  1. If you're going to go Sonic Attacks, go Defender over Corruptor. Your Time powers will be better and your blasts will do -20% res apiece. Time/Sonic matches visually very nicely and has beautiful debuffing capacity.

I will disagree with the previous poster about Dark on a Corruptor, I enjoy mine very much, it is a very safe set due to all the -tohit (which would stack with Time's -tohit and +defense nicely) and self-healing blast, which was recently buffed to be a fairly competent attack on its own. If you are good at aiming Cones it is a solid contender, especially with a Radial DOT Interface and high recharge, you can pretty reliably cycle TT-NF-Repeat.
Dark Pit even has its uses if you can stack it with another stun (probably not applicable to Time). Dark also has the capacity to immob enemies in Time's Patch of No Funsies.

Ice, as several people have said, has it's upsides. Both it's rains are also at full blaster-power on a Defender though, and Defenders get better debuffs on it, so I'd probably also choose Defender for Time/Ice.

I'm personally not a big fan of Radiation Blast, as it's got really anemic damage numbers and even totally procced out is still only at 'meh' levels compared to other options.

Electric is a very mediocre set for damage and its secondary effect is entirely useless for hard content; it also requires completely building around it to make it effective at all even on normal enemy packs.

I would not recommend any Weapon set (Archery, Assault Rifle, Beam Rifle, Dual Pistols) with Time, as it is a VERY active support set and you will be redrawing constantly if you have a weapon to deal with.
  2. Draeth Darkstar

    Rain of fire

Move the Rag Dam out of Fireball, replace with the proc. 5 piece Ragnarok without the Damage single is very near ED cap (around 90% enhancement). A Damage Alpha or +5 on anything (except the proc, obviously) in the set will hit the ED hard DR.

Then put the Rag Dam +5 and either a Nuc HO or the Posi Dam/Rech +5 in RoF, depending on how your global acc/rech look.

But really, 2-slotting RoF is a pretty weird build choice.
  3. One of my favorite nuances of the City is learning which Power Sets really shine in the hands of the different Archetypes they're available to. I am a huge altoholic, and come up with all kinds of different concepts, and I like to make them the best that they can be by using those built-in advantages to get the most mileage out of each of my characters.

That said, my Stalker experience is extremely limited; so, tell me, Stalkers, what sets really kick into high gear when you play them on a Stalker? Which ones make those Brutes and Scrappers green with envy when they see what you can do with the same powers they have?

And an even more important question is why?

I have heard that Kinetic Melee and Street Justice both have advantages on Stalkers when compared to the other meleers. Is this true? What creates these synergies with the archetype? What other sets have unique synergy as a Stalker (Primary, Secondary or Ancillary)?

Teach me your ways, stealthy ones!
  4. Dark or Time are going to provide you with the best babysitting capacity for your very squishy, melee only pets. They are probably the only sets I would personally consider playing with Beast Mastery, since you're going to need all the buffs, heals, and debuffs you can get to keep your pets alive, and the controlling and slowing effects will be necessary to stop them from chasing enemies all over every map you step into.
  5. I'm shocked no one has done this yet.

If you were a Corruptor? Yes, I'd say go Fire Blast and enjoy double-scourge rain.

Defenders, however, got a specially-nerfed version of Rain of Fire; meanwhile, they keep the full Blaster-level power of Ice Storm and Blizzard in Ice Blast, making it one of the best Blast sets on a Defender (the other being Sonic, in my opinion, for the -20% res/all secondary effect on almost all its powers).

  8. I can't figure out what to drop to fit Aid Self and maintain enough recharge and defense without dropping the Flight pool, which is necessary for my concept.

Here is the build with the jury-rigged ATOs pulled, hopefully that will make it load correctly. Set bonuses from them are: 3% Health, 5% S/L 2.5% Melee Def, 4% Damage, 10% Recharge

  9. You may be struggling to find help with this combo because Resist armors favor Brutes, and to some degree, TW does too. Momentum really plays into the Fury mindset very nicely.

Good news! Most Trials seem to be forming in DA now. You can go there, get invited to one forming, let someone else do all the work, and battle the incarnate level enemies all over the zone while you wait for them to collect the requisite number of people.
  11. Hello Scrapper forums:

I am planning to finish off my FM/SD Scrapper this DXP weekend, and would like the opinion of professionals on this build.

This is both the most expensive build I have ever put together and the only high end Scrapper I have ever done. I think I understand the basic concepts well enough, but I want to make sure before I start working towards it that it's as good as it can be.

    Pros:
    • Soft-capped to all positions, iCapped with a small purple
    • Perma-hasted with Musculature Core Alpha
    • Smooth attack chain of GFS->Incin->Cremate->Repeat
    • FSC on 5.39s, Fireball on 8.62s, Shield Charge on 24.25s recharge. AoE should be solid enough.

    Cons:
    • No OWTS (I rarely end up using melee tier 9s when they would actually make a difference anyway, though)
    • No self heal, low (16.5/s) regen. I intend to take Rebirth Radial to alleviate this.
    • Doesn't slot for maximum +HP in True Grit.
    • PVE Stealth is only 30 ft.
    • ...And probably things I've missed.

    Notes:
    • I jury rigged the Scrapper ATO set into the database to use for this, so I've no idea if that'll show up correctly when imported.
    • Hover/Fly is concept-mandatory.

    All feedback is appreciated.

  12. Thank you - when I attempted that it didn't return anything at all, I must've done it wrong.

Does anyone then know if @Spacey is active?
  13. As the title suggests, I am looking for whomever holds the name "Crimson Alpha" on Virtue; this has been the name of my main villain for years on Freedom and I am considering a server move, but don't want to change his name.

If someone has the name, or has contact information for the person who does, I would very much like to talk to you about what it is worth to you.
  14. Draeth Darkstar

    Good build?

Guide to playing a strong mastermind:

Pretend the only primaries are Demon Summoning, Robotics, Thugs

Pretend the only secondaries are Dark Miasma, Thermal, Traps

Using this method it practically doesn't even matter what your build looks like, you'll still faceroll over just about anything.
  15. Just as an experiment, I'm going to suggest you replace all your pet IOs with 6/6 Blood Mandate. It won't be expensive to do, they're cheap sets. See how much of a difference it makes.
  16. I'm sure I wouldn't have to.

Based on my experience with this community, if they announced that they intended to charge money for Pool Customization the hailstorm of rage that would ensue would cause a cosmic explosion large enough to destroy the planet.
  17. Draeth Darkstar

    Ha. What a joke.

    A moped?

    Really?

    What are you using, generics?

On topic: I... don't really get the iTrial whining. The only complaint I've ever really felt reflected in the game was that original-Keyes was overtuned, and they turned around and nerfed it so hard that it makes BAF look hard now...

On Virtue this evening, I joined a full PUG trial league in DA. We did MoTPN, MoMoM (except Dreamkiller, obviously), MoDD, and MoUG in one run each... Most of the people in the league had never done MoM, almost none had done DD, and only about half had done UG. The only trial we did that we didn't collect badges on was Keyes, and that's because we didn't try. The only one that took us over 30 minutes to do was UG, which was about 45.

This content just is not that bad; it isn't hard, and it isn't time consuming. Yes, it's different than the standard 1-50 game. There are strategic elements and "gimmicks" that you have to play around to be successful, but none of them are hard enough to master to warrant that kind of total refusal to try. Even better, everyone wins. You cannot complete a Trial without getting some kind of tangible reward, in addition to merit currencies and dropped threads. iTrials are without even a slight question, the most forgiving endgame system in any MMO on the market.

    It is.

Apparently Paragon's marketing department is cool with racial/cultural insensitivity but is still afraid to touch anything related to religion with a ten foot pole. I'm not sure if I should feel happy or insulted about that.

My original idea before I started letting my mind wander with possibilities was Dark/Ice/Ice Dominator, which makes this sound... extremely tempting, given how generally middle-of-the-road /Ice seems to be on a Dominator.

However, the dark effects look so good and the cold effects look so bad that it just wasn't going to work out. I ended up going dark/time and at this point I regret it not a whit. I feel like time is a pretty damn open set conceptually, in that time doesn't actually look like anything so the swirls you're throwing around might as well just be more dark powers. In fact, they match dark's effects quite well with the right colors. It's a very support oriented combination but then I would say that of dark/anything for a controller since dark itself lacks good damage apart from haunt. Dark assault is the polar opposite of that, yet I felt like the dom route misses out on the potential that dark control has to build up an unstoppable wall of obstacles for your foes to overcome regardless of what they are for each and every spawn.

    Dark/time! It's swirly as hell.
The ambiguity of the special effects of the "plausible" sets I had listed was the primary reason I'm willing to work with them; colored with blacks and grays they can all be passed off as "shadow manipulation" well enough. My only real concern with going /Time is that... I have quite a number of Time Manipulators already, it quickly became one of my favorite support sets when it came out.
  20. Since the dawn of City of Heroes I have been waiting for a powerset to come out that really fits my namesake's original abilities. Dark Control is by far the best in the game as of I22 and I don't expect anything to ever get closer, so I am finally going to recreate Draeth, a mage who specializes in shadow manipulation, and ice magic.

But now that it's here, I can't decide what to pair with it, and it's driving me crazy.

So, forumites, if you wanted to make a Dark Control character, and your available options were:

    Controller:
    Secondary:
(Thematically preffered) Cold Domination, Dark Affinity
(Plausible with handwaving) Kinetics, Radiation Emission, Sonic Resonance, Thermal Radiation, Time Manipulation
    Ancillary:
    Ice, Mace (toggles only), Soul

    Dominator:
    Secondary:
(Thematically preffered) Dark Assault, Icy Assault
(Plausible with handwaving) Energy Assault, Fiery Assault, Psionic Assault
    Ancillary:
    Ice, Mace (toggles only), Soul

    ...what would you make? Why?

I'm looking for a combination that is fun to play, and synergizes well with Dark Control.

    All opinions welcome and appreciated.
  21. Welcome back, Bill.

I hope you find what you need in the City. It is a great place for stress relief.

And yes, Dark Control is AMAZING.
  22. This is approaching the question from a... bit of a different angle, but, have you considered selling the Crushing Impact enhancements rather than going out of your way to make another character to put them in?

They're not exactly going to be optimal in most cases.

Dark Pit + Howling Twilight = Mag 4 stun.

Also a convenient place to pick up a set of purple bonuses.
  24. How about, "The Queen of the Next Level... and Maybe the One After That"
  25. This build has been working out great for me.

Replaced Night Fall's slotting with ATOs though.
