Noob Base Builder Questions
Q#1 - IDK - I've never had this problem, but it's been quite a while since I moved or added teleporters.
Q#2 - Stacking. Check out this thread (stickied at the top of this forum):
http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=126436 (Issue 13 Stacking Tools)
Personally, I prefer using Floor Safes to the Lamps.
Also - any item under the "Desks" tab of the editor can have items placed on top of it.
Finally, stacker used to do classes - send him a PM to see if he is willing to do any more.
Q#3 - Not that I am aware of. The Entry room is composed of 2 squares by 2 squares. Doorways attach always directly to one of those squares and not in the middle of both of them (which is what it would have to do to "center" them).
Q#4 - I'm not sure I understand the question. I have been able to avoid gaps by carefully stacking and overlapping pieces. It takes practice.

Question 1:
I crafted a teleporter and placed 2 beacons nearby and they binded to the teleporter correctly. Then, I deleted both beacons, added 2 new ones, and they refuse to bind to the teleporter. I re-added the original 2 beacons, they also refuse to bind. Is this a known bug - if you remove beacons, the teleporter is rendered unusable from that point on? Or is there some trick to get it to reassociate to new beacons? Question 2: I've tried to get items to stack like I've seen people mention in some threads, with no luck. Are there only certain item combinations that will stack? Is there a list? Question 3: Is there some way to get a long hallway from the entrance room to another room that is "centered"? The connector always wants to go either right or left. Question 4: How do you get a ramp to correctly adjoin to a raised portion of the room without losing the "edge". I currently can either leave a small gap to keep the edge or adjoin which leaves a bare section to either side which has a "tech" look. |
Question 1:
I have never had this issue so it might be something with how your placing the beacons I will let someone with lot more expertise explain that.
Question 2:
Yes only certian items are "stackable" but there are many tricks that we use to stack the "unstackable" items. I belive that anyting under the desk tab is stackable. Safes are stackable and so are the oriental looking lamps (I don't remember their name) A Floor title is stackable as well but has no depth to it but it can be pulled up stacks of safes or lamps then things can be placed on it the tilte deleted and the things stay floated. See stackers things on Youtube or the links are in his signature for lessons on how to do these things.
Question 3:
You can not center between two room blocks sorry but can't be done. though you can center it so it drops center into another room
Question 4:
having a slight gap is okay, you will walk over it but if you don't like that gap look you can change the wall. Under Pick Style go to low wall and pick what you want to show.
I hope this has answered all of your questions you can always PM me or send me a tell in game @lovebug and I will be more than happy to help you out.

You should not have to craft a new telepad every time you want to shuffle beacons.
Also, where are you trying to place the beacons? You may be trying to place them in a place where they're intersecting with the telepad bounding box. If you're trying to place them on the wall behind the telepad, this is probably what's happening. You'll need to slide the telepad forward a bit to make room.
Additionally, are these tech or arcane? If tech, you may want to try temporarily floating a cubicle so that it intersects with with front pillars of the telepad and use the cubicle wall to mount the beacons flush to the pillars. Hit up the Base Builder channel and someone can show you how it's done. Or shoot me a PM and I'll give you a quickie tutorial.

Thanks for all the info. It turned out I was trying to mix tech beacons with arcane teleporters. Could have sworn it worked before, but I could be wrong...
A couple more questions:
1. Is there any trick to make the trees and bushes appear to grow out of the floor? ( I have the Mikazi gravel style colored green, which looks very similar to grass ) I'm going for a wilderness look, and potted bushes and trees just arent quite what I'm looking for...
2. Any way to make a pool of water ... or something that appears to be a pool of water?
3. Is there anything similar to Jay's costume request thread for base items that you'd like to see added? Or are they even working on base items any more?

1. There is a way and you have to elivate your floors to the first level in order to "slide" your tree into the floor I have never tried this though.
2. pool of water is made by your floor colored blue and floating a slow field this must be done in a room however that you can put a slow field into, it is a defensive item.
3. Yes it is stickied to the top somewhere of this forum though last I head those item we want for bases have taken a back seat because of Rouge and the heavy graphics work they are doing there in order to make the bases work even. You can read the list and add to it if you want though. We can always keep wishing

---
You can raise a floor section and slide a tree or bush along the lower floor and stay at the level of the lower floor. You need to change your view point to looking up from below or the tree will pop up on the raised section. I made a fish pond this way with blue miyuki gravel, small stone blocks, and potted plants poking up through the "water". Positioning the plants was a pain though.
-- Another idea is to make a low wall to hide a tile raised slightly above the planters' containers. Cover the tile with dirt from the 'room details' tab.
Ok, another question. I just spent most of my prestige on rooms. Outside the base, I have 2k prestige left. When I enter the base, it says I have -485k ( negative ). What is up with that?

Reboot your computer. I think it is a bug and every so often I get that I either reboot the game or my computer and it fixes it.
