Superhero Hype and Coming Soon just posted some more Cap pics I thought everyone would enjoy...

Just wish they would reveal the Red Skull so we can see how he looks.

The second pic in both links looks like it might be from near the end of the movie, right before that fateful last flight where Cap wound up frozen...

I have to say, they really seem to be hitting it out of the park with the WWII-era look of the film overall.

The captions on scan #3 suggest that this article included a picture of Red Skull with a Cosmic Cube...where is it?

Those dirty gray strappy bits look more terrible every time I see them - they shoud have been blue to match the top. And that star should be a bit bigger, I think.

I like the outfit. It looks super-heroey and yet real. Real and like it's used, without magical pristeen-o power that seems to happen a lot.
When I first heard of the Cap Movie way-way back I thought it would be a self-glorifying farce. Happily, I seem to have wrong footed that one substantially. This genuinely looks good. Now, they just need to make Skull look good

It's not about the size. It's about how you...oh wait, wrong thing...

Clicking on the linked image above will take you off the City of Heroes site. However, the guides will be linked back here.

Don't get me wrong: it's not the dirtiness of the straps that bother me, but rather the way they eyesore-ically interrrupt the blueness.

I always thought cap's uniform was chainmail? Why would they change that?

I've seen it described as chain before, but more often it seems to be depicted as scale armor. I'd love to see them do the outfit like that, but it seems they're trying to keep it closer to military in design.

Because it takes place during WWII, so he's wearing what amounts to a decorated military outfit - a more probable choice than fitting him in brightly colored spandex and scale mail.

Put cap in his comic book outfit on screen and it will look god damn ridiculous.

That's a poor representation of his comic book outfit. A properly done version would look stellar, and probably wouldn't involve spandex - certainly not for the entire thing. As bad as that costume is, though, at least the gloves are red and the blue field on his chest isn't interspersed with gray/white lines for no good reason.

I don't know, I'm not seeing it. It seems like trying to put Wolverine in his yellow and blue costume. It just doesn't seem like it translates well to a live action aesthetic, and it doesn't make any sense besides that. I think a lot of it has to do with the eye-hole mask and the tights - they look silly to me on a real person. So, I much prefer swerving heavily toward more realistic and plausible outfits for live action movies.

Remember this film is set in WWII era. This will not be the final uniform for his modern day Avengers reincarnation after he is inadvertantly fro....

That first outfit and shield are brightly colored as they were made for a USO show. Cap looks like he took the costume from the show and then put on other clothes over it.

For me, it's all going to be about the way Cap and his role in the world is portrayed. If they go with the version they talked about earlier on, they could get the costume 100% perfect and I'll still hate the movie. I'll give it a chance, because I always do, but that will be the deal-breaker for me.

Because chain mail makes no sense in any sort of remotely realistic context. Seriously, stop and think about it. Chain mail weighs way too much compared to any modern armor and it doesn't stop any modern weapon a guy like Cap would need to worry about. Modern movie viewers and comic book readers expect a little more realism than that. Put Cap in chain mail in the movie and it would push the costume from "kind of tough to believe, but I'll give it a chance" to "that's effin' stupid, no one would wear that, what is he, in Lord of the Rings?" territory.

I disagree. Tell me, exactly how much does a Stark™ designed wafer-thin vibranium chainmail weigh?.... hmm?

[insert plausible explanation here].

Thats seemless CGI putting Chris's head on that shorter skinnier body. Red Skull looks nice 'n' nasty and great to see again the interior of that Hydra base in there @0:22 secs - brings back happy memories as I was walking around in there a couple of months ago, and I've gotta say the attention to detail is amazing.

Also, 0:20 secs is Cap with a gun so no reservations about using arms either.

I'd say that's a fair assessment. There's a difference between wearing medieval padded armor and a modern kevlar vest. Technically they're both cloth armor but one will stop a bullet and the other won't. Cap's armor, whether it's chain or scale, has been manufactured with the same sort of comic book technology that let's you inject the proverbial 90 lb. weakling with a drug and expose him to some weird rays and in a matter of minutes turn him into the pinnacle of human physical perfection. Seriously, if the audience can buy the super soldier serum, an indestructible shield, the Red Skull, a cosmic cube, and Hydra's advanced technology then I think it won't be that difficult to convince them that modern materials and manufacturing processes could be used to create some form of armor that is superior to it's medieval counterpart.
