Spent some time on the first character I created last night. Found a good team on virtue and ran almost a full level worth of missions on Peregrine Isle. It was a blast.
I was here when it started and early this morning I logged onto Virtue and was standing all alone under the Atlas statue. I shouted goodbye to an empty zone. My thanks to all the staff and players that made this game great for all these years. The game took some directions I was not happy with along the way and i took a few breaks, but I always came back. It still has the best character creation, best customization, best movement options, and best management of the way you wanted to play of any game made to date and will likely reigned supreme in many of those catagories for the foreseable future. Me and my children will miss getting together to play COH.
Wishing everyone the best and hope to bump into a few of you again sometime. -
I solo on -1 x4 or 0 x4 in the 20s on my squishies. Remember that AE attacks are your friend when trying to level fast while solo. In my thirties I crank it up to X6 if the character can handle it. In the forties I turn it back down if I don't have mez protection. Otherwise all the CC will slow you down. Someone mentioned it earlier and I want to agree that you are better off defeating lots of things fast than spending a lot of time on single high value targets (OK stalkers can be an exception to that).
Leveling is susposed to be a challenge and there is a lot of fun content to see so don't get in too big of a hurry. However, AE is the way to go if you just want to power up to a certain level fast. -
This seems to be a pretty wide spread problem. Make sure you have your drivers up to date. You can use /unloadgfx to clear the memory. I try to do that about every 30 minutes when I am on large teams. It has always worked for me if I remember to do it.

Invest in a stealth IO for your combat jumping or SS. That will save you a power pick and still give the stealth you wanted. I also think that Lightning bolt would be a better pick than charged brawl.

Wow! I still have 50s with empty slots. My solo base does have a couple hundred shinies in reserve, but they are mostly the cheap stuff I don't have an immediate use for.
Your ability to generate a lot of stuff fast is always impressive. Takes more didication than I am willing ot put into the game, but it is fun to watch you from afar. -
My main two blasters are and Ice/ice and a Fire/ Nrg. Ice is still awesome especially if you intend to solo. On a team nothing can crank out raw damage like fire. Take rain of fire though becase the scatter can save you if you draw too much aggro.
I was supprised at your comments on blizzard. It is probably the best nuke in the game now. When it is up I consider it an auto win. Build up, ice storm, blizzard wipes out most rooms. stand where they can't see you to alpha strike. Hold and finish off anything that survives. you will need a blue or two against rtough opponents.
The old blastard philosophy still works well. Hit em hard with little chance to hit back. If it goes badly run away untill you can come back and do it again.
Ohh wone more thing you might not have heard. Blasters can use their tier 1&2 blasts and tier 1 secondary while mezzed now.
Mental manipulation is a new secondary that is worth taking a look at as well. -
Welcome back I remember you and your great guide. PVP experienced a really ham handed adjustment in I13 and is little used now. Still a few hard core types there though. The pve game has added and changed a lot and is generally better. I you left pre IO sets that will be the first big adjustment. A lot of fun and customization to be had there. the recent push has been to improve the level 50 game so you may want to break out your old level 50s for a little play. AE is also a big new feature. Have fun there is a lot of new stuff to see.

Good suggestions if you can find the people. If the premise of the original question is true, the options are limited. A couple of suggeestions would be to go farm for purple IO/shard drops or work on your accolades. Badge hunting is another option. I work on my SG base or stocking it up with IOs for other heros to use. You could always start another alt to level up on the slow times.

I must be a sick puppy. I went with my daughter to see these and actually kind of liked the movies. In my defense I did say they would have been better if one of the Vamps had eaten Bella and maybe Edward too. I enjoyed the world setting and the rest of the characters. Wish they had spent more time on some of them.

I have played a lot of defenders and the one build that has truely made me feel awesome as a defender is my Dark/ Ice. Any well played character can be great but there is a synergy to these two sets that just make them feel like you can take on anything.
You have Tar Patch, Ice Storm, and Blizzard that can be layed down from behind cover to devastate a whole room of bad guys without ever taking a shot. You have a good heal, group stealth, defense and resitance bonuses, Res, slow, and to hit debuffs, stacked holds for bosses, area fear (awesome power), group res, and a pet. what more could you want in a defender?
The build grows through the levels well and the tactics change enough to keep things interesting as you gain new powers. The only weakness I have found is the lack of mez resist. I get around that with capped range defense, mezzing first and avoiding line of sight. Carry a lot of break frees too. -
Lady I am have the exact same problem. I am at work so I can't pull the log. runnig win 7 64 pro and an ATI saphire 5700 series card.
Runnning an Itrial almost always generates a memory leak crash. If I can run /unloadgfx in time that seems to help. -
They are tough for the level they appear and can occur in suprisingly large numbers. I like the challenge of soloing them with my dom with the difficulty turned up to 0 , +4. The best trick I have found is to use movement to spread them into manageable chunks. I hit and run back. Then defeat them as they come forward. Use controls/confuse to spread out and do some damage. When ever they start to pile up move again. My dom is ele/ele so the tactics are a little different but the hit and run trick should work the same.

Some extra damage would be wonderful. However, I don't thank that is the core of the problem. Defender attacks need to use lower endurance to match their lower damage. The biggest problem I have have with defender is always in the middle levels especially on the toggle heavy builds. Someone else mentioned the DPE being bad and they were on the button. Defender are also getting hit worse on some bulilds than others with the amont of endurance it takes to keep all those debuffs, buffs and defenses running.
The complete vulnerability to CC that turns off many of our powers is a bit of a pain too for all but a few builds. -
I loved the T.H.U.N.D.E.R agents. Expecially Dynamo. I think they would make a great TV series. I have borrowed from Dynamo for my signature character. They would be a great group to include in COH too.

I have tried to solo him twice now:
First on a fire/fire tank with 2 snowbeasts helping. I gave up and ended up calling in a friend on his scrapper after a 30 minute stand off.
Then on my earth/storm controller using no temps. He went down in a few minutes. I honestly thought he had been nerfed in the patch that occured between the two.
My conclusion- sufficient holds make a big difference. -
I always thought cap's uniform was chainmail? Why would they change that?

I have actually been noticing that a lot of prices are deflating in the last week. Only the few highly sought after items are going up. The purchasing is focusing on just the very top end items with a few exceptions. There are some good deals on reaonable desirable sets like crushing impact melee damage and scirrocco's PBAOE. Maybe double XP weekend will chang that?

I have quit a few characters that I enjoy, the one that feels most epic of the lot to me is my earth/storm. Unfortunately you have to wait until about level 40 to get the full effect. But man earth quakes, thunderstorms, tornados, gases, freezing rain, and lumpy pounding everything in sight really gives that sense of fury unleashed whan you uncork it all at once.

LOL that could be the title for the next SYFY movie. "Pygmie Women with Small Weiners". Life changing geek confusion could result.
-
That is pretty much how my earth/ storm rolls and it works for me.

I usually take manuevers on my controllers so everybody gets some benifits. I have used the fighting pool on one controller and several blasters though. I find it helps if you have the powers slots to spare. When tough and weave are stacked with some other protections you become pretty durable. Weave is all around defense while Tough is only resistance to smash/ lethal.
Boxng is a quick filler attack that does decent damage with some slotting. Good for that finishing hit on held opponents. It benifits from containment.
When I have taken kick I always used it for a kinectic crash mule to get the knockback protection from the four piece bonus. I still use it as an attack on occasion and it is fun when you kick an opponenet across the room -
I have never even found anyone that would run a match with me. Had to dual box to try it. Way too hands off for my taste. I can see it being fun if it worked something like a miniatures battle. I wonder if going through the trouble of getting rid of it would improve game perfomance in any way?
-
I have been enjoyin my fire/ force field controller. I built it becase I had rarely seen one. Been great fun so far. Manuevers and air superiority help a lot in pre pet levels. I have all the vet attacks too so solo is fast.

I have been playing a game with the 5 mil I was given to bail me out of the hole. I buy recipes with the 5 mil then craft and sell them. I take the five mil back out and repeat. So far that has netted me 300mil in 3 weeks using nothing but the recycled 5 mil. (Oh I also filled all my slots with at least generic IOs).
What can I say. I didn't have the time to farm the five mil up on my own due to rl interference. I can still spare 20 min a night to update my bids though. It lets me at least play a little. Don't understand why someone would whine and not accept a freebie either. -
I found the original thread title combined with your user name to be hillarious. So much for cookies and milk.
