It's a serious pain, but it can be done, the method for doing so will strongly depend on your AT and power set.

When going through this mission with my mastermind, I wondered why Weakened Honoree was taking so long to defeat.

Then I realized I'd left the AVs set to on after I finally beat him.

As with defeating Trapdoor, soloing mileage varies with this mission (My MA/Will scrapper hasn't gotten past this yet, and not for lack of trying!). In lieu of gathering and unleashing ridiculous amounts of temporary powers, the best option is to get together a team.

...Also, it helps a lot of you pack some Nectanebo's Curse Breaker - that Curse of Weariness can turn this from a difficult fight to an impossible one.

See, I don't get that. My characters aren't "IO'd out," certainly not "purpled out." You could probably remake most of my builds with a single mid-to-upper market priced purple recipe. (I certainly have when one's dropped!) Some of my characters are still mostly on *SOs.* And I'm not an "uber player."

But I've soloed this on every single 50 I have - and I have at least one of each AT, some of them decidedly low powered (Ice/Emp, Earth/FF, Emp/Rad.) Did I die and have to come back on occasion? Yep. Picked up a few more inspirations, perhaps, and came back in.

So, I'm sorry, I just *can't* buy that this is "impossible to solo for certain AT/powersets." I'm not BillZBubba playing the scrapper (or brute) of doom, I don't solo rikti pylons and GMs, I've got thoroughly average builds - I don't even have a perma-Dom. But I can get through this - doing just what I mentioned up in my last post (other than getting a team.)

Completed the arc solo with 5 toons so far. By far the easiest and hardest was my Fire Fire tank. Mostly because of Honoree's end curse. But no deaths

Illusion/rad very easy, no deaths
Earth/Rad easy, no deaths
Dark Dark Def bit harder but no deaths (ran away once)
Mercs / Traps MM ... one death while toe bombing. Least amount of IO sets and Least amount of defense - primarily resistance armor at the time.

Some of these are fairly IO'd out but only the ill/rad has a purple set in deceive.

My wife with her Plant/emp was getting frustrated but I helped her out. Her others all solo'd.

LvL 50 Dark Dark, Emp/Rad Defenders
LvL 50 Inv/Axe, Fire/Fire, Stone/Stone, Mace/Shield Tanks, EM/Inv
LvL 50 Spines/DA Scrapper
LvL 50 Ice/Storm, Ice/Rad, Earth/Rad, 2 Fire/Kin, Ill/Rad, Grav/FF, Controller Elec/Storm
LvL 50 Bots/FF, Merc/Traps, MM Thugs/Traps, Demon/Thermal

I only had one character who could not kill the Honoree at base difficulty and that was my Mind/Kin controller. The other EB went down very easily and I then pulled the Honoree back. Well, I came to find out that he is completely immune to my controls; I stacked up over MAG 50 of confuse on him to no effect and my hold/sleep powers were equally worthless.

I could damage him easy enough and could get him down to about 40% before my insps ran out. After the second faceplant I gave up and tried it again later on with my SG.

I've soloed it on my Rad/Rad defender (debuffs work fine), Inv/Stone tanker (no issues at all there), BS/Shield scrapper, Spine/Regen scrapper, Fire/EM blaster and Ill/Rad controller. None of those characters had any real problems with Honoree and only the Fire/EM blaster needed much in the way of inspirations. However I hit a brick wall with that Mind/Kin 'troller.

You're facing a downscaled AV here. You need to stack mag 54 confuse/hold on him or (IIRC) mag 6 sleep to mez through the purple triangles of doom.

On the plus side, you're /kin. Don't bother mezzing him, just debuff his damage. Between Siphon Power (you did take it, didn't you?) and Fulcrum Shift, you can get him down to doing only 10% normal damage. It's really quite amusing to see powers such as Total Focus hit for trivial amounts of damage. If you still can't handle his melee damage, use Siphon Speed to slow him to a crawl and attack from range.

The PTOD aren't up full time; in a 2 minute fight I never once got him controlled. I know that I was able to handle him with ease with my Ill/Rad, it must be something with Mind's controls being resisted heavily.

That Mind/Kin was the only character I've run solo that had any trouble; Holtz was a piece of cake but Honoree was pretty well undoable with that character. I was spamming both siphons and Fulcrum. I'm sure I could have done it by loading up on inspirations but I'd gotten frustrated by that point and just said heck with it and waited until the SG logged in. I don't know why I never had a single control land on him... hold, confuse or sleep; none of them had any effect from that Mind 'troller. Interestingly enough I WAS getting him held without much problem on the Ill/Rad.

I don't know if I ran into a bug or if something about Mind Control doesn't mix with the Honoree; I'm at a loss to explain it. Usually I'd be agreeing with you about being able to handle him; for some reason it wasn't working that time. I like to think I have some clue what I'm doing which makes my results even more perplexing.
