I would (almost) never roll a Kinetics Defender over a Corruptor. Corruptors have higher base damages, a higher damage cap, and Scourge. A Kinetics Corruptor can still damage cap themselves solo, even with their slightly lower buff modifiers, meaning they will be doing *way* more damage than a Defender, who's solo damage buff from Vigilance is meaningless to a Kin.
Corruptor damage scale of 0.75 * 5.0 (damage cap of +400%) = 3.75. I've read that testing indicates over the long-term that Scourge is about a 17% increase in total damage dealt on average. Factoring that in, you've got a total damage scale of 4.3875.
Defender damage scale of 0.65 * 4.0 (damage cap of +300%) = 2.6. That's a big, big difference.
The only time I'd ever go Defender over Corruptor for Kinetics would be to do Kin/Sonic, foregoing personal damage to instead be the best team damage amplifier in the game. -
Quote:I don't think pets have any +recovery powers for an Endurance Modification to enhance, but you should be able to tell if they're receiving a benefit from it by mousing over the power and looking for that enhancement type on the Enhancement Manager in-game.Let's see, I went with Agility to get +rech and +def - I assume the end mod helps the pets too, but if left on dummies they still empty out after a bit.
Quote:Went with Spectral for exotic damage and possible immobilization for burn patches. -
Achilles Heel -Resistance can NEVER stack, EVER, under ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. The source of the proc does not matter.

Ninjas are best paired with large-scale Defense buffs and/or large-scale Tohit debuffs. Nin/Time is probably the best.
Nin/FF, Nin/Traps, and Nin/Dark work okay too.
If you want a primary to pair with Sonic, Demons is where it's at. You can get them up about 40% resist from Sonic buffs and 20% more from IOs. They all have 20%+ resists to S/L and their native damage type, and the Ember Demon buffs their resistances even further. I think it's plausible that you could hard-cap them to S/L and their native damage types.
Plus, there's another 10% resist+regeneration IO coming out In The Future if the Beta leak doesn't get changed. -
Quote:When the changes to single target buff sets were made, they weren't made to make them more powerful, they were made to make them less obnoxious to play, especially in huge groups of players. Those changes were made in the half-issue update following the introduction of Leagues and Incarnate Trials to the game. Let me tell you from personal experience that casting two buffs on six pets and twenty four players, one at a time, is unbearable. When they change single shield buff to group buff, I thought they would only do it for /FF and /Sonic. I am surprised they made /Thermal and /Cold even better. Oh and /Kin too... T_T
Re:Frostwork, I see no reason to adjust a targeted buff when it's ported to Masterminds. It's not like people can't already Frostwork a Mastermind's pets for them if so inclined. -
Absolutely nothing that counts as a Set Bonus applies to pets in any way. The Sovereign Right, Command of the Mastermind, Call to Arms, Expedient Reinforcement, Commanding Presence and Edict of the Master Uniques actually grant you powers which work basically like Supremacy.
They do benefit from procs, but the caveat is that for the proc to be applied to any given attack they have, that attack would have to accept the proc itself. For example, Thugs' tier 1 pet can take Knockdown procs, but they're awful in them because they only have one attack with a chance to knock down. Conversely, all but one of the Bruiser's attacks have a chance for knockdown, which makes KD procs great in him.
Alpha and Interface benefit pets directly because they function as enhancements rather than global bonuses (read: set bonuses or buffs). -

Quote:But you forget that I'm not using the best DPS attacks. So, I'm getting 210 DPS with no assault (leadership pool), not the best chain, and no incarnate abilities.
I'm curious, where do all the other sets sit when it comes to using their best DPS with no incarnate abilities?Quote:I did a pylon test with a NB/SR and got 3:55 for 291 DPS. No temps or inspiration, only incarnate power is T1 Musculature. Chain is GD-GC-SD-AS-repeat. If I ever decide to play this character again, I'll try building for enough recharge to run GD-SD-AS-repeat.Quote:OK got my stalker up to T4 Reactive and T4 Musc.
( 38346.4375 / time) + 127.8215 = DPS
Best time was 3.28, then 3.39, then 3.46. For dps that's 312dps, 303dps, 297dps (ouch). I'm a bit surprised because my TW/SR brute was crushing these times (see 2 pages back) with sub 3-min times. And this stalker not only has AS/CU but also the combo system creating extra damage. And 2 -RES procs (in SB and CS). (And ouch its worse than the Fire/MM above -- but I guess Drain Psyche is that good?).
Would have thought it would be higher. Pauses in the attack chain included Icy Bastion when available and sometimes hoarfrost. Had to use recovery serum to stay in the blue.
Chain: [Build Up] - AS- CU to start, then repeating: SB-HB-SC-SB-AS-CU with Build Up used when available.
Open to further suggestions!Quote:Video link
I uploaded a video of my DB/SR Stalker to Youtube. It took me 179 seconds, which puts me at 342 dps. I did use a few green inspirations, but I didn't get hit a second time so I could've gained a second or so if I hadn't hit them. For incarnate powers I have T4 Musculature, T4 Ageless, and T4 Reactive.
Overall I'm pretty happy with that, especially since my build still has some room to grow as I only have 1 of 4 purple set recharge bonuses so far and am still using the normal ATO set. I'd also like to try with T4 Degenerative, but I'm still a Very Rare away from crafting it.Quote:Awesome chain! Beat my personal best time of 3:05 on the second try (First try ran out of end). Tried it on beta and got a pylon time of 2:53 for 349 DPS. I do not have Ageless and ran with a gap between SB-AS.
Couple of drawbacks of this chain is AS did not critical several times due to it only accumulating 2 AF for each AS attack. Ageless is pretty much mandatory, not really for recharge but for endurance. Stalkers are end hungry using AS once per cycle but imagine twice. I was able to use the chain comfortably but needed to turn off 2 toggles (Focused Fighting and Senses). SBE PF procs would be perfect for this chain (If they are not changed).
One other thing, the Superior ATO set in AS works well with that chain but still broken on the SB-SC-AS-SB-CU chain.
Currently uploading the video. Can check it out here when it's complete: http://youtu.be/s-Z_fynwPZU -
You can't compare set DPS by the Total Damage of it's attacks, those numbers are meaningless if you don't consider how long it takes for that damage to be applied (read: DPA). Staff is low on ST DPS because it's attacks are all on the mid-low end of the scale for DPA, which people don't realize, in part, because Eye of the Storm and Sky Splitter are both victims of a Real Numbers bug that is causing all the Form bonus damages to be added to the base when DPA is displayed, making it look significantly higher than it really is.
The best staff attack chain for a non-stalker is Precise-Serpents-Precise-Sky Splitter, which, on a Scrapper, are unenhanced DPAs of 73-63-73-73. The Form of Body damage just can't make up the difference between Staff and the (several) better sets (and, totally separate but also relevant problem, it can't be paired with Shield, which hurts it's position for Scrapper damage comparisons). If you want a more depthy analysis, go look into the Pylon thread.
Stalkers get a much better attack chain for single targets because of Assassin's Strike, but no, 210 DPS isn't impressive for a Stalker anymore. -
It will happen, eventually, yes, and when it does it will be the final nail in Force Fields' coffin. The only reason to ever play FF over Cold when both are an option will be concept; the personal mez protection and slightly better defense just can't compare to the massive debuffing power of Cold.

Quote:Honestly, I tend to just play my Masterminds as support units in the temp zerg in Lambda; it's either that or solo my way through a glowy or two on the ones that have the durability and sustainability to survive solo in Trials. Pets just don't hold up well when you try to speed through content and ignore large groups....the only problem I can imagine having is during lambda crate runs. How do you hold up there?
Yes it does. -
It takes more work doing UV mapping to make symmetrical and asymmetrical versions of a costume piece, and they are limited in the number of available "attachment points" they can stick costume bits to on the skeletons.
The short version is: technical problems. -
I'm taking this as a promise of imminent Psylocke, er, I mean, Psychic Melee.

In what universe do you live in where any orphan who becomes financially successful qualifies as a Mary Sue?

Quote:I didn't say or imply that they don't exist. I said it's not a weapon that most people immediately think of when they think of mecha.
Laser swords and giant guns are, on the other hand, pretty much universal to the genre. -
We still have (at least) two of the original alpha/beta-era developers active on the team (and the forums, to a lesser extent). That's more than most MMOs that reach this age can say.

And since i get tokens for subscribing, they are not exactly free. So, I pay a subscription and then pay more money on top of that; sweet deal for somebody... not for me though.
Seriously, where's the guy with the bit in his signature about how people would whine if the game printed 20s that they weren't sequential serial numbers? -

Quote:I'm going to second this, especially since Demons/Time is a very high-power character build, and you have a reputation for not liking IO sets, which Masterminds are inherently less beholden to to reach their pinnacle power.I like a Mastermind with Demons/Time Manipulation.
The demons could be her bound versions of the gods she owns, and time gives you "reach around the walls" effects.
Bonus: if you're willing to get the Call to Arms, Expedient Reinforcement, Sovereign Right, Edict of the Master, and Command of the Mastermind unique Auras and stuff them in Hell on Earth you'll get a huge portion of the power given to an MM by an IO build for five slots worth of work (note also that the first four of these are available on the paragon market if you're into that). -
The one thing in this vein I would love to see done would be an issue dedicated to updating as many of the most-underperforming powersets as they could fit in, and I would not mind whatever costs that had to us in terms of new stuff even if the Powers, Animations, and VFX people were busy with it for a full development cycle.

Quote:None of these sets offer anywhere near the controlling power of a control set. Not even close.Well, there are about 4 debuff sets in there: Time, Radiant, Kinetics, and Miasma... but I made sure to look at the powers to make sure that they still achieved a similar "near lockdown" effect like a controller.
Kinetics doesn't even have a single CC effect in it, beyond Slow... -
My pleasure, and thank you! Congratulations and best of luck with the little one.
