Yet another name thread!

They seem to pop up every few months or so, and I figure we're a bit overdue.

I was playing around and made myself a brand new Energy/Energy blaster today. Managed to snag the name "Blast Hazard" on my first try.

So, what names have you picked up recently that you're particularly proud of, or just names that you can't believe you managed to snag?

I feel like I always get good names. I recently wandered over to a more-populated server to join some friends, decided to make a Fire/Dark Tanker, wanted an exotic name that evoked smoke and flame, and tried a few variations before blundering into Djinni. That's right, not Flame Djinni or <Color> Djinni, but the root word itself, a single-word superhero name, spelled correctly. The whole episode took about three minutes of thinking and entering names.

edit: And the definition of Djinni is "a spirit of smoke and flame."

I was quite surprised to get the name "Underbolt" for a new elec/dark brute I came up with recently. Funnily enough, it only dawned on me a couple of days later that the name involved a pun. Sometimes my brain works strangely.

Recently on Virtue I snagged Overdraft which I don't really have any plans for atm, but which would make a good Storm Controller.

Same server I snagged Wind-Up Doll, which I'm saving to use for a Kinetic Scrapper when GR arrives.

None of these are the greatest names ever, I don't want to sound my trumpet too loudly, but I like them:

I'm still very happy that I got Staff Chick on Virtue a few months ago, in preparation for Staff Scrappers or Brutes (because I am incurably optimistic). I figured for sure it'd be taken, considering the familiarity I've seen expressed for TV Tropes. (Staff/Regen is the plan, and I'll get Heal Other too, with a bind like "Tell anyone of this, and SO HELP ME I'LL....")

Also rather surprised, though not extremely, that I got Wind Monk on Virtue back when we had those free transfers. Her former name Dreamstrike was of course taken, but that one was available and actually fits her better.

I have both Blood of the Sacred and Blood of the Damned on Virtue. Both are pretty long so I'm not exactly amazed they were available, but I was pleased to get them.

I wanted the name Silent Force, and it was taken on several servers, but available on Justice, so I snagged it for a Fire/Storm Corruptor.

Relatedly, I checked a few weeks ago out of curiosity, and was amused to find that Primal was taken on all servers. Only the one on Triumph is mine.

Of course, I have a great many characters whose names I'd be utterly astounded to find actually taken. I like digging around online to find cool names in foreign languages, Arabic and Swahili especially have some nice rhythm to them, and they're basically untapped.

What have I made up recently....

Cosmique (which wasn't surprising.)
Full Metal Jackie (which is about the only Dual Pistol name I've been happy with, and it's punny.)
Devil's Herd (which kind of surprised me, it seems somewhat obvious with the demon MMs around.)

I've created more than that recently... Not surprised at some of them being free (really, who's going to use the Finnish name of the Milky Way?) but none have taken a heck of a lot of effort to get.

Several months ago, I made a mental dominator, and was able to take the name "Mind Control" on Freedom of all places. Haven't played her since.

Snagged Tiltawhirl and Nanaca Crash on Virtue. One's gonna be a carnie-themed bouncer scrapper. The other one's a tank. Dunno which one's which yet.

Also picked up The Obtenebrist on Virtue, perfect for my dark/dark pulpthemed scrapper.

Some of the best I have had lately.

I recently picked up Operative and Mermaid, as well as Soviet on Freedom. Still debating on the Powers to use for Mermaid and Soviet, but Operative looks like she'll be a double agent Arachnos Bane Spider who works in Paragon City once Going Rogue releases.

Dark Ring Mistress for a Dark/Psy Defender I'm planning for GR. (Sadly, I don't have the Ring Mistress costume code to go with her. )

I still can't believe I managed to snag "Not A Nemesis Plot" a while back.

I have "Captain Fulcrum" reserved for my Kinetic Melee Scrapper. He'll be a Captain Falcon homage. He'll have to get a macro to yell "Fulcrum Punch!" when he attacks.

I also got "Major Redraw Issues" for my DP/TA Corr after I prepurchsed GR. She'll be taking Mace Mastery for her PPP.

I wouldn't call 'em "best names ever" but I like all of 'em and am always mildly surprised to find any one-word name open on Virtue.

I waited to make a Demon Summoning character for about three weeks after the set was available. Ready to run through a list of names with little hope, I was surprised to find that "Doctor Abyss" was free. On Virtue no less!

Snagged "Cranial Trauma" for a Mind/Energy Dominator.

Got "Arc Velocity" for my eventual Elec/Kin Controller (or possibly Elec/Elec Dominator, not sure yet)

Ice/DM tank named "Magnetic North".

And if we ever get a Staff/Polearm set for melee characters I'm naming a Staff/Dark Armor scrapper or brute......Staff Infection
