  1. Sometimes when things are busy in the game animations misfire or characters get locked in a stance when they move. Usually these instances aren't noticeable enough to become annoying. Lately it seems to be happening almost every time one of my blasters uses a ranged power after moving.

It feels like animations are out of sync with the game lately. My elec/elec blaster has powers with different cast times, some melee and some ranged. Usually I can hop around the map and rarely have animation glitches. When I played him a few days ago I noticed a lot of animation errors.

Could this be a side effect of lag (I haven't noticed any lately) or has something crept in with the last build?

    Dirty Traitors

Last night I did the "prove yourself to Marcus Valerius" mission with my DA/Ice. Settings were 0/3/boss/no av.

It was veeerryyy painful. I felt like a regen scrapper on a bad day. I didn't think I would have too much trouble because his armor is mostly res. I now know how much I have been relying on the control powers of Ice melee and they don't usually work on Cimerorans.

So after a faceplant or two plus some humble pie i stealthed to the target and called out a wolf and a snowman and wiped him and his cronies out. I then hunted Romans until my pets died than i said adios to Cimerora.

I'll fight them again sometime when my shields are slotted up more and I need something challenging.
  3. Okay I took death shroud and it's fine. Thanks for the responses. If this tank was part of a static team I may have taken it earlier. I take taunt much earlier on my toons who are mostly for teaming. On most i take it in the 20s.
  4. Hi I have a DA/Ice tanker about 1/2 level from 35 and was wondering which power to take at that level.

    Dark Armor:
Have: Dark Embrace, Murky Cloud, Obsidian Shield, Dark Regeneration, Cloak of Darkness, Oppressive Gloom.
Don't Have: Death Shroud, Cloak of Fear, Soul Transfer.

    Ice Melee:
Have all except Greater Ice Sword and Frozen Aura. I plan to take Frozen Aura at 38.

Others: inherents and Sands of Mu, (Blackwand soon), swift, health, stamina. combat jumping, and super jump. (have kb proc instead of acrobatics).

I didn't take COF because Ice patch and OG handle things quite well and i didn't want another control toggle. Soul Transfer or Hurdle could be useful but i would rather have an attack.

That leaves Greater Ice Sword and Death Shroud. I've read that GIS isn't a very heavy hitter so I am reluctant to take it. Death Shroud grinds away at enemies and helps maintain aggro but is an end hog.

For APP I'm open to any but will go either Arctic Mastery or Energy Mastery.

So what is your opinion of GIS versus DS? How many slots for either?

    Thanks.
  5. Ah, thanks for the reply. I must have bad luck with Romans.
  6. ... using walk while underwater in that Cimerora map? I want to try that.
  7. Cimerora Mission: "Accept Marcus' task to prove yourself" from Marcus Valerius. I wish the devs would tweak the mission so that the second ambush doesn't trigger at the same time as the cutscene. I have had squishies defeated or seroiusly mangled because my screen was locked into the boss rant.
  8. Oh, all my WP tanks take Strength Of Will - and so far none have taken Resurgence. SOW is a great panic power.
For attacks that take End mods - I am finding that 2 Efficacy Adaptor give + health and whittles away the end of foes.
Combat jumping - 1 generic jump is fine or two Serendipity for +regen
I usually take Swift with Super Jump - other wise running feels very slow - you can add hurdle later.
  9. A couple of points: Except for Mind Over Body the early WP powers should be taken as soon as they show up.
HPT = +max hp and resist dam - put at least 3 heals in there - I usually use generic IO's for the auto powers. 3 heal/3 dam res. - good spot for steadfast res/def
MOB - take it in late teens - I use cheap sets like Titanium Coating.
    Fast healing - 3 heals.
Indom Will - a cheap def set eventually - end redux first - take asap - its your mez protection,
Quck Recovery - take as soon as it shows up - you'll be thankful for it. 3 end mod.
Rise to the challenge - take asap - it will save your butt. end redux and heals - later on numinas (3) is nice some add a taunt to help.
Heightened senses - early 20s is better. Taunt I usually take in the early 20s. I do take Health and Stamina in the 20s - 3 generic IOs each.
So far I've never taken Tough and Weave on a tank. WP is pretty tough on it's own - but it depends on your playstyle.
Ancillaries? I have taken Pyre mastery on my two top WP tanks the hold is nice as is Melt Armor.
As for Elec Melee - I have a 30sih Ice tank with ELM and only have the first 6 powers so far. It starts slow but gets better.
  10. Yes, the base rent system is a pain. I have one main base to maintain but am a member in other sgs on various servers. Base rent issues get confusing after a while.

I would set it up like real world rents.

1st of month = rent due.
5th of month = no power if rent is unpaid.
15th of month = no base access if rent is unpaid.

If you paid the rent on the 30th you would still owe on the next 1st.

    Help with Floors

I know the floor sections are quite sensitive to nearby objects. The worse culprits for me seem to be floor torches too close to the edge. I suggest moving what you can a bit further away from the section and possibly checking nearby wall based items.
  12. Acid Melee - toxic + smashing damage with a bit of -def.
    Powers like:
Acid Punch - a quick 1-2 punch like barrage.
Quick Slime - a push/slap that may cause knockdown. Damage is DOT.
Acid Spit - Vahz vomit style.
    Acid Cloud - a taunt/damage aura toggle.
    etc.

    Champion Broken?

For me only Protector showed grey but the server status says that server and champ. &^%$ I was in the process of clicking on the last relic in Percy's Origins arc.
  14. 1. Is there any trick to make the trees and bushes appear to grow out of the floor? ( I have the Mikazi gravel style colored green, which looks very similar to grass ) I'm going for a wilderness look, and potted bushes and trees just arent quite what I'm looking for...
    ---
You can raise a floor section and slide a tree or bush along the lower floor and stay at the level of the lower floor. You need to change your view point to looking up from below or the tree will pop up on the raised section. I made a fish pond this way with blue miyuki gravel, small stone blocks, and potted plants poking up through the "water". Positioning the plants was a pain though.
-- Another idea is to make a low wall to hide a tile raised slightly above the planters' containers. Cover the tile with dirt from the 'room details' tab.

    Would You Buy...

    ...Base Booster Packs?

"Base Booster Packs" would be available from the game store and consist of a code that opens up a tab in the base editor (Account wide). The packs would give base builders cool stuff for bases and give the devs some more cash.

An example pack could be: "Base Booster Pack 1: Japanese" and include the items from the "tattoo parlor" mission.

    Items:

    Screen-Japanese 1 - the room divider screens.
Screen-Japanese 2 - the ones with paintings (if they are not separate).
    Painting-Japanese 1
    Painting-Japanese 2
    Statue-Tsoo Idol
    Table
    Bowls
    Sword 1
Sword 2 - laying on the floor
    Plant-bamboo
    ---
The above items are the ones I remember. A hibatchi and/or japanese fireplace would be nice too.
    ---
I would pay $9.99 for the example pack and maybe higher for bigger packs. How about you?
  16. Willpower is a fun set that works with many secondaries. I have WP/WM. WP/Fiery Melee, WP/SS tanks and a Spines/WP scrapper. All of them are fun to play and very durable.

My favourite - so far - is WP/Fire. It has cool looking /fast attacks and packs a punch. Toasting vilains is fun!
  17. I was thinking solo/small team activities for the next Winter Event.

    1. Presents generate random missions. You click on a present and have a chance of getting a popup that says "You found a present for (current zone contact) he (or she) would probably like it delivered." When you deliver the present the contact says thanks and gives you 2 candy canes. (There could be an ambush related to this).

    2. During the Winter Event there are seasonal appropriate scanner/newspaper missions. Players could recover/steal presents (as appropriate), rescue party goers, and so on. (Possibly these missions would generate less inf/prestige but give candy canes.)

    What do you think?
  18. Overall it was fun but i have some issues with it.
    1. Having team orientated activities is fine but the new content needs multiple teams to complete. This is okay at peak times on most servers but limits the fun. (Getting enough people for Halloween banners was difficult).

    2. The GM in the new mini-zone is rough on lowbies/smaller teams. A villain team spawned the GM/present and went to the zone. The minions were doable but the GM's northern lights(?) wiped the team quickly. We were 6 villains topping at lev 25.

    3. I wish presents used the rikti scaling method. This would make candy cane hunts harder but prevent the crap-shoot we have now. My level 23 FA/Stone was doing presents around Spanky's Boadwalk. The snowmen ranged from 20 to 27 and some fights were impossible. Villainside we found the snowmen to multiply not in numbers(due to us being on a team) but difficulty - clicking on a present away from the group was a death sentence and even in the group we usually faced purples. This wasn't much fun.

    4. Getting candycanes from mobs is great. This makes present hunting more fun and is a nice boost to doing BNY again.

    5. It would be nice if there were some solo friendly mini missions associated with the event.

    Soloing Posi

Interesting comments. Thanks for replying everyone.
  21. Gromar was my first tank and is ice/axe. I took it and slotted the Impervium Armour set for psi etc. The recharge/slow resist does help.

I need to do a respec and I will probably keep the power.

    Soloing Posi

I hadn't planned on doing a solo Positron TF - especially on a Kheld. I filled for a friend who wanted to solo the tf and later found out he had abandoned it. I decided to try a mission and see what my pb was like.

My friend had bailed after trying mission two (?)(with the COT) so started there and nearly quit after going to the hospital a few times. I used my base's empowerment tables, and built up resistances and changed my tactics. I could have raided insp storage but didn't want to 'waste' any large ones on a possible lost cause. I completed the mission and went on to complete the tf in a few hours (99.59.59 hours because the clock counted the offline days too ).

I didn't die every mission but it was painful - i hate Vahz spit!

    Some notes:

    What helped?

Higher level - level 40 - so many slots for inspirations.
    - Atlas medallion.
    - stealth proc in sprint.
    - knowledge of empowerment stations and enough inf/salvage to use them.
    - good selection in the insp storage although I only used presents/large insp in the last mission.

    What hurt?

-I'm used to playing tri-form - switching on the fly. Not having dwarfform took some getting used to.
-My only heal was Essence Boost. I hadn't slotted it up a lot and use the other heals more. There wasn't enough recharge.
The tf cap bug (I think). I was level 14 throughout but my foes ranged from 13-16 on "0-1-nobosses-noAV" and I still got lots of bosses.

    ---
So it was fun over all and I did it and may do it again. Have you soloed Posi with a Kheld?

    Sewer Layout

I inherited a small 2 member base on Freedom. My sole character was in it to invite a friends alts. I checked the base after a year and ended up boss. I decided to play with ideas that didn't fit my main base so I gave it a sewer theme. It's very small and seems cramped like sewer map. I plan to post screenshots on a blog when I have time. I could also give a tour.
  24. The game has crashed during long edit sessions but I have another possibly related issue too. It usually goes like this: I do some editing and/or a lot of interacting with salvage racks or enhancement tables and then switch to another character. That character tries to enter the base and I get a "lost connection to map" or similar message and the game crashes.

Most of the time I don't have to use the task manager to stop the game and when I restart the game it doesn't verify the files.

Today, for example, I was playing my base leader and cleaned out an enhancement table and filled it with candy canes for a lowbie to get winters gift recipes. Nothing seemed laggy or peculiar but when I switched toons and tried to enter the base the game crashed.

This doesnt happen all of the time but it is consistant enough to be noticable. Would this be part of the 'memory leak' problem?
  25. I saw this thread and checked my two Invulnerability toons. My scrapper with fx turned off doesn't have the sound problem and I played for a few missions with no problems.

My tanker has the original fx and has this. I didn't play long enough to test the stability issue I couldn't stand the sound. I sent in a bug report.
