Hm.
So, Sunless Mire -> Dwarf Mire -> Nova isn't really worthwhile? -
Let's see if I can have the first post after a redname.
1. What is your favorite word? Phlebotomy! Kidding. Actually, it's "No".
2. What is your least favorite word? "Unfortunately"
3. What turns you on? Success
4. What turns you off? Sloth
5. What sound or noise do you love? Gunfire. Yes, really.
6. What sound or noise do you hate? The sound made by styrofoam when two pieces rub together.
7. What is your favorite curse word? BLYAD!! - take that, autocensor.
8. What profession other than your own would you like to attempt? - Professional soldier
9. What profession would you not like to participate in? Anything related to arts
10. If heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the Pearly Gates? CRAP, IT'S YOU! Alright, get in... -
I regularly dump commons on the market at the price of 105 (gotta cover my costs, ya know). If I do MA, whatever I don't use in recipe rolls is used for common rolls.
It sure as hell sells, but I'm afraid though that people just immediately flip it and the net result is zero. -
Not quite "while playing a Kheldian", but involves a Kheldian (or a Nictus rather).
During Romulus' final cutscene when he confesses his failure to his Nictus masters, people often shout something stupid in the background. Not this time. Just as Rommy begins to transform...
"Oh, YEAH!! Put the SQUID in me! Ohh, BABY!! This is AWESOME!! DEEPER!! DEEPER!!!"
I mistimed my Phantom Army after that and faceplanted because I was laughing too hard. I also remember this every time I transform on Extor Umbral. Yeah, I know it's lowbrow, but I'm easily amused. -
I like the concept of Boomtown. It's trashed in a most depressing way and is delightfully hopeless, moreso than Eden and RWZ. At least things grow in Eden and RWZ is being fought over. Baumton is just ruined to the point that no one wants to deal with it anymore, it's a festering sore where the undesirables can easily get lost, lurk and build lairs. If you listen closely, an ambient sound plays every so often that gives you the feeling of tinnitus. Sometimes I imagine what it's like inside one of those semi-toppled buildings and get goosebumps.
It wouldn't hurt to spruce the place up a bit - the undesirables could build shantytowns (like those in Terra Volta) and have minor turf skirmishes. But overall, Baumton does exactly what it's supposed to do: gives you a glimpse into Paragon City's possible future. Someday the meta-battles will tear the whole place apart and we'll all be sitting on ruins just like that, only it'll be in Atlas Park. And everything will be just too screwed up to even fight over anymore.
Hmmm...
The worst zones? Skyway City is right up there. Those highways don't really go anywhere. If there were elevated highways in other zones, it'd be cool. The way it is? The zone's a drag. And I hate Synapse.
Terra Volta ranks a close second. Why it's gotta be a hazard zone I don't know. Instead of hunting purse snatchers, Longbow should've cleaned it out ages ago, seeing as how the power plant is important and everyone wants a crack at it. And Sky Raiders, hovering in flocks and doing absolutely nothing are a sorry sight. If this zone had a tagline it would be "We're like Crey's Folly, with an extra dose of stupid".
Brickstown is the distant third. The Zig, while impressive and foreboding, is a gigantic revolving door. Look, I get it: if I "arrest" someone, they'll eventually escape. No need to shove it in my face by having a steady trickle of escaped prisoners coming out of the super-prison. Maybe there could be a zone event every so often when prisoners break out and flood into the streets. I'd take that over Stevie the Snatch and Mickey the Groin walking out along with their buddies like it's a daycare facility. -
I thought we were talking about girls going bare.
Martial arts on teh intrawebz are that way --> -
Bleh. It was all done before, with WoW.
-
There's a difference between "obviously painted on" and "skin-tight spandex", though.
A well-done costume should show at least subtle texture transitions between fabric and skin.
You can see it very well here:
http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/File:Bridal_Glove.jpg
While the glove is skin-tight, you can see that its texture differs from the skin texture, and it creates the illusion of the character "wearing a piece of clothing".
Whereas the panties have lack any definition, they simply look some white paint daubed directly on the skin. In fact they have the same "matte finish" as the skin, so they don't look like a garment at all.
IMO, Witch Lace is an example of how all "with skin" options should be done. I hope an overhaul is in the cards, someday. -
Let's be realistic here, c'mon.
My main, the Ill/Rad, barely notices AVs (unless we're talking someone ridiculous here, like Romulus or Reichsmann). My En/En blaster on the other hand can barely scratch the Psychic Clockwork King, who is the scrub of all AVs, despite being IO'd out to the gills.
A successful AE solo = damage output + mitigation + optional -regen. And staying power, of course. Some ATs can never furnish the requirements. Some powerset combinations can never furnish the requirements either...
And I'm talking unassisted solo here, no Shivans or wolves or Amy. Inspirations and "self only" tempts acceptable. -
Just what it sez on the cover.
Can a Kheldian solo an AV? Would a PB or a WS have a better shot (if any)?
Have you done it? -
You're missing MY point.
Those chibis from Draconica look funny and cute. That works.
Female models of CoH, the more undressed they are, the more they expose the mesh's many, many imperfections. If it is my character (and consequently I look at it a lot more than I would at another person's character), my eye tends to dwell on those imperfections (feet that look like flesh-colored boots, awkward legs, lack of belly button, etc.), and it gets to be IRRITATING. It may be a touch of OCD, but it is what it is. -
Perhaps this has been answered before, but here goes:
Whose GIGANTIC statue stands on Peregrine Island (Crimson hangs out near it)? Was there an actual female hero named "Peregrine" and the island was named after her, or is it someone else? -
Did you know that the words "Happy Monday" are statistically likely to provoke random violence?
-
Remember: with great chest slider comes great responsibility. Especially in City of Heroes. Because even with all sliders on default, female models look kind of like crippled Barbie dolls, and messing with scales only makes it worse.
Developers! Make a new female model already, for the current one sucks. But I digress...
Heels. Every one of my attempts at a female character wore heels because of the odd way legs look on the female characters. I'm no artist, but something is just WRONG with females' legs when you wear flat shoes or go barefoot, it's bordering on the uncanny valley. Wearing boots with any kind of heel almost certainly cures this problem. I think the female models were INTENDED to wear heels all along, and flat footwear (or lack thereof) was more of an afterthought.
Skimpy outfits. I'm pretty sure some of you know my attitude towards nudity (well, Lothic should at least). That said, the problem with wearing skimpy clothes is that they are nothing more than body paint. Female models are already awful (where's the belly button by the way?) and outfits like Eden that lack any "substance" to them produce the effect of an animated, painted plastic doll. It's not alluring in the least and results in the uncanny valley effect again.
Side note: I'm shocked that this thread was started by a female. -
Besides the accolade, the invasions are damn near unbearable.
They are cool the first few times, but after a while they just make me pop up the Ouroboros portal and get the hell out of the affected zone.
Plus, they are immersion breakers... -
Soldier versions of grenades cause redraw (you pull out your gun and fire the grenade).
Crab version shoots from one of the backpack legs, and animates faster. Crab version is therefore preferable.
Crabs can be plenty epic, but it takes time and influence to get there. A fully IOd out crab can tank, blast and spawn as many pets as a Mastermind - on a perma basis. Just be ready to pay through the nose for all those +Rech sets. -
Yep, respec is a must. Thank goodness I have a freespec from the vet rewards... gonna burn it tonight I think.
I say, how do Warshades manage without Stamina? "Human mode" is an absolute nightmare without it. Teleporting eats the blue bar pretty damn quick; the Cloak of Shadows + Superspeed + Shield squishes your Recovery...
Also, I heard somewhere that while Stamina bonus does not apply while shifted, Health bonus does. That true? -
Great advice there Plasma.
Looked at your build and shifted some more slots. I want to avoid taking "useless powers" - "if it don't do nuttin', it don't go"; therefore I decided to not take Stealth, replace it with Grant Invis and keep Swift and Health.
It's my understanding that Health helps offset the drain of Gravitic Emanation... -
I haven't quite decided yet.
Either:
1) I will make all of my Illusion powers red and match everything else to them (RED FIRE!)
or
2) I will match the Fire and Psy attacks as well as the Rad anchored debuffs and AoEs to the blue shade used by Illusion.
Either way I'm going to need to grind up some influence, because trial and error will cost a lot. -
4.5 Billion?
That is a bloody lot. Has purple price inflated so badly recently? Is this red or blue side? -
Thank you - this explains.
-
All right then!
Firstly thanks for very good advice. After some agonizing slot movement, I've changed the build some.
Highlights:
- Slotted Gravity Well with Hecatomb
- Moved a slot from Dark Extraction to Absorption
- Moved a slot from Black Dwarf to Sunless Mire
- Changed enhancements in Black Dwarf Mire and Sunless Mire
- Added KB protection and Slow resist.
- Of course now it's even MORE expensive, yay.
Here we go:

I'm not terribly upset by this. Kheldian power colors are kind of their signature, and while it is indeed easy to get lost in a crowd of nictus, it's not a deal-breaker for me.
Plus, do you REALLY want to see pink novas and dwarves? Well, do ya? Think of the children! -
Forgot to ask: how's Quasar? I'm fond of PBAoE nukes from the days of blastering (WITNESS YOUR DOOMMMMM!!!!!), but whereas for a blaster the nuke is often a signature power, is it perhaps too situational for a warshade?
