Well, I think that if you do go quad core, you won't regret it. You're not paying a huge premium and it gives you a degree of 'future proofing'. You may decide just a few months down the road that you really want to play some specific game or use some high-end program. CoH will use two cores by itself (and likely max them out).
Personally, I want to be able to run Word, Excel, Firefox, Yahoo IM, Skype, anti-virus, anti-malware, bandwidth monitoring and CoH all at the same time - then load Photoshop to touch up a screenshot without closing anything else. Also, I have two CoH accounts and want to be able to run both at once. I have a Core i7 870, 8GB of RAM and a solid state drive. I don't regret any of it and the SSD was nearly $380 for 128GB. -
They must be taking spelling lessons from Broadcast. Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to take one of my Going Rouge characters to Cimorra.

It was added for the same reason that Team chat beeps - to get your attention. In my opinion, it was a serious oversight to not have a beep in the first place and this is a useful QoL fix.
I have no problem with people being able to adjust it or turn if off, but I sure as hell don't want it removed. -
Quote:Have you considered that you talk to and socialize with certain people precisely because they share many of your opinions? We don't usually hang around people who we think are always wrong. I point this out because my experiences, and those of the people I talk to, do not match your position at all.I really don't even want to build my toons any longer and if I don't build them why play them, and you see where that leads. I have spoken to many of the people that I play with and most share similar views on this subject. maybe this game is getting long in the tooth.
And your point is what? It seemed like you were making observations about the game population IN GENERAL. If you're going to go on about PVP IO's now, then forget the whole thing. The overwhelming majority of players care NOTHING about PVP IO's. If this is a concern to you, clearly you're not a typical player and I wonder if you have any idea what the "average player" thinks about the game in general and the market in particular.Quote:If it weren't for the PVP-IO farmers there would be none on the market.
The market is fine. It's based on supply and demand and is inherently self-correcting. We can discuss whether the PVP IO drop rate is reasonable, but the MARKET is just fine.Quote:All that aside the market needs looked at, it is out of control. -
Quote:I've never missed warning of Marauder's attack, but I HAVE had occasions where I got no Sequester warning. The only time I saw this happen was when my character had his back against a wall. Having your back to a wall may do something related to the camera position and cause the warning to not display. I have never fought Marauder up against a wall so I can't say if the same situation would apply. Did you recall if you had a wall or other obstacle close behind you?I've seen several occasions where some of the warnings on BAF/Lambda wouldn't trigger causing me to get my butt kicked. For example, I've had my toons sequestered many times "only" after the first warning without the second warning ever showing up. And I've also had multiple occasions where Maruader would use Nova fist to my face with no warning as well.

I would think the same thing could be said about the doomsayers. I've seen people go from thread to thread to expound in detail about how bad things are and how much they hate the game.

Quote:This is the internet, where every person out there is an overweight mouth-breather living in their mothers basement who thinks they're smarter than you. This is a forum and I take nothing personal here and neither should you.
Also, it's a forum for an MMO, so every action by the devs or other players that is not 100% in accordance with your wishes is a SLAP IN THE FACE!

Quote:I remember times when I had to respec so I could sell back the enhancements at full price in order to afford a set of new ones.I remember how prior to IO's how respecs could leave a character broke with powers unslotted until they managed to earn enough inf to fill the gaps.
Mostly on redside - my big earner was a hero and had no way to send money to a villain. -
No, as far as I'm aware that's news.
Bad and unwelcome news, but still news.

This. I don't like hunting greys either. When they introduced Coralax to the Hollows, I used Ouro to exemp to level 9 to hunt them.

Quote:For everyone but the OP, you seem to run into Maelstrom or Desdemona every 2nd or 3rd mission. And of course, knowing how hard it was to get that mish to drop, you announced in your server's badge channel you were about to start it and invited other badgers in...
Right?

Quote:If you go Vigilante from WHERE? If you go from Hero to Vigilante, you lose NONE of those things. For almost every purpose (the exception being Fort Trident) Vigilantes are treated exactly like Heroes. Going from Hero to Vigilante has zero effect on your SG or use of Ouroboros.I'm sure they developers thought they were being perfectly clear but I'm at a loss. If I go Vigilante I apparently loose all of my SG status without being kicked out.
Can I use my SG porter?
Can I use my SG storage racks?
Can I use my SG to make IOs like the university?
Will my reputation with the SG ( having made over 1M SG rep ) be gone?
I'm not but if I were the leader of the SG would I be demoted?
Similarly, for all purposes except The Crucible, Rogues are treated as Villains.
Now, if you go to an OPPOSING alignment, you lose access to your base. You will be demoted if you are the superleader. You will not earn prestige (but you do NOT lose your total). You go to the version of Ouroboros appropriate to your new faction. -
Quote:This is the only part of your thread to which I take exception.the new tfs were great but the only way to shards really thats just BAD BAD BAD game design.
It's not bad design and many people are fine with it. What you mean is that YOU don't like. Oh, and perhaps also the "the 3 or 4 people that i have been playing with for years".
Not everyone is going to like every feature.
Overall, though, I think your suggestion is a bad idea. It's still way too easy to exploit AE. I was in Atlas Park on Freedom over the weekend and it's non-stop advertising for farms with some people charging 10 million per run (I don't know if he had any takers). -
Quote:This is seeming very inconsistent.I haven't been getting ANY notice of awarded badges lately. This includes Destiny Unlocked, Lucky, Scrounger, Mercenary, Vanguard Recruit, The Constant.... It's not just the newest badges created.
The Constant and Lucky - Did not receive any sort of notice - not even in the system messages.
Day Jobs - These are still appearing in the system messages when I log in. No onscreen notice.
Incarnate - Got the first tier 4 on a character the other night and received both the system message notice and onscreen notice. -
Actually, the 400 million isn't the onerous part of that exchange. It's needing 4 rares to convert. As far as I can tell, rares don't drop 4x as often as very rares.

Quote:There is no "accumulated Prestige". The system does not track it when you are not in an SG.1. I have several characters who I have not converted to an SG. I know if I create an SG myself I'll get all the accumulated Prestige. Will it all go to someone else's SG if I join someone else's or will they just get the Praetoria 20K or is it 20K plus whatever I have?
When a NON-Praetorian joins an SG, *IF* the SG has 14 members or less, there is a 'signing bonus' of 20,000 prestige. This is to help new SG's get started.
When a PRAETORIAN character joins an SG, there is a bonus of 100,000 prestige to compensate for the fact they could not join before level 20. It does not matter how many characters are in the SG. This bonus goes to the FIRST SG they join. If they then quit to go to another SG, that 100,000 does not follow them. -
Quote:Actually, I think the wording from Baryonyx in this post was pretty clear:I'm skeptical that there is no individual effort component in what table you get drops from. The devs wording could have meant that there were tiers once you got past getting the bogey prize or could have meant totally random past the bogey prize.
Once you qualify for a component, it is determined randomly.Quote:Once a player qualifies for a component reward, the final block of choices presented to the player are rolled randomly. If you qualified for a component reward, you reached the level of participation for yourself and your league needed to have a chance at any component type.
Now, the system certainly might be BROKEN, but the intent was stated very plainly. -
Well, I didn't get that email (and nothing in my spam folder) and I used to get those emails.
Also, I was logged in yesterday after the time indicated and didn't get any Lucky badge. -
Quote:was just wondering, have the devs ever spoken as to if the damage from pseudo-pets powers counts in getting better rewards in trials?Your level of participation has to reach a certain point to get you past the '10 thread consolation reward table'. Once you have participated enough to avoid that trash table, it is COMPLETELY RANDOM which salvage reward table you get. Your participation/damage/kills/etc have NO IMPACT on whether you get a Common or a Rare.Quote:
i understand the the rewards are based on participation and a random element, -
By SOME people. Definitely not by everyone who runs it.
-
The limiting factor is how many trials you run. The amount of damage you do, or the number of enemies you hit, has ZERO impact on which category of salvage you get. You were just lucky. You could have been playing a tank or defender and gotten the same drops.
