Entrusted with a Secret Badge

In quite random browsing of the wikis I ran across this as a precondition of getting to Ourboros, itself a precondition to getting the Alpha Slot. Apparently the easiest way to get it is to complete a quest which is now cut off because I am levelled up to high. This makes the whole chain moot. Am I supposed to start over? Beg a stranger to port me to Ourboros to get an explorer badge? I find this extremely disheartening and would like to know, short of those multiplayer quests at the high end of levelling, or the aforemention begging (which I will not do), is there a way of getting from where I am to where I need to be. Or have I wasted my time?

Any exploration badge in Recluse's Victory also qualifies.

How do u get there? I went to Grandville and the portal is closed. I really think they shouldn't close off prereqs like this.

What level are you? If you're level 40 or higher you can get to Recluse's Victory. If you're not level 40 yet, well, if all you're concerned with is the Alpha Slot, you don't need to worry about it until level 50 anyway.

I assume the arc you're referring to is Echo down the Aeons from Marshal Brass. If you're no higher than level 29, one of the missions of Vincent Ross' arc also grants the badge, but apparently only if you choose to free the demon Botis.

If none of the previous statements apply to you, then I guess you're out of luck. Personally I think you could just get over the begging thing, go to the Cap au Diable Black Market when there's people there, and ask someone to drop it. Someone will probably do it on your first request.

The portal to Recluse's Victory is never closed. If you're clicking on the one with Vernon von Grun and Operative Grillo in front of it, that's the wrong portal. That's a mission door. The RV portal is south of that, through a narrow hall.

Get someone to drop an Ouro Portal for you and go to the top of the spire for the badge.

I am sure this is true. I am not sanguine about any of it. And, as I have said, I am not about to sit on a street corner with a cup and a sign that says: "will work for portal". Nor am I willing to wait until I get to 40 to get in to the PvP area just to get sandbagged again by something else.

If you aren't willing to wait until 40 or to as for a portal at a gathering spot--a request which, I note, is usually answered speedily and graciously on the servers I know--I suppose you could hang around the black market in Cap au Diable until someone with less misplaced pride asks if anyone can drop a portal. They can be used by multiple people and last for several minutes, or until the original summoner goes through. During peak hours you will probably not have to wait long.

But as noted, if you're not even 40 yet it is way premature to be worrying about getting there for the Alpha slot, since you cannot acquire it until level 50. If you want to get there for other reasons, then yes, I'm afraid you will have to either level to 40 or swallow your pride.

Edit: Also, since you haven't actually given your level and just so all bases are covered: you must be at least level 25 to enter Ouroboros.

The Alpha slot can only be opened at level 50 - so you're not actually being made to wait for it

Just wanted to pop into say.. thanks for pointing me towards Recluse's Victory. I kept meaning to get the Oroboros Portal power, but I'm always on my way to do something else when I ran into people, and just plain forgot to ask.

I hopped into Recluse's Victory, got the Globetrotter Badge, and got out again with a shiny new power, 1-2-3.

Thank you all for your candor. There is no activity vis a vis chatter or requests on the server I am on so, again, I hate begging. This is one area we will have to just disagree on.

But what really give me the red @$$ about this is the game's closing off a quest line that gives a prereq to something else, particularly when there is no hint of it happening ahead of time. This is, like the rest, undocumented. Had I known that the metagame clears outlevelled questlines AND that this drawing was necessary to fulfill a quest later on, I would have been more attentive to that detail. Neither aspect was known to me and I dsicovered the former at level 20 when a contact was no longer available and I found out the latter by blundering through it on a wiki.

I got this game about three weeks ago and this incident is the latest in a long line of aggravations generated not by the game, but by the metagame (i.e., the mechanics of gameplay and game flow). It's a pity, I rather liked the other aspects of the game. Comparatively speaking it far exceeds the others like this including the DC thing I beta tested. But these gotchas give me the slow burn. I feel like I'm Charlie Brown and this is the football. Sorry.

If I miss getting it unlocked by about 25-30, I run a flashback mission through the SG base.

Does getting to Cimerora give Ouro access? If so, that's another solo way the OP can get there (and it can't be outleveled AFAIK).

The Usurper badge you get at the end of the 4th Patron arc also gives EwtS for villains.
