inflation forever?
Well double xp weekend, alpha slots opening further, and I20 coming around the corner, I dont expect prices to fall anytime soon and expect them to continue to rise.
( just like in real life )

Supply and demand will always regulate inflation. There will always be fluctuations up and down. If this game ever adds new major Influence sinks we may see prices take a nosedive. But beyond that I doubt we'll see major changes from what's happening today. *shrugs*

Well rare prices are already starting to fall from their I19 high (not sure about purples, I don't really follow them). LotG 7.5s and the various kinetic combat IOs have all been going down in price for the last few weeks. Similarly rare salvage seems to be dropping and stabilizing which would imply that the rate of AE farming is going back up. Mid level salvage is still pretty pricey so I guess people are still playing thier level 50s more than their alts.

100m for Alch Silver? And here I've only been selling it for 50k. Curses!
With the rate that inf/stuff continues to grow, yes, inflation forever barring some major changes.

I have actually been noticing that a lot of prices are deflating in the last week. Only the few highly sought after items are going up. The purchasing is focusing on just the very top end items with a few exceptions. There are some good deals on reaonable desirable sets like crushing impact melee damage and scirrocco's PBAOE. Maybe double XP weekend will chang that?
However, if you think your time is better spent doing something other than creating a supply of salvage, then you can't complain that prices are too high. The prices are high because people are willing to pay that much rather than get the salvage themselves.
We can argue about whether the devs should make common salvage buyable at stores, but it doesn't work that way now. If everyone who complained in the forums about the cost of salvage instead spent that same time actually providing a supply of said salvage, we might actually see the prices go down...

If the rate of inf generation is higher than the rate of stuff generation, then prices should rise, and vice versa. I think that inflation is really only going to apply to the really high end stuff from here on out, but that opinion and $2 gets you a cup of coffee at your favorite local chain.
Ooh, a sarcasm detector. Oh, that's a *real* useful invention. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/technolog...t-sarcasm.html

Also, I haven't been playing a lot recently so I have no clue what salvage prices are like. Kinda sad that I actually considered that plausible.

It seems to me that there has been substantial price inflation for the past few months. However, I remember a comment made on this forum a while ago that prices tend to follow a pattern of rising every time a big new something happens in the game to attract more players/playtime, and then falling as the game grows stale for some players.
My question is whether you think that substantial price inflation will continue throughout 2011, or will prices reach a plateau or even fall?
