That's a brutal blow to your gaming experience, so I know it is rather difficult, nigh impossible, to keep it cool and have a solid amount of patience.
From what I understand, they should be able to fix this (I could be wrong about that, but I hope not).
The costumer service is the venue that'll get things done. I'm sure the community reps around here will do whatever they can when they see this.
Jumping to negativity towards them and the developers doesn't do anyone any good and they're not some heartless maniacal villains who wouldn't care about someone losing their SG base and all.
As I said, I know this is a pain, but it may take a bit of time and then things will be better.
You filed a ticket with Customer Service? Have you sent any PMs to Avatea, Zwill and/or Frietag?
Best of luck! It should be fine! -
Quote:You mean besides the excellent point repeated in this thread about how the positioning of this power meshes with the positioning for Sweeping Cross?...I can't think of another reason other than to be different merely for the sake of being different (rather than being better).
Listening to Second Measure talk about the design goals of this set, I would say this is a big factor in why this power is the way it is. They wanted this set to flow by allowing each attack to seamlessly blend into the next. They did this with a bit of interuptable animation time at the end of each attack to make the animations flow better and I can imagine that moving around to adjust for a cone attack and a PBAoE attack would disrupt that flow... but the TAoE doesn't. -

Quote:It's one thing to feel ignored... and another to have it confirmed, haha!I'm a little surprised that no one thinks that this was given to VIPs because of the Exalted server. When that was announced, there was a lot of hue and cry about wanting free transfers to the Exalted server. I think that Paragon decided that this was a way to give VIPs a way to transfer their characters over to Exalted (albeit slowly), while selling more transfer tokens to the impatient ones (~99%).
Quote:I think the main reason they decided to give the free transfer may have been in order to provide subscribers with a free way to move to the VIP only server.
When the new business model was initially announced, there was concern bout how the servers may be flooded with spammers, jerks and other such unsavory riffraff.
Whether or not any of this was considered a legitimate concern, an offering to allow subscribers to jump into VIP seclusion seemed almost a necessity.
Now, that may not be the real or the sole reason behind it... but if there weren't free transfers, I am quite sure there would have been people asking for them.
And, as others have mentioned... giving free transfers does not equal giving 800 points for their value. -
I don't think it is too much to give it an honest try and avoid assuming that there are poor intentions behind it.
It could work out better! Give the idea a chance!
While I was indeed surprised, I just recently saw people talking (in game and on the forums) about where they should be posting about and looking for specific builds.
Now, I don't know why there'd be confusion, but I can't dismiss the fact that I witnessed some of it.
I'm not even saying that this is enough to warrant such a forum... But, hey, the head of community relations thinks it is a good idea and it is zero sweat off of my back (nor anyone's), so, let's see!
I could see some benefit of having a focused area for it. Especially just simply giving a focus to Mids' and its existence for new players (those who don't always ask and get our numerous responses saying "paragonwiki and Mids... use them... love them!"). -
I'd love to see these options put into the game.
Also see the same conversation going on in the staff/rods ranged attack suggestion thread.
I'd say this is another one of those long desired options they've yet to turn into reality.
One day... I hope! -
Do very much want!
And I agree with the penguin.
One thought...
Now, I doubt this is an easier/better workaround, but...
What if it was the Staff/Rod (whatever name) powerset and then the particular branch was chosen: Fire Blast, Electric Blast... so on.
It seems like the more ridiculous, convoluted, resource-intensive way to go about it... But maybe it is not (if the redraw balance is deemed a great enough issue).
Obviously, they'd have to be full powerset choices if they'd be the same exact powers as the already-existing ones (No choosing Fire for one power, Electric for another, Rad for yet another, etc.). Anyway... I do think this is the wrong way to go, but I just figured I'd mention it...
Soldiers and Fortunatas have their branches come later on, but I'm not sure there's any reason why a branch choice couldn't be at level one, hehe (besides the coding to make it happen, of course).
Anyway... I'd much rather see it be a customization option for existing powersets, but hey... whatever they think works best. -
Quote:What do you mean. exactly, by no reply? I'm not getting it...Perhaps then it would be a good idea for folks, if they need no reply, to start putting in their PMs, "Needs no reply."
This post needs no reply.
Quote:I agree with the "Needs no reply" suggestion.
This really tells the forum folks a lot about the customer relations of the City of Heroes team. The community appreciates the communication, and it drives up the amount of communication. All of the City of Heroes team deserves applause especially Zwillinger, Beastyle, and Freitag. Thank you guys so much.
This post needs no reply
OR... Zwill is just a lazy meanie-head who has let his PMs sit, unchecked, for a long time and is only just now getting around to checking them!
AND... He figured he'd "show off" how many PMs he has, as some sad token to his imagined popularity!!!
Aww, now I feel bad for Zwill... I'm going to send a PM to help cheer him up!!

Quote:Welcome back!Wow, been a while since I have been here, Sarge and I finally came back to CoH with the release of Freedoma nd quickly decided we did not like loosing everything for the free so we went VIP. Anyhow, we both made new characters last night just to see the new Zone and try out one of the new power sets, when I first loaded in I was almost in awe, this was galaxy, this was the safe haven we went to when we did not want to do Atlas, its.. destroyed!
That was it for my awe, small, quick, not immersive, though I did like the Shivan fight, it reminded me of the old street brawls with the giants, it all went by so quick that by the time we were done I was left going huh.. well that was dissapointing.
So many points have been made about this that I will not rehash them, but it could of been so much more epic to draw out that feeling of awe I had when I first logged into a destroyed Galaxy.
This is my sad face...
And don't be too sad... the rest of the game is still going great!
I hope you both enjoy being back.
And yeah, at first, I thought it was a cool way to introduce the Giant Monster aspect of this game... an aspect that kind of gets overlooked.
I hope they do make more of such things from here on, because it is a fun thing within this game and maybe offering a taste of it (albeit, currently a fake taste) will lead to them trying to put a bit more of the spotlight on fighting giant monsters and the like.
Side tangent, perhaps, but hey! -
You guys just reminded me that (In Beta) I loved the elbow/forearm smash variant of that animation, because I was using a character that had the Finned Gloves!
I like the alternating animations, but sometimes I'd love to be able to lock them to one as well, hehe.
Still, I enjoyed every other time I hit that power a little more. -
I understand the new direction for the tutorial and somewhat enjoyed it the first time I ran it, but I'd say I like it less than the original as far as repeat runs are concerned.
I especially enjoyed the Villain tutorial for flavor (I'm not complaining, but I will say that starting a character inside of jail and breaking out has got to be a unique scenario in mmorpgs! And it was one I thought was great!).
While I'm not a fan of how little the new tutorial covers important things that they could have handled quickly enough (enhancements and enhancement combining, just like the first tutorial... it did not take long!!)... I do think that some of the negatives against it are sometimes a bit overstated.
I mean, I do dislike the narrow corridor of the destroyed Galaxy City (and feel like such a typical, limited, zone path too greatly misrepresents this game... which I think makes a poor introduction).
I also feel like the fights carry too little significance and/or danger.
However, I don't think the first time fighting the GM is likely to invoke those feelings. And I am okay with the jets doing their thing.
Obviously they wanted something epic feeling, but without the real risk of new players getting defeated left and right and/or over and over. That's a difficult thing to pull off. And remember... these new players haven't been taught how to play the game yet...
Anyway...
I just wanted to comment about one more thing that I see mentioned now and then...
Quote:First off, I mean zero disrespect to you, as your post was very well said (perhaps, besides the one bit I quoted) and you made perfectly clear that you understand it's a difference of opinion and all....
One thing I think a few people in this thread are overlooking is that a new player isn't going to want to spend the first 30 minutes of their brand new game having every mechanic of the game explained to him before he can actually start having fun.
...
I just wanted to comment on the fact that... we were all new players and new players are not some new species that we must change for or anything.
Some new players of old and new players... of new... would prefer the old tutorial (and, of course, some the new one, heehee).
That'll likely never change.
I guess I am just going to reconcile with the fact that we had the kind I preferred for 7 years and now we have the kind that some other players prefer.
Que sara! -

Beastyle... I would stay away from Posi while he has that flowbee... This just sounds all kinds of dangerous!
-
Good grief, haha... I think the pertinent info could have, at least, been paraphrased... if they really felt it necessary to edit the quote out.
-
Actually, in the Ustream, (I believe) he mentioned it may be in two days increments, which would be even quicker.
I'm not sure how it will exactly go down but we're talking a couple of days. -
Quote:I shall relieve you all of the burden of trying to sort that out... It will be a dictatorship that I will lead. That is, if any of us can agree on what form that government should take on who should be running it. Um, good luck with that.
I will listen to the people... Should I keep the beard or no? -
The last thing I'd want to "win" is a haircut with a flowbie...
I do currently have a beard that could use a trim... would that be acceptable?
(As if I would trust Posi with a flowbie anywhere near my head...) -

Yeah, at the time I joined this game (forum reg date), Short Circuit has never returned endurance. I would imagine that the proc from your IO may have caused you some confusion about that.
I haven't noticed Power Sink behaving any differently than it always has.
While I've been playing a couple of new alts the past few weeks, up until then I was playing almost exclusively on my Elec/Elec Blaster and have not noticed any problems/changes with these powers.
I just figured I'd give you my experience on the matter! -
Quote:*hugs and cradles the Electric Secondaries*Powers I use from Electricity Manipulation on my Elec^3 Blaster:
- Charged Brawl, Havoc Punch: Both do better damage than either blast from Electrical Blast, and Elec/Elec Blasters are made for blapping; occasional knockback from Havoc Punch is mild mitigation (some is better than none).
- Build Up: As someone else said, why would you not use this??
- Thunder Strike: Knockback is good mitigation and does great damage.
- Power Sink: The defining power of the set.
- Shocking Grasp: Hold #3 on my Elec^3 (okay, technically hold #2 of 3), allows me to perma-hold EBs, also a good place to 6-slot Lockdown for +Ranged Defense and the +2 Hold proc, or 4-slot Basilisk's Gaze for +Ranged Defense and +Recharge (I forget which set I have in there, probably BG since I use Tesla Cage more often thus it benefits from the proc more often). Oh wait, I have Mako's Bite in there for +Ranged Defense (better than BG) and it also does High DoT.
Yeah, to each their own, of course, but I love my secondaries and often times they feel more defining and important to me than the primaries.
Dark Gob said it well enough for my favorite: The E3 Blaster.
I have a Psychic/Energy Blaster who focuses much more on the melee of the Energy Secondary.
My Archery/Devices is greatly impacted by Devices.
I am loving my new Dark/Dark Blaster and have been heavily enjoying the secondary (and looking forward to being higher level and enjoying the secondary even more).
I know there are different styles, but I can't imagine playing Blasters without indulging in the Secondary Powers. They are often what makes me enjoy Blaster so much.
Anyway... Beyond the aspect of the thrill and utility that the secondaries provide with my Blaster playstyle, themes and concepts and visuals all play a huge role in my enjoyment of playing this game... so the secondaries of my Defenders and Blaster definitely mean a lot to me.
Hrm, my Empathy/Psi Defender is built around being a psychic and having Telekinetic Blast is too great for me to not notice when using other secondaries, hehe.

Quote:Yesiree!Well, let's put it simply, then: Continue making sets with glowing auras as an Original option, but also include a NoFX option where said Original aura is a metaphorical representation and not a physical manifestation. Sound about right?
...
With a quick addendum to please feel free to add NO FX options for existing sets (that have metaphorical representations)!
