Ghouls Handed me a Smacking

I am playing my first serious Dom thru Praetoria and I just got my first ghoul mish. First, the way they die is beyond creepy. That threw me a bit. Then for some reason, I just couldn't get them to die. At 11 I know there are bigger bads but jeepers.

I would open with mass hypno, tag the one it missed, kill it, then everybody is waking up so take them as necessary. The hypno doesn't seem to last as long, the don't bounce well and if they're close enough to telekinetic thrust they're 2 deep and you're dead. And they are much more effective of ganging up and finding others. You might have to wait for a double aggro elsewhere to fade but Praetoria they just bring more and chew on you.

Is there answer besides teaming? Any? Please? I hate giving up. It irks me.

Damaged can be healed, stupidity -- well .... that's just funny to watch.

Mind/psi, yeah? Confuse is your friend. It won't draw aggro so if you use while they haven't spotted you, you can lay it on thick. Let the mobs splat each other for a while, then finish them off.

Use confuse a lot.

And in the early levels at least Teleport Foe can be your best friend.

Target a baddie, bring him to you, Sleep, hold, or confuse him so he won't hurt you while you destroy him...you can target, then go around a corner and down the hall a bit before bringing him to you. this gives you enough time to put the hurt on him before his buddies come looking...if they come looking. Sometimes they don't

By the time I am level 25 or so though I usually have enough crowd control powers in my Primary/Secondary and respec out of Teleport Foe..or not as I usually have a good time in the Winter Event bringing the Redcaps down from their Ice Ledges to me..

And Teleport Foe also makes getting the Sorcerer badge a snap. Bring the sorcerer to you, Hold him, and kill. Rinse and repeat.

I have gotten three Doms out of Praetoria solo, one being a Mind/Thorns and my hubby got a Mind/Psi out pretty fast...So it can indeed be done.

Good luck

Lisa.

I've managed to get three Doms out of Praetoria: Ice/Ice, Elec/Elec and Gravity/Energy. My advice for Mind/Psi is confuse one, hold another and attack a third, reapplying the mez as you need to. Also, inspirations are useful and easily available.

It's certainly possible to get through Ghouls on a Dominator. It just needs a bit of patience.

I think Praetoria has difficulty adjusters now too so you could try lowering the difficulty. Then there's auto-complete.

Thanks! I'm going to try again, a little less "I'm a Dom kneel b4 me" and a little more caution!

What I did with both my Mind/Fire and Mind/Earth is open with Mass Hypnosis, Confuse #1, Hold #2 and beat on it until confuse is back up then Confuse #3 and finish off #2.

That way when you defeat the #2mob and it wakes up the other two, they'll just attack each other.

If the spawn is 1minion and 1Lt, I don't even bother with Hypnosis. I just confuse the minion and hold/beat down the Lieutenant.

praetorian mobs in general are a few notches tougher than most of the primal areas in the same level range

The AoE heal that a dying ghoul lets out also breaks sleep from the others. Found that on my Mind/Psi through Praetoria. Having the single target sleep helped a lot.

No one pays attention to me, cause I listen to the voices in my head.

Solo, I've also found it handy to get them slept or held and then, assuming you have the option, kb your first bunny away from the rest. Slaughter him in "private" and his pals don't get the leftovers.

Where to find me after the end:
The Secret World - Arcadia - Shinzo
Rift - Faeblight - Bloodspeaker
LotRO - Gladden - Aranelion
STO - Holodeck - @Captain_Thiraas

Obviously, I don't care about NCSoft's forum rules, now.

They are tough for the level they appear and can occur in suprisingly large numbers. I like the challenge of soloing them with my dom with the difficulty turned up to 0 , +4. The best trick I have found is to use movement to spread them into manageable chunks. I hit and run back. Then defeat them as they come forward. Use controls/confuse to spread out and do some damage. When ever they start to pile up move again. My dom is ele/ele so the tactics are a little different but the hit and run trick should work the same.
