Here's a classic situation I've seen repeated over and over again. Join a PuG doing radio or tip missions. After a couple of missions where everything is going smoothly someone makes a suggestion to raise the difficulty. The Diff is raised +3 (or more--testosterone poisoning at its best) and during the next mission there are multiple team wipes. Soon after the team disbands. Rinse and Repeat.
But on a serious note, we have complete control over how difficult our missions are. All the situations you describe above are possible depending upon your difficulty setting. -

I'm honestly curious here. How do you accidentally delete inspirations? When I delete them I must right-click on them and select Delete (or hit D) on the context menu that pops open--I'm not sure how I could do that accidentally. Now, accidentally using an Inspiration (because I hit a function key by mistake) is frustrating.

I thought they were disabled because they caused a drag on the game. The database hit when accessing one of those terminals caused a zone-wide performance hit. So they were disabled. I might be wrong. I liked them as well.

Indeed! The UG is my favorite iTrial. And having a good group of friends to League with to do it really makes it enjoyable.

Just piping in with my normal rant that my characters make these choices based primarily on concept. I don't look at the numbers. Same with my Lore pets.

Along with all the great ones above:
1) Never train or slot new enhancements while on a team or trial.
Asking the team to wait while you train or buy new enhancements is just plain rude. Their time is just as valuable as your time. -
Oh good, a thread I can vent about the idiotic detectives in *deep breath*
Why are detectives auto-selected when you enter a zone for the first time? Even though I had a mission selected that sent me to that zone when I took the tram there. I love traveling half way to the detective before I realize it's not the mission door I wanted to head to.
Why is there a Detectives tab in contacts that is completely useless because all the detectives are also listed in your Active Contacts tab? With no option to remove the detectives from the Active tab?
There, that feels better. -
You're not stuck with whatever Lore option you choose. I have 3 different Lore pet options on one of my characters. For me, concept is what determines which Lore pet options I pick.

Worst thing about deleting a 50 is cashing out all their IO's (with a respec), then deleting them before realizing you forgot to email your main the 500 million INF you had on them.

Quote:Really? I find Tanking to be VERY stressful. Keeping aggro, leading the team into battles, dealing with mobs that get pulled into the fight unexpectedly, etc. I admit I love playing a Blaster because I can move in and out of range while attacking the whole time, while the Tank deals with mob control and aggro.(my second favorite AT is tanker which is relaxing - just wade in and knock them down mindlessly).

Quote:Yes, because the UG is just a horrible grind that we suffer through ONLY for the reward at the end. I must be a freak because I love the UG trial, win or lose, on its own merits.Yes, I know someone who rage-boycotted UG for over a month after grinding through a successful undergroundtrial(with no disconnects or afks) and was given an uncommon for her efforts

And to the OP. Random means random. -
Specifically, when the caster of a Ouro portal enters their portal it interrupts nearby Mission/Base/Tiki Room portals. When other people enter that Ouro portal it's fine. It's when the caster of that Ouro portal enters it that the interruption of other portals happens.
In consideration of other people casting portals nearby, if you've just opened an Ouro portal please don't go through it until they complete their portal casting. -
Quote:I don't have a single character with a full io set! But somehow I iTrial with Wendy several times a week and have never had issues at all.The only thing that catches my eye on that note was "full io sets needed."
Some League leaders do whatever they can to make sure their league won't fail. I appreciate the pressure some of them put themselves under (I hate League leading). But it can drive them to make silly requests like this. And that just makes me laugh. -
Now if only I could tolerate the sound effects of Sonic. It's the one blaster set (I'm a blaster fanatic) that I can't get past the teens before the power sound effects drive me up the wall.

Special note on Jim Temblor's level 15 Faultline arc: After you complete the arc ask him for a new contact (it doesn't matter who you take). But then ask him again for a new contact to get the Penny Yin arc which I really love.
Doc Delilah's arc at level 20 followed by the Agent G arc are also recommended.
Oh, and do the Montague Castanella arc while in your teens to get access to the Midnighter's Club prior to 20. So that you can do Mercedes Sheldon's story arcs at level 20 (she is in the Steel Midnighter's Club).
I also like to hit Striga Island at 20 to get Stephanie Peebles' arc, which leads to Tobias Hansen who gives some good Council arcs so you can ultimately earn the Atlas Medallian (Slayer and Silver Bullet badges). -

There is no reason to try and do everything with a single character--as if you even could without shutting off XP constantly so you don't out level stuff. To me one of the greatest aspects to CoX is in the joy of creating alternate characters (Altitus anyone?). There are so many different ATs with endless powerset combinations that there are still many powerset combos I haven't even tried in over 7 years of playing.
A simple answer to your question has already been address by posters above. But in a nutshell: Explore. Use the Find Contact option. And don't worry about missing any content, as it will still be there for your Alts.
