Quote:/think would be cool.I've wanted a way to add "Later, in Metropolis" or similar captions for ages...
I would also love if we could separate actions and thoughts so that when someone emotes "takes a drink" or some other action it doesn't show up as a thought bubble. It would be cool if it showed up as a square to the side of the character instead. "Superman kisses Lois Lane" - well, you get the idea.
Then thought bubbles could be made exclusive for actual thinking. Maybe with a /think command. -
Quote:Ok, first: What's with the negative rep? I saw your rep bar as green before you made this thread, and now you make a great suggestion and you get neg'd?! Considering the generally positive feedback in this thread itself, I have to wonder what someone could have said in the comment field . . .
*attempts to help fix that*
I really like your suggestion, and I think that even if we had to jump through some in-game hoops to achieve the unlock, I'd be fine with it. Perhaps run a mission at level 40 along the lines of the Cape/Aura missions where you earn yourself the right to use a wider variety of titles.
Uhm just curious, do you realize that someone may have given him bad rep for something said in another thread? Before the devs turned off our ability to see rep comments I had someone pull up posts over a year old just to make comments. -
Quote:The Doppelganger arcs gave me an idea - we now have a new passive channel that's used to simulate the communications you're getting through your earpiece, but it's not by default readable in chat {though you can add it manually - it's the one with the blank label}.
So, an offhand suggestion - add another channel, with the Local-ish range or lower, that shows up in chat bubbles, but not {by default} in the chat, and adjust the battle cries and other flavor text to show up there instead of local.
That way players would be able to spam inane {though entertaining} combat banter without clogging up the possibly important stuff in chat windows with it.
Just want to point out that we can't force players to use one channel over another. If superjerk wants to blather on and interfere with communications the only thing we can do to stop him is put him on ignore or if he's doing it in Team chat boot him for being disruptive.
I've lost count of the number of times I've seen people politely ask others to take their conversation to private or local channels and they got told off and berated for it.
I'm assuming the parties aren't saying anything petitionable. -
In before someone tells the OP to buy a copy of the game from Amazon for $5 bucks.
And the return tell idea has been mentioned before several times but no idea if the devs are giving it serious consideration. -
Was that the thread where people were suggesting that they give Statesman breasts?

1) How often do you PuG instead of grouping within your SG or friends?
Between soloing, friends, and pugs, I'd say teaming with friends and pugs is 50/50.
2) How often do you group with friends and fill the rest of the group with PuGs?
I avoid the star like the plague so I rarely have this concern.
3) How often do your PuG members do what you feel needs to be done without being told to do so?
As long as they are trying to help complete the mission I don't care much about how they participate. Of course "help" is open to interpretation.
4) How often do you find yourself telling PuG members what you feel they should be doing (for the good of the current team/session)?
The only time I make comments like that is when someone is mooching or doing blatantly stupid things.
5) How often do you find yourself adding PuG members to your friends/global friends, and if those lists are full, using other methods of remembering them?
Rarely if ever. I'd have to really hit it off with someone to put them on my friends list. More likely I'll get an operator to invite them to one of the Global Channels I'm in.
6) How often do you group with complete jerks in a PuG?
It's not an uncommon experience, but for a long time now I've been participating in the "Rude Tells" thread and I've learned a lot about how to handle jerks without losing my temper from this dude named Psychoti, and I'd like to think that doing so has made me a better team mate/player. -

Let's see It's possible the girl's illusion abilities were far more powerful than anyone could have guessed and her imaginary friend actually became self aware and became real. In which case I'd call it a Mutant.
If the lifeform the girl befriended was actually an intelligence that lived out of phase with our world and her powers breached the veil between both worlds then the origin may very well be Natural as it is merely one of an entire species in it's own world.
As Aggelakis offered it could also be Magic.
Then again using the idea that the intelligence was somehow out of phase with our world it could also be possible that it used some sort of mechanical device to breach the veil between worlds and cross over to our world which would result in a Science or Tech origin. -

Quote:Hello Thread.
I would like to request a monstrous beast booster. I was hoping to have this in the mutation pack, but while extremely beautiful and awesome looking the costume pieces look it is not what I was looking for.
Here is some Mutant Pack Screen Shots if you haven't seen it yet.
When thinking of mutants the two top hero/super hero animations/comics come to mind, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and X-Men. I can't think of any two more iconic mutant media, can you? Among the x-men we have only a few things really defining them in appearance from traditional ordinary super powered heroes. You have the odd natural weapons like Wolverine and Saber Tooth, and then you have the inhuman looking creatures such as Beast and Night Crawler (yes I know he isn't pure human, but his appearance is like that of a mutant).

This latter trait is shared in more common with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles with their, almost, purely human hybrid animal characters. To say the least this is what I expected with the mutant pack but hey, its not like we can demand a re-name and a different mutant pack.

So while I really like the current mutant pack, could we please get a booster pack that is more in line with this? Is anyone else interested?
Kudos on the way you presented this suggestion. You presented your disappointment without sounding like a complaint.
I support this suggestion and would like to add that we may get lucky and the devs might include some of the things being requested as part of a regular free issue. -
I'd like to second this sentiment and add that I'm not surprised that there are people that are once again upset that something the devs have released didn't live up to their overactive imaginations.

Quote:FP Just addressing what was said.
That's a completely separate issue that can be resolved by removing the list of powers tab from player information.
Not a big binder person can you show me how that would be done?
Someone else explained the bind/macro thing but this last part would be an issue the devs would need to address. I'm not a programmer but it's my uneducated opinion (which could easily be wrong) that it would be easier for them to remove that power tab than to write god knows how much code that would allow us to rename our powers.
I happen to loathe and despise build nazi's and would love it if I could prevent them from seeing the powers I've chosen. -
Listen to the Munki. He has a gun.

Quote:So what's stopping you from creating a bind or macro that says the name you want to call your power when you activate it? Oh that's right nothing is stopping you from doing that.B. To say its pointless just says to me my style of play has no reason to be here so get out!

Quote:You bring up another valid point. I can easily see someone coming in from another game and trying to make (for example) a dedicated "healer" by choosing Empathy/Empathy and then after getting pissed when he discovers how badly that combination sucks, quitting and blaming the game for his own stupidity. This is the story as I was told it: way, way back in the early early pre-beta days of the game, there were no archetypes and powers were available a la carte. The problem that they ran into wasn't so much min-maxers building super-builds - although I'm sure that happened - but more that many players who weren't well versed in the mechanics would simply pick out powers that looked interesting and end up with characters that couldn't do anything. ATs were partially designed to prevent tankmages, but more importantly they were also designed to force players into minimally functional builds.
Of course, the devs back then also had a much lower bar for "minimally functional" than we would ever accept today. -
Just wanted to say that I pretty much agree with everything Aett, Dechs, and Spit have said. However I would like to add that I think being able to mix and match powersets from AT's would lead to less diversity as build nazi's would seek out the ulitimate minimax in sets.

When choosing a name one of the things I consider is the characters biography. If the character is the patriotic type then I'd lean more to Stalwart Guardian, but if the character is the victim of a crime and the justice system failed to punish the guilty parties, then I'd lean more towards the Dusk Revenger.

Quote:They seem to pop up every few months or so, and I figure we're a bit overdue.
I was playing around and made myself a brand new Energy/Energy blaster today. Managed to snag the name "Blast Hazard" on my first try.
So, what names have you picked up recently that you're particularly proud of, or just names that you can't believe you managed to snag?
About 1-2 weeks ago I was having a discussion with another player about this very topic. His position was that some names just aren't suitable for use s a hero/villain and posted "Armature Buttress" as an example of an unsuitable name.
My position was that there are plenty of names still available and to prove my point I looked up the definitions words he used in his example and created an electricity generating character concept and now Armature Buttress is fighting crime on Virtue.
When I posted my new character in that thread with the definitions to explain the concept, the gentleman I was talking to got a laugh out of it and gave me a pat on the back for my creativity.
All in all a pleasant ending to what is usually a sensitive topic. -
