How many rikti make a merit?

How many rikti does one have to defeat in order to earn a Vanguard merit? Is relative level important? Does one earn merits faster as one's level increases? Any knowledge anyone has on this topic is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

It's a random drop chance. 10% to be precise.

If you get that chance on a minion, it's 1 merit. On a lieutenant, 2. On a boss or higher, 3.

This is only if they con at least Green, of course.

If you take part in a Rikti Ship Raid, each Rikti there grants the appropriate merits upon defeat, 100% chance.

Other ways: RWZ contact missions grant 1 merit upon completion.
Parking in the RWZ grants the dayjob Vanguard Recruit, which gives you a bonus of 1 vanguard merit for completing any mission. After getting the badge for it (15 days worth of logged off time), charging that day job instead grants 2 Vanguard Merits per mission. The dayjob merits will stack with RWZ mission complete merits, for a maximum possible 3 Vanguard Merits per mission complete.

And of course, in order to earn any vanguard merits at all via defeats, you must have the Member of Vanguard badge.

You must remain logged out at any Day Job Location for 21 Days, not 15, in order to get the badge. You must log in at 21 days and log out to start the process of "charging" your DJ Power such as the increase in merit rewards from Vanguard Recruit. Any logged off time exceeding 21 days is lost and does not count towards charging until you actually log in, get the badge, and then log out from the location.

Edit: The best advice I can give for you is to check downstream on the forums here and find your Server's Forum. Look into joining Global Chat Channels and look to see when Mother Ship Raids are being run. MS Raids are the easiest and highest yield for gaining Vanguard Merits.

(Example: On Guardian on Tuesday nights, there are 2 back to back MS Raids. I average about 300 VM per run, so about 5-700 per night. YMMV)

Yes - none of the contacts will work with you if you are under 35, so no "Member of Vanguard" badge.

On a raid, every member of a team gets ONE merit for each Rikti that any team member does at least one point of damage to, regardless of rank. The only exception is U'kon Gr'ai, who gives 2 Reward Merits, and never drops Vanguard Merits.
