Base rent - due every two weeks?

My small SG base is rather new - started this past December.
The rent is 400 prestige a month based on the 4 storage items I have in there.

When I logged on during the end of Jan I would see the message saying 400 prestige rent is due by Feb 1st. I paid the rent on 31 Jan at the NPC in City Hall, where I first established the base, with my SG leader hero.
Logged in the next day (Feb 1st) and no "rent due" messages, so all is well.

Now when I log on it says 400 prestige rent is due by 15 Feb.

What the???
Rent is due every two weeks now?
Is this a bug?

I think it might be . Have you tried again since it told you that rent was due again ? If this keeps happening then send a tic to the dev's . That is so weird .

Pay the rent when the power goes out. In this way, you will only pay every six weeks.

And that was your mistake. Please note, the rent system is idiotic. Here's how it works.

You get the message, rent is due February 1, 12:05 PM.
1. If you pay BEFORE that time, you end up paying rent every two weeks.
2. If you pay AFTER that time, even by a single minute, you end up paying every four weeks.
3. If you wait until two weeks beyond that time and let them cut the power, you pay every six weeks.

Please note, that 'rent due' date/time is accurate TO THE MINUTE. I make a note of it so that I know to pay AFTER the power cut-off time. Pay the rent just 1 minute after they cut the power and you pay every six weeks.

Holy cow does that sound like a really stupid system.
Silly me for thinking I was doing the right thing.

No wonder I didn't get into base building until now.
And I've been plunking away with CoH since July 2004.

Geesh.

Thanks for the info fellas.

Yes, the base rent system is a pain. I have one main base to maintain but am a member in other sgs on various servers. Base rent issues get confusing after a while.

I would set it up like real world rents.

1st of month = rent due.
5th of month = no power if rent is unpaid.
15th of month = no base access if rent is unpaid.

If you paid the rent on the 30th you would still owe on the next 1st.

Yep. Ignore the messages entirely. When you come back to the board asking why your teleporters suddenly don't seem to work, that's when you pay the rent!

Here is what I do Gunn Tharr.. Wait 14 days past the due date they send. Paying on that day ensures the power never shuts off so your members never go to base and discover teleporters, workbenches, etc don't work. Using this method, as mentioned, also extends the deadline before it's due again you end up making about 8 or 9 rent payments a year instead of 26 (once every 2 weeks). Thisd frees up a lot more prestige for plot upgrades, added strorage, etc.

Of course at this point all the SGs I help lead, and serve as base archetect/designer have over a million in prestige and have everything necessary so we figured we have enough to pay rent for about 40 years. LOL

You can pay the rent in Galaxy City, too.

MAYBE.
Paying two weeks past the due date isn't good enough. Paying on that day might result in paying every 4 weeks or it might be every 6 weeks. As I said, the due date is accurate TO THE MINUTE. If you pay 1 minute before they cut the power, you pay every 4 weeks. If you pay 1 minute after they cut the power, you pay every 6 weeks.

It's really not even worth waiting so long anymore. I pay rent now just to get rid of the message. Rent is a pittance these days.

Thanks Ironblade. I had the same thing happen to me. Thanks for explaining it.

(shrug) I have bids out on Kinetic Combat recipes in the 30 - 50 million range and I'll still wait overnight to get a good price on a 5,000 inf piece of salvage. It irks me to pay the rent any more often than necessary.
